CARI KINDER
There was a mistake when making my appt. I was told it was at 9:40 it was my first time going to that clinic so I called on my way to get the address at that point I gave them my name and told them the time of my appt (9:40) and let them know I might be a couple minutes late and I was told that was fine. I got there at 9:45 and the receptonist said my appt was at 9:30 and I explained to her that I was told 9:40 and was writting the appointment information as it was being scheduled. She said that Leigh Elrod PA-C gets to decide if she would see me so I sat down and waited for about 5-10 min then Laurie (the receptionist who was so caring and helpful) came over and said that she "doesnt want to disrupt her schedule" I asked Laurie to let her know that I was given the wrong appt time to begin with and I also called to let you guys know Id be a few min. late but am on my way, she went back and taked to Leigh Elrod PA-C again and explained that I have MS and am in chronic pain and drove up from Cottonwood area and I would wait as long as need be. However this "Physicians Assistant Leigh Elrod couldnt have cared less, she had her own co-workers telling her I was given the wrong time and called to let them know I would be there in less than 5 min but it didnt matter she had made up her mind and didnt care how much I needed to see her or someone to help with my medical needs. I am so disgusted how thoughtless she was not considering my medical history or needs or the fact I was given wrong information through no fault of my own was told the wrong time and I still did call to let them know I was almost there. She ultimatly had the power to provide me with medical care and relief but instead blew me off not caring or even giving a second thought to the fact that I will be in terrible pain, slipping deeper in to the hopeless and helpless reality of my life right now. She has no care, concideration or empathy all of which I feel is neccessary in order to work with patients at all. I will never forget how she crushed the hopes Id been building up that I was going to someone who can finally help me to get some quality of life back. I want to clarify that the U of U nor Madsen clinic is responsible for how awful that 1 PA treated me. The University Hospital has been a blessing for me but Leigh Elrod was a terrible dissappointment my hope is I can help another person from having to be subjected to the careless and selfcentered Leigh Elrod, there is so many qualified Doctors and PAs at the U so dont avoid the University Hospital or Clinics just avoid Leigh Elrod PA-C.

I gave it 2 stars only because the people were very nice and it was obvious that they were trying their best. This would be a good place to go if you have a minor medical problem, such as a sickness requiring antibiotics. If you have any other medical problems, this facility is definitely not equipped to meet your needs. I am pregnant. Because Im on student insurance, the MHC is only facility other than the hospital that the insurance will cover at an 80/20 cost. Again, the people there were very nice, but no one was truly qualified to handle my situation: I have had a C-section, a VBAC, and a miscarriage. This facility claims to provide prenatal care, but they dont have so much as fetal heart monitors or an ultrasound machine. I knew more about the risks associated with my previous pregnancies than the doctor who was treating me. (She was a 1st-year resident of internal medicine. Again, I know she was doing the best she could. She was just simply not qualified to treat me but had been assigned to, anyway.) Even the attending physician did not understand that the resident treating me was not qualified. I had to ask for a referral to an OB. Later, when I called to request a new prescription for my morning sickness meds, I was told that it would take up to 3 business days to get my prescription taken care of. When I got my blood work done at their lab, the tech drew extra blood because "the people who run these tests are always messing up, so I take extra blood so that I dont have to call you back in." I have since applied for Medicaid just so I can be treated in a facility that is up to the current standard of prenatal care.

Im so sick of hospitals forcing me to guess how much I owe them. Its like a game where if Im too high, they take the money and run, but if Im too low, they send me to a collections agency. No phone call, no letter, no attempt to get the balance from the insurance agency. When they first started taking my Utah tax return, they hadnt even attempted to bill one of my insurance companies. After I called them, they assured me it would be taken care of. Today I find out it was partially taken care of, but the insurance didnt pay the whole total, so now Im accruing interest with a collections agency. All I want is a hospital that tells me how much money they want. Thats it. It would be great if they take my insurance, but at this point I dont even care. Just tell me how much money you want, and Ill pay it. Stop sending me to collections. This is exhausting.

Madsen is fine if you have a simple, temporary ailment, and you understand your insurance plan. However, they missed my diagnosis which another doctor found easily, you will never have a doctor that knows you as they rotate theirs every year, and when I didnt understand my new insurance didnt cover $20 of my visit, they sent my account to the attorney generals office in 2 months. No calls. No emails. No notice. Frankly, the U used to be a reliably great place for care, but since their recent money rush (so many new medical buildings on campus devoted to profiting on medicine) and partnership with the HCI, their hubris has trickled down to the level where patients are no longer the priority, the money is.

I have had nothing but good experiences here and I have been seeing Dr. Pohl for about 6 years. Clinic S taff have always been courteous and friendly and there have been multiple times when they have gone above and beyond for me. Dr. Pohl is great. She takes the time to address all my needs. I dont feel rushed and she makes me feel comfortable to ask any and all questions regarding my health and treatment. I feel invested in my personal treatment plan. I would recommend this clinic and specifically Dr. Pohl, to anyone wanting a good primary care physician.

Wow, I dont know about the neg negs out there, but I have always had a great experience here. The reception staff are great and are hilarious! If you are there after 5PM you find yourself chuckling (to yourself or out loud) and I dont know if youve read the research on laughter and how good it is for you, but trust me…its good for you. My Dr. was awesome and knowledgable and took the time to talk to me. The only downfall was a slightly too long wait time, but I was apologized to right when the doc came in.
