I recently had my first visit with Duke Animal Hospital and was very satisfied. First of all, the normal hours of operation are enormously convenient. I cant stress enough how much of a difference it makes to have so much flexibility in scheduling appointments. At our old vet, making an appointment required either making plans to interrupt our work day, or calling very far in advance in order to grab a weekend spot. Duke is the only clinic Ive seen that has extended weekday hours, and full workday hours for the entire weekend. I was also very pleased with the level of confidence and communication I received. Again, at my old vet it was not unusual to bring our animals in for upwards of five visits to try to treat the same condition. At one point we had to try a different antibiotic to treat my cats UTI every two weeks, until we eventually had tried them all and began circling back around to the beginning and trying them again. Things at Duke seem more organized and less likely to turn into that. On checkout, I received a full medical record for the visit, including a summary of our initial discussion / presenting conditions and a summary of the diagnosis and treatment plan. I was also emailed a PDF of the same document which I have saved for my permanent records. This all gives me the impression that organization and quality are a priority for Duke, which is very reassuring given my past experiences. All staff members that I met were also very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the wait time. I was in the office for approximately two hours total, including a 40 minute wait for a urinalysis that I was told would take 15 minutes. However, I was told by two separate employees that there had been three emergency appointments before I arrived, and given the quality of the rest of my experience Im willing to assume thats true and they were doing the best they could with the inundation of extra work. This first appointment was a test run for us because Duke is much closer to our newer apartment, and because we were able to be seen on a Sunday, and Im leaning toward making Duke Animal Hospital our new permanent vet. Edit 12/31: Weve been back twice now after two of our cats picked up an upper respiratory infection. Once again we received all the same outstanding treatment that I wrote about the first time, but the wait times have been much better. Both times we arrived early, but from the scheduled appointment time to when we left, it was about 40 minutes and 25 minutes each.

Usually have good experiences here but today I saw Dr. Davis and as was mentioned in another review, I felt she was condescending. I recently switched my dog to a healthier dog food and she has a sensitive stomach and lost 4 pounds in the process, which we are actively trying to help her regain. We are feeding her home cooked meals in addition to the new dry food and I have done a ton of research on which meats and protein sources work well for my dog and which give her diarrhea. Instantly, Dr. Davis assumed I had no idea what I was doing and informed me I was running the risk of giving my dog heart disease because she may not be getting enough taurine. We are doing absolutely the best we can and we know our dogs needs better than most traditional vets, especially one who thinks a dogs nutritional needs can be met solely through cheap low grade dog food and not any home cooked foods. Very disappointed with how I was handled. I understand disagreeing with a patient but there is absolutely NO need to make them feel they are harming their dog when they infact are helping as best they can when traditional dog food and veterinary recommendations dont solve all the problems. I also need to say every other vet that I have seen here has been wonderful, love the vet techs and all the receptionists. Hopefully this was an anomaly and it wont happen again.

I will admit that the staff is friendly and super nice. Our favorite doctor was Janine Delia. Try and get her if you do end up going but I gave it one star because of how the leading doctor handled our case. We went for a checkup for a lump we found on our dog. They said that 95% of the time that the lump in this specific area will be cancerous . They went over all of the medical things we would have to do for our dog and basically left us in the belief that he had cancer. My girlfriend and I were heartbroken as we just adopted him. We got the test that day (Friday or Saturday, cant remember) and were told that we would get the results back Monday at the latest and they would tell us then since it was an urgent matter. Nothing in the afternoon on Monday so I called and they told me that we should hear from someone soon. after getting the results that morning. Nothing. Called again Tuesday afternoon and they said the same thing. Nothing. Called again Wednesday and every day for the rest of the week and got the same answer from the front desk and nothing came to us until Saturday night (a week later) at midnight. We receive an email that said he didnt have cancer. Great news for our dog but very poorly handled on the hospitals part. They had the results monday and they couldnt have someone look over them all week? We havent been back since.

The doctors and staff at Dukes Animal Hospital are truly the best. I have had extremely positive experiences with everyone here. First of all they notify you about everything in a timely and curteous manner. Second, they are always available to answer questions and are always kind and again patient. Third, everything is uploaded to a digital portal that you can access from anywhere not to mention they are super prompt to responding both to inqueries (they have responded quickly to both calls and emails). I have been to several vets all around the city and none are more professional, or genuinely kind then everyone at this location! Dr. Delia just performed by dogs teeth cleaning and kept me updated frequently. I was impressed, obviously, but everyone played a role in her procedure and I also was impressed by the main technicians were Corinne and Jamie. Finally, Nolan reviewed everything with me when I came to pick her up. If you want to go to the best veterinarian/ animal hospital - you need to come here. Im not kidding. I have never been more impressed and you wont be disappointed. This is the best of the best! Thank you for treating my Bree like she was your own! Will never go anywhere else after this. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

As a pet care company owner and neighboring business, I am proud to say that I had my first visit with Duke Animal Hospital today. Our little french bulldog, Mabel the babe, was seen by Dr.Delia and staff. I called in at 4:00pm and they were able to see us at 4:30pm. Talk about prompt! They were easygoing and understanding when it took me a bit to scrounge up her vaccination records etc since we just adopted her recently. All of the staff were courteous, communicative and professional during the visit from start to finish. They were respectful that Mabel isnt ready to be touched (she is still in rehab from her former life as a puppy mill mother). They answered all of my questions and reassured me that the cut inside her mouth (the reason I frantically called at the last minute) was just fine and they did not run a million tests. We got her the influenza and lepto vaccines quickly and at my request, they gave us some wipes for our babys "adult onset acne" as I call it. They emailed me all receipts, a breakdown, and a reminder for our upcoming booster shots. Thank you for your promptness, compassion, and thorough visit. We look forward to bringing Mabel back in for her follow up visits.
