I brought my Abbie in she was peeing blood and the doctor never fully examined her. she just insisted on a urine sample and my poor Abbie wasnt able to walk or move and I kept telling her that she will drink the water and urinate on herself since she is in pain and too weak to move. She picked up my Abbie by her abdomen put her under her arm like a rolled up newspaper. My poor Abbie wouldnt let me touch that area she would weeze from pain if I gently touched that area and when the doctor came back in she let Abby down to the ground to walk it off knowing she is in pain and cant walk. She came back 5 mins later after the "urine sample" she tested and said she has an infection or might have stones I was given a chose of pills antibiotics or the shot I chose the shot and to come back for a two week check up to see what else it could be if it hasnt stopped. took Abbie home with high hopes that she is going to be alright. This morning I come home from work and my Abbie passed away just a day after the visit. Abbie must have been suffering dying in pain and this doctor who could have cared less for my baby let her suffer more. It might not be the doctors fault my dog passed away but its her fault letting her continue suffering. She could have done more. She could have put some effort into my dogs visit. I went in 10:30 I was out by 11:10 on my way home. Her nurse even was surprised by the release and said but your dog is shaking. Just now Im realizing she wasnt shaking from being cold she was shaking from the pain the doctor inflicted on her carrying her that way and setting her on the floor to walk. Poor treatment. You would think that she would care more as a Vet but I guess not. I feel like people should know that that lady doesnt care about your pet. She just doesnt you can see it in her eyes.

Sitting in my office missing my Dog... and I remembered how poorly this Vet Treats your furry family and I pray no one else is suffering as I am 5 months later..... Poor diagnostics skills!! I DONT RECOMMEND going here if you fear your dog may have a life threatening situation!! My baby died LESS THAN 24hrs of being told she only HAD A UTI and to follow up in two weeks!! Careless Vet. Retire, find a new profession, do something that requires absolutely ZERO COMPASSION. If we were told our dog had less than 24hrs to live or even given the impression her situation wasnt as dire as it was, we would have stopped her suffering or helped make it easier then and THERE! Money was not an issue, since Ive read thats their modus operandi!!! I absolutely do not blame her passing on the vet, however, if the vet actually did her duties as a VETERINARIAN this review would have gone a bit different. To throw salt into the wound: my sister called hysterical when She passed to talk to the vet and find out How this could have happened? Was the 2 weeks worth of antibiotics too much too soon? Did you not diagnose her properly? Do you lack the proper equipment, knowledge, or moral compass? Lo and behold, THE VET WAS "too busy" to take her call; understandable, as I pray she was giving the other furry friends her undivided attention *cough* but wait for it, the receptionist had no problem showing her compassion. "so sorry for your loss (NO pause) do you want to bring her in and have her cremated?" CHA CHING!!!

I have been a dog owner for 26 years and Mya, a Dogue De Bordeaux, is now my 6th Adult dog. Over the years, I had interactions with multiple veterinary hospitals ranging from great to not so great. Antioch Animal Hospital has proven in a short time to be one of, if not, the best to date. Not only where they friendly and caring from the start with both myself and Mya, but have proven themselves to be experts for more extensive visits. Mya recently had surgery for both a Spay and Gastroplexy (tying the stomach to prevent Torsion, or twisting of the stomach from bloat). A surgery I was reluctant to do, but as I lost my Great Dane recently to Torsion, it was something I felt needed to be done. Dr. Garvey put me at ease from the start, and over the past 2 weeks, has proven to not only be an exceptional doctor, but someone who is kind and caring to my dog, and always available to take my questions. I also wanted to share I was given a quote for the surgery, and though it was not cheap (understandably so), the bill was less than quoted. I had several unexpected follow up visits (Mya loosened a few staples and had diarrhea), and Antioch Animal Hospital did not charge me anything for those additional visits. In Summary, I could not be happier with the care provided. The facility is a clean as any hospital I have ever visited, their staff is exceptional and caring, and the Dr. Garvey is fantastic!!! They score an A++ in my opinion.

Unfortunately I rescued a dog back in August from a friend who could no longer keep her in the new place he was moving. Everything was great until we got a puppy. She is VERY protective of this new puppy. Out of no where she attacked the dog that came over and played with her for months. I paid their vet bill all $250.00. For Lake county you have to have an initial visit for rabies review another after 10 days. At the 10th day visit the vet suggested to do a liver function because she saw that I had refilled Rimadyl for her arthritis. Didnt mention the fact that the blood test was $173.75. 4 weeks later again she bit another dog that came in to our yard to see the puppy. I paid their bill. $111. When we brought our dog for the lake county required rabies review we asked if we could get a discount or waive the fee. The vet said because of lake county being involved, she really couldnt discount. Thats bull. Weve been going there for 16 years. We spent over $600. In May of 2016 with our dog that had liver cancer which they could not even diagnose after xrays and 2 ultra sounds. Was only diagnosed when we took him to UW Madison. They saw his liver was enlarged with the first ultra sound. We will be finding a new vet.

I have taken my dogs to the animal hospital for 20 years. In the past two years however, I have found that appointments are difficult to obtain. I have also found that if there is an emergency, I was referred to the emergency clinic in Grayslake far too often when they were open for more than an hour/even a day, because there were no open appointments. (I know this sounds excessive, but I had adopted a puppy with pneumonia etc... I have 4 dogs) This caused me to take my pet to the clinic in the middle of the day....try different clinics in the area to see if they could see a "new client," etc... Although the emergency clinic does fine work, I think many pet owners realize that it costs triple what vet services would normally cost. Needless to say, after 20 years I am leaving the clinic/hospital. It just doesnt work for me. The folks are nice, they did a nice job in the past, but they just are not willing to help long standing customers. I have found service elsewhere.
