I was seen at the Glendale location on Jan 30th, 2017 at 12:30am for right side chest pain and it was a really bad experiance. I called ahead of time to see how busy they were and the person on the other line was very rude and sounded like they hated their job and was being inconvenienced because I called. We arrived at the facility and went to the front desk the gentleman was helpful and told the nurses right away that I was having chest pain and it was causing problems when I breath. Unfortunately I ended with the nurse who answered the phone...she came into my room and started to take vitals. When the blood pressure cuff was taking my vitals it was hurting my chest, at the same time she asked me a question and I could not answer right away because I was trying to breath. She then preceded to yell at me saying "HELLO!!!" , like seriously?!?! I am trying to breath and Im having chest pain give me a chance. She then asked me why I was having chest pain, I explained that I had come in because I didnt know why...thats common sense...if I knew what was wrong why not wait and just go see my own doctor in the day time? She then asked me if it was cardiac or pulmonary....yeah...I wouldnt know the answer to that...all I can say is chest hurts on right side....Im not a doctor with doctor training to know these things. She proceeded to take medical information and asked about other medical problems, I explained I broke my foot on Novemver 11th, 2016 and my last apt with the orthopedic (8 days ago) showed it was still broken but healing. She then question why I was not in a cast...I explained my orthopedic doctor decided to take me out of the cast a week ago because my arch was dropping. She then asked if I had taken any medication and I said no...twice...then she proceeded to stare at me. After a few minutes started to asked me if I was on a narcotic pain medication?! Didnt I just say no?!?! I explained I worked a 13 hour day yesterday and didnt really sleep well because...of the chest pain!!! She then started questioning what kind of employer would allow someone to work for 13 hours, seriously?!??! There are a lot of places that people do double shifts or work long hours, why is this a surprise and why am I being question and put on trial about how many hours I worked the day before? When the doctor came in he was pleasant and listen to my chest decided on a chest x-ray and some meds to start. When the x-ray tech came he was walking a little to fast and the nurse says "slow down shes walking on a "broken foot", though I dont know how, if shes working still" Do I need to call my orthopedic to prove my foot is broken? Do I need to bring my x-rays with me to prove my foot is broken? Why is it that surprising that I work with a broken foot?! I was on a knee scooter for 6 weeks, walked in a walking boot for another 3 weeks and the doctor said my arch was dropping and to try my shoes to give the arch support and only wear it for 3.5 hours a day, resting and elevating the rest of the time...not that I should have to explain all of this to her. The doctor came in and said I have bronchitis and said he would give me prescriptions and meds in the facility. When she came back with the meds and the breathing machine medication she didnt really talk but you can tell she just doesnt not want to be there. When she came back with my discharge papers and prescriptions, she suggested I get some sleep and if I can take benadryl to try to use that to sleep!!! Omg!!! You basically accused me of being high on narcotic pain meds when I came in because I am tired and cant breath well...and now you are suggesting I self medicate to sleep...how is that not the same thing as someone taking pain meds when they dont need them. Benadryl is used for allergies not to self medicate for sleep. You take sleep meds a dcotor gives you if you need something for that. The experiance with all other staff was fine, but this nurse was just bad. You have to act like you care about the job, and not question a persons life because you think you can...ugh

Arrived about 7pm on Friday night with a curved piece of a metal spring embedded entirely in my hand. There was no way to get it out except have someone cut into my hand with a scalpel to find it and pull it out. Since it required cutting and the hand is a complicated structure with tendons and nerves vital to proper use, I decided to try this place instead of an Urgent Care since I knew Dignity uses emergency physicians and registered nurses as opposed to P.A.s and Medical Assistants like Ive encountered in Urgent Cares. My insurance required my $150 Emergency Room Copay as opposed to my $50 Urgent Care Copay. I was in and out in a little more than an hour. After some quick paperwork, I was immediately brought to one of the several large, bright well-equipped rooms and seated in a comfortable,treatment/exam chair that can be elevated. Immediately an R.N. introduced herself & took my story. In about 3-5 minutes Dr. Donald Runyan examined my hand and ordered X-rays to locate metal and determine if any major nerves, vessels,or a tendon were involved. In about 10 minutes I was in a regular hospital style X-ray room. They do CT scans and Ultrasounds, too. That took a couple minutes to get 3 views. Back to my room for about 5 minutes. Dr. back in and said it was in my muscle and no tendons, etc in the way for him to go in with scalpel and remove. He injected plenty of local anesthetic and let that take effect for 5 or 10 minutes. He then set up a sterile field, painlessly cut to the spring, removed it and sutured my hand. RN came in and re-cleaned my hand and dressed it. Dr. prescribed course of antibiotic and NSAID for pain. The numbing of the area kept it pretty pain free all night. It was an excellent experience and much better than going to a large hospital ER for something that I didnt feel comfortable for at an Urgent Care, but didnt call for sitting and waiting with very sick people and major traumas. The facility is great--youll feel like you are in a regular ER--if it were a brand new, clean and well-equiped ER. The front staff were friendly and helpful, the RNs friendly, professional and answered all my aftercare questions thoroughly and Dr Runyan was friendly, professional and did a super job on my hand. Thanks to you all!

I went to this er over the weekend with kidney stones. It was the worst most degrading experience I ever had in my life. Instead of treating me they made me feel like a criminal or some kind of drug addict. First off the Dr Humphrey Had the bed side manner of adolf Hitler. The nurses were just as bad. They left me in a room for over a hour with no assistance or care while they sat on there asses at the nurses station talking about football scores. Meanwhile Im in agonizing pain and the just brushed me off like a joke. They insinuated that I was faking my pain and looking for pain killers. The nurse told me that they do not prescribe narcotics right away before anything, before asking me what was wrong I didnt ask for pain killers that was the last thing on my mind. . I simply wanted to know what was wrong. They sterotyped my because Im big and black 64 300 pounds with a lot of tattoes. They assumed that I was there looking to get high and treated me accordingly. The nurse made the statement that I was there during "med hours" he then went on to say that most people that come to that er during the hours of 1am to 3am are seeking drugs. Long story short they gave me a ct scan and came back and said I was fine. He gave me some pain meds equivalent to advil and sent me on my way. I have no doubt that dr humprey is racist I can sue this hospital if I was petty like that. I had to leave there and go to another er because I was in so much pain I had know doubt that Dr Humphreys was wrong about my diagnosis. Well just like I expected I was given another ct at banner thunderbird and I was told I had a 3mm kidney stone. I have the images from banner thunderbird to prove it. The Dr at banner thunderbird said she doubts they even read the ct scan. She said there is no way a trained I eye could miss a 3mm kidney stone on a ct scan. Dignity er is a disgrace I think they should relocate to a place like Mississippi or alabama where racism is accepted and is a way of life. Phoenix is to diverse of a city to sterotype people or have racist preconceived notions about people. Half of your patients are going to be minorities. Brown or black people. Who deserve to be treated with respect.
