I was hesitant about writing a review because I felt responsible and embarrassed for my dogs actions but I believe what happened and how they responded to a situation like this should be noted for anyone who may run into a similar issue. My dog unfortunately attacked a staff member and I felt awful! He doesnt act like this at home, the dog park, public settings or friends houses. Hes friendly and loves other animals and kids. He gets terrified when he walks into this place and may seem to get aggressive so I agreed to put a muzzle on him when we visit. I was never made aware of any special notes they had on his file or anything of that nature. Im so sorry my dog bit someone but the vet suggested that I put him down at only 1 year old, she said he couldnt be trained and that obident school would not help. She refused to perform his surgery, which I understood. What I didnt understand was her unprofessional behavior,, she acted as a 14 year old teenage girl who was upset because things got complicated. She compared him to a gangbanger and then said I was a neglecting mother. I was shocked. She slammed the door in my face behind her as I was walking out with her for the last rabies evaluation since that is protocol for any dog bite. It was extremely unprofessional. She needs to be trained on how to deal with timid dogs and not jump to the conclusion of putting dogs down. I was nothing but kind to her and the staff. The staff members are all extremely kind. That vet just has serious personal issues that should be addressed

Brought my cat in with an ear infection and he was treated, he was sedated and sent home with a topical solution wich was applied. One month later the problem with his ears was still an issue and when I called to see what could be done I was basically told I would have to pay for another visit and more meds. I feel like for 263$ he shouldnt still have an infection. They said he was so severe last time he needed to be brought back in and that is understandable but if he was so severe why wasnt I given antibiotics to give to him at home as well? Very disappointed that my cat is suffering now with the same issue he originally had and I now have to wait til I can take him to a different place. I feel for the money that was paid the vet should have at least offered another medication for my animal.

I used the Animal Clinic of South Elgin and Dr Churan, first for my dog Bailey and then for my dog Duffy, for over 10 years. I found them to be some of the most caring people Ive ever met. I not only used their vet services but I also took advantage of their boarding services. When my Bailey became gravely ill, they took care of him like their own. I never had a problem getting an appointment, even at the last minute. Although the old facility was not the greatest, their compassion and dedication made it unimportant. Now they are in a new, beautiful building. The only reason that I no longer take Duffy to Dr Churan is because I recently moved to Wheaton. If I still lived in the South Elgin area you better believe that I would be using the Animal Clinid of South Elgin.

Declawing young kittens that have not even had the chance to learn what behaviors are acceptable in the home is in *direct violation* of the AVMAs policy on declawing, i.e., that it should be "a LAST resort after attempts to prevent the cat from using its claws destructively have been made." This doctor and your clinic are demonstrating staggering ignorance and a lack of professional ethics by promoting declawing (which has been banned as animal cruelty in numerous other countries as well as in 8 cities in California) as innocuous or beneficial. I am a former veterinary technician and I left the profession because of vets exactly like you, who refuse to provide their clients with all the facts necessary for informed consent to elective surgery.

This Vet seems to be only interested in selling supplements. Fixing issues with my animal was secondary. Communication is poor. It seems like a chop shop. How many animals can we rush through here in a day. Condescending attitude. X-rays of the wrong limb. X-rays of the wrong area of the correct limb. Still had to pay for it. I only saw the x-rays after going to another Vet. $1500 and no solution for my animals problem. $350 at a Vet in Saint Charles. Problem fixed. FYI; Your dog will be moved to another room so they can muzzle and take a temp. They dont tell you, they just walk out. No other Vet has ever taken my animal out of my sight.

They dont even deserve one star. My wife brought her dog here and they were extremely rude to her and her dog. They offered no solution for our dogs rash, the vet simply loaded our pup with medication and NO directions. It was a 45 minute wait in the waiting room with appointment and Jean saw our dog for a total of two minutes then had her waiting for another 20 minutes for the prescription. we just moved to the area from st Charles and thats the only reason why we tried this place out. never again will we be back, we will make the trip to st Charles for any future help we need. It is 110% worth it . Dont risk your pets health for this place

if i could rate this place lower than a one i would. Last time i was there the "staff" or thats what they seem to call themselves dropped a tea cup chihuahua from the top of the table in the ONE room that they have. Everyone heard the dog drop and people gasping and crying. UM thats disturbing. Another time i was there i saw one of the "staff" members carry out a dead dog....come on really???? They always tell me my dog is bad...hes a PUPPY for goodness sake. So yeah im glad he did bite you....let me chop off your ears and see how much you would like it. THIS PLACE IS A NASTY. smells like crap

We have been bringing our pets here for around 20 years now. I have always found Dr. Churan to be competent and caring. The staff members that have been around for 5-10 years are good. I cannot really speak to some of the newer people, except to say that they are a little green and need a little customer service training. They are what they are and we have come to expect good care for our pets. Agreed - The place smells awful! They are building a new facility next door, so, hopefully, that will be finished soon and be better maintained.

Dr. Churan has cared for our two cats for over 5 years even though we no longer live in the area. We have a Tabby and a Maine Coon that have both have benefited from her advice, especially when it came to potty training issues. We have also had problems with hairballs and vomiting which she was able to assess and prescribe the proper medication for. We are much better off after having Dr. Churan care for our cats, my wife and I have less frustration and the cats have been much more comfortable and well behaved!
