I would not recommend this facility or anyone in it ever . Our experience with them.We had at the time a very sick puppy. Took him there on recommendation . I felt uneasy on the way up there. Should have listened to my gut ,its never wrong. All of the staff we encountered except one, were cold and uncaring during my pups week stay. They were stumped as to what was causing symptoms. Were not in the slightest open to any suggestion about treatment . Having owned dogs for years and therefore seeing lots of different things go wrong..you pick general experience. Some symptoms you treat with certain things when others fail. When I inquired about the alternatives since what they were doing wasnt working ..in fact he continued to lose weight ,have severe diarrhea, vomit and not eat.I was met with cold stares and a, no what we are doing is how to treat this. When we would visit my boy was depressed, lethargic, sad ,(yes some due to sickness)and looked like he was just left in a cage all day with no attention. After a week of being on I.V fluids losing another 7 pds while there .My pet insurance of 3,000 used up. They released him. He was no better ,they could not tell me what the problem was and refused as stated to try a particular medicine for treatment of diarrhea and try a alternative for loss of appetite and vomiting .They said unless I was able to provide another 2,000 up front they would not keep him. I took him out took him immediately to the Madison Wisconsin Teaching school where they were willing to take a partial payment .Admitted him, they where open ,warm ,caring and receptive to my questions as to whether or not the things would work I suggested to Eastern Iowa .Those suggestions in conjunction with their other treatments and foods they tried had my boy within the week on the road to recovery .The one thing I noticed after two days of him being there .The look of giving up was gone out of his eyes. They would let us go back to see where he was kenneled ,in fact took us back there.Something Eastern NEVER allowed . Another thing they did I never saw Eastern do..love on,play ,interact and pet my boy. They all truly cared about his welfare. Not once did I ever see ANYONE at Eastern pet ,talk or really even look at my pup other then to put a leash on him and lead him back to his cell. Today he is a beautiful loving 200 plus pd happy Mastiff. No thanks to a facility that cared only about money.

Eastern Iowa Vet Center was amazing! We brought in my 8 month old kitten after a table had fallen on her. We knew it was bad so we rushed her there. They were waiting at the doors for us. They took Marci into the back and took Me and My boyfriend and friends to a room to wait for the doctor. The doctor came in and explained everything to us in great detail and words we could understand. She told us our chances of Marci living was 50/50. I wanted the x-rays to make sure and she went right way to them. She came back and told us the bad news. Marci wasnt going to make it. She explained everything she found and explained our options. We chose to put Marci down, and even though they couldnt put Marci down the normal way we were still allowed to be there. They brought Marci into our room and let us say goodbye to her for about 15 minutes, it couldve been longer but Marci was in a lot of pain so we told the doctor to take her in the back and do it so they could try and give her more meds for the pain. And then Marci was gone. They let us hang out in the room a little while after and never pushed us about paying. We walked out of the room with tears rolling down our faces, each one of the girls behind the desk were so sweet and said that they were sorry for our loss. About a week later I went and checked my mail and there was a sympathy card from them. They went above and beyond what they needed to do for us. They were amazing and I can never thank them enough for everything they did for us in our time of need. Thank you to everyone who worked the night of February 14th. You all will always be part of Marcis journey and I will never forget that.

We were transferred here after our 9yr old treeing walker was hit by a garbage truck. Upon arrival he was immediately taken for xrays and testing. He was ultimately admitted for a stay of 30hrs. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR: day one ended up costing me $1400 for xrays, fluids, testing, staples, 24hr nurse care, and more. I was shocked by the fees, but then I was taken back to see him before I left and their place is very nice. He had a large oversized kennel for his accommodations, he was hooked up to a heart monitor and looked very comfortable given the situation. And plenty of blankets. The room was dimmed for peace and comfort and very quiet. DAY 2: I was called first thing in the AM with an update and overnight monitoring. I had some decisions to make and they were very patient as I consulted with my local vet. This day cost me an extra $300 for more lab work, 3 prescriptions and fluids. They do over charge you if your pet is staying, but moneys are refunded if you dont use it all. All in all my experience was good. My only complaint is my wait on lab results that were promised in 24 hrs. I had to get my local vet to contact them for the results 72hrs later. The cost was a bit of a shock and now that everything has calmed down I think to myself the prices are ridiculous, until a family member who is a vet said they are the best at what they do. I feel justified in what I paid and my pooch is home.

Cant say enough good things. Its not cheap, but its 24 hr specialty care, so it shouldnt be. Early Friday morning I found my 8 yr old Boston Terrier Daisy having a seizure. As this was new for her, I had no idea what to do. I called my vet, and their voicemail said to call EIVSC. When we walked in they were waiting for us, and whisked Daisy away to the back. They managed to stop the seizing, and to give her meds that reduced the swelling on her brain. She was blind and lame for the first 24 hrs, and we were seriously considering putting her down. Dr Roa must have talked to me every hour during the day Friday, and was never anything but patient and frank, even when I was a sobbing mess on the phone. He gave me lots of options, and I was never unaware of costs that we were incurring. Daisy stayed at EIVSC for about 36 hrs total, and throughout her whole stay, the staff and vets were in constant communication with us. The vets respected our need to keep cost low while giving Daisy the best chance for survival. When we picked Daisy up Saturday afternoon, the staff made sure we understood exactly how to care for her after we went home. Shes not the same dog, but shes improving little by little each day, and we are so grateful for the staff and vets at EIVSC for giving us some more time with our little dog.
