I love Dr. P. He has taken care of all my dogs since I was 23 years old and now I am 40. I had an emergency with my current yorkie, where she broke her leg. The emergency overnight vet told me it would be $4000.00 for her to have surgery. I took her to Dr. P the next day for a second opinion and I am happy I did. He told me she did not need surgery, and that she would be fine. It has been 3 months now and she is perfect. I love his honesty and expertise he has on animals. He is not in it to get rich or take advantage of people. He really does enjoy helping people and giving back. I will continue to take my pets here, as long as he is still a part of the practice.

WOW.. When delta Animal Clinic Physicians took over, I knew the prices would skyrocket and they did.. every shot and office visit was almost double of triple of what Im used to paying. This is a neighborhood that looks for low cost vacs for their pets, The fees here are just too much. I understand the original Vet is getting older, I will miss him. if you need an example of costs, The original cost for Rabis etc and office visit was $80.. Now its $200.. Per PET .. I hope the new owners do not burn this place down with their prices :(

Westside Animal Hosp has been in the same location for longer than I have been alive. They are actually the last of the original businesses on Chicago Ave from when my family moved to the Austin area in 1973. Now they have a new owner. I took my first pet there in 1978 (I was 14 y/o) now Im 51 y/o and will travel 35 miles just to bring my pet in. I took my dog in last year during the transition from Dr. P to the new owner. I hope the service is the same and hope the prices remain affordable.

I originally started going to this vet because he was cheap. There was an old school European vet there. Then a another vet came in and killed my sisters dog by giving him too much anesthesia. He forced my vet to retire and raised the prices. Now I only take my dog there for his shots or for minor stuff. If my animals need anything major, Ill take them to a "real" vet that wont kill my animal and then just shrug it off like it doesnt matter.

Hours: Mon Tue Thu Fri 9-4, Sat 9-1. Closed Wed and Fri. Only takes cash; call ahead to get an estimate of cost of treatment (theyre usually right on in their estimates). Cheapest place Ive found yet for basic animal care: wounds, spaying, yearly shots, ear/urinary infections. Ive never had to take my dogs in for anything really serious, thankfully. The receptionist cat who greets you is shamelessly friendly and a lot of fun. :->

Previous owner was really the best in Chicago! We always been visiting, because of great prices and customer service and friendliness. But since he sold it - service going down. All they care now is how to get more money out of your pocket. Prices went up a lot without reasons. And they would charge for extra services which your pets dont even need. BE AWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!!

The service was fast and affordable. He explained what was going on with Babygirl (my cat). I explained an extreme emergency situation to him and he was waiting for me when we arrived. I was afraid that I wouldnt be able to afford services but he was afforable. My cat has a new vet!!!!

This Guy, Dr. P is fantastic. He has taken great care of three animals for me; 2 cats and 3 dogs. Hell send you away at no cost if he thinks theres no problem or do great surgery at a reasonable price. He cant be beat! He there basically as a public service not to get rich!

I would like the older man to come back if its possible, hes name was pops.. He was so much nicer and not racist like the other tall older guy there who had an attitude, the older lady was wonderful tho a sweetheart.
