I met Dr. Barnwell a few years ago during a visit with an x-gf and hers. He is a personable and likable guy. He really seems to like and care for the animals. I have been using Quick Shot in Canton for years (who does only shots). So, when I needed a vet to care for one of my own in a time of crisis, I turned to Hwy 92. The care was professional and accurate, but as the treatment progressed, visit after visit the quote continued to escalate well above the original assessment. After becoming uncomfortable that I might be treated as a cash cow for a new whatever...I turned elsewhere and received a second opinion on the viability and cost of the ultimate treatment. I ended up spending right around what Dr. Barnwell originally quoted me (around half of what I would have spent had I not shopped the price). This experience left a lasting bad taste in my mouth that will not soon go away. I should say that I think Dr. Barnwell is an extremely competent veterinarian, I just think his business practices are less than desirable. If money is no object, then by all means...

Do NOT take your pets to this animal hospital. We were sent to Dr. Barnwell this morning by the doctors at the emergency veterinary hospital across the street. Our chihuahua was attacked last night by a large aggressive dog and his left eye was literally falling out of his head. Dr. Barnwells staff turned us away at the door and said they did not have time to see our dog. The staff was incredible hostile and rude. The was our family and fur family was treated by Dr. Barnwell and his staff was truly appauling. Dr. Barnwell was notified of the situation and said he wouldnt even look at him (even though our dog had been a patient of Dr. Barnwells for nearly 10 years). Who turns away a suffering animal? We went to the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake instead and were met with this most amazing and helpful staff and veterinarians. I HIGHLY recommend the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake. After having been a patient of Doctor Barnwells at the Highway 92 Animal Hospital for nearly a decade, my fur family will NEVER set foot through the doors of that building again.

I first met Dr. Barnwell in February 1998 and was profoundly impressed. Since meeting him, he has and remains the veterinarian of choice for all of our Animals: seven cats and one dog. Over the past 13 years we have had three chronically ill cats, demanding special care, research and referrals. Dr. Barnwells commitment to his oath, discernment as a scientist, and versatility as a clinician guided us through each of these times with wise assistance, reassurance and integrity. I am confident as a scientist myself, that as practitioner and clinical scientist, the attention, devotion, care and supervision provided by Dr. Barnwell made it possible for these beloved pets to outlive and in one case, defy their prognosis. His dedication, empathy, and determination add an artistic grace to his clinical acumen. I have, and will continue to recommend Dr. Barnwell to any pet owner who is truly committed to the care of their companion(s).

My husband and I have 2 wonderful dog chompanions a border collie and a playful rat terrier. We have been boarding them with 92 animal hospital frankly because I cant find resonable boarding fees in the state of Ga. boarding and Vet. cost are outrageous it cost more for our dogs to be taken care of then our own medicial cost ??????? Who controls this? Unessasary cost at shot time. In ALL the 7 years we have had our dogs NEVER once did I ever get charged $50.00 each dog for an exam before they could give shots, and that didnt include kennal cough or parasite we had that done in Aug. Ga requires it 2x a yr.?? Why???? Other states require 1x yr. again extra cost! Why do we pay for Sunday boarding if we cant pick them up Sunday. I have never paid for Sunday boarding in other states we lived in when they were not open Sunday. Extra cost! Thats OK Dr. what goes around, 1 word Karma! No wonder people cant afford to adopte a pet.

We were referred to Hwy 92 Animal Hospital by our neighbor, after we had been rather concerned and dissatisfied with the previous vet that we had taken one of our dogs too. Wow what a wonderful experience! The staff are amazing and so caring towards all the animals. We also used their boarding facility a few times, and our dogs loved going there. We always knew that they were safe, and well looked after. Even though we only lived in GA for 13 months, I would recommend Hwy 92 Animal Hospital in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a veterinary practice. If we ever travel back to GA with our dogs we would not hesitate to put Sherlock and Missy in their care. Thank you for all your wonderful care that you showed our dogs :)

Dr. Barnwell has treated our 2 dogs and 1 cat over the last 18 years. We cannot say enough good things about them and how well they care for us and our pets. Our last lab had to be put to sleep due to age and arthritis. Dr. Barnwell took every step possible before he helped us determine when he was no longer going to be pain free. It helped to have someone who cared for us and him make that final decision. They were very good to us and him and later they sent me a paw print in clay of my sweet angel as well as a touching letter from Dr. Barnwell. I know have a adopted lab with some issues and they have been wonderful helping us take care of him and his specific needs. I will never go anywhere else.

I tried three times to call them. Each time I received a message stating that they either were not open or unable to answer the phone. On the third call, I left a message since they promised to return the call. After 42 hours still no call back. Since this is an Animal Hospital and I wanted assistance for my Westie, I would have expected a caring facility to call back quickly. Suffice it to say I found another Hospital that not only answered the phone but was very helpful and seemed concerned my situation. What distressed me the most was that I have never heard anything especially bad about this Animal Hospital - but I wont ever be recommending them nor considering them again in the future.

What would I do without Dr. Barnwell and his wonderful staff??? I have three pugs...Wicket, Bandit, and Cosmo. Every time we take them for boarding, they leap out of the car and run in. They LOVE it. The staff at Highway 92 Animal Hospital treat my babies as their own. I feel very comfortable leaving them there and wouldnt think of taking them anywhere else. Dr. Barnwell is an EXCELLENT vet and treats my pugs with the care and affection they deserve. Thanks, Doc, for putting my mind at ease when you have my babies. I know theyre a handful. You and your staff are the BEST!

I have to say, I use Towne Lake Animal Hospital boarding all the time for our dog and she loves it. The people there care about her and it shows. We used Hwy 92 this past Memorial Day weekend because TL was full. I cant help but feel that shes been locked up the entire time. Shes acting nuts since we brought her home! The girl at the desk acted like she couldnt wait for us to take her and obviously could care less about our dog. Perhaps the doctor there is a decent vet, but we will not board our puppy there again.
