WOULDNT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE, NASTY DISRESPECTFUL AND DONT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT TAKING PEOPLES MONEY. HONESTLY I DONT EVEN SEE HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS!! My children have a pet rat named Oreo, he developed a lump on his back leg so we took his to Kestone Pet Hospital. When entering the woman at the front desk was very nasty puckering her face up when she seen that it was a rat that was in the cage we were holding. She said she had been there for a long time and didnt know that the doctor seen pet rats and to make sure we kept him in the case so he wouldnt get loose. We filled out paper work and was called back in about 10 mins. They sit us in a the room and said the doctor would be in shortly. The doors were still open and we heard the workers and the doctors laughing and they said its a rat, one said ewwww nasty then I heard the doctor say Ill fix it put the nasty thing to sleep, then they all started laughing. Note that my daughter was here with me luckily she was to busy focusing on Oreo to pay attention to them. The doctor came in and I just wanted to stand up and punch him in the face, but didnt. Instead I asked my daughter to step out of the room with Oreo, and asked the doctor how much experience he had with rats, he said he had seen at least 20 rats and did surgery on 6. I then asked him how many animals has he put to sleep because he thought they were nasty, he pause with a surprised look. I then said you know if you are going to take crap about someone and their animals then you might want to make sure the doors are closed and you arent screaming it. I turned around and we left. I then called back today and asked for a copy of the bill that they charged me $40 for nothing. The woman working at the desk was different then the one that was there before she asked my name and the animals name, she was very nice unlike the one that was there before. I told her his name was Oreo and he was a pet rat, she said oh really we dont see pet rats here. She said ive been here for 9yrs and Ive never seen the doctor look at a pet rat. I said what? He told me he had tons of experience with rats and did 6 surgerys. She said well it must have all been on days i wasnt working. Cause ive never even seen anyone bring a pet rat in.

When my 11 year old dog started having diarrhea, I immediately drove to Keystone Pet Hospital to make an appointment. When I called the line would say "Im sorry, there is no one to take your call, please press zero to leave a message". When you pressed zero, it just looped the message again, hence why I drove there. The first visit went okay. Although, Dr. Johnson barely made eye contact with my dog, let alone touch her. He gave her a few meds to help stop the diarrhea and gave me canned food for her to have. I had to take her back for another follow up because she still had diarrhea and was sent home with more of the same meds, again did not even acknowledge. A few months later, she is now constipated. I take her in for another visit and explain that I had been giving her pumpkin to try to loosen things up a bit. The vet tech told me to stop immediately (?) and made a weird face when she felt my dogs stomach. Dr. Johnson came into the office about 10 minutes later and tells me to give her pumpkin and metamucil. I explained to him that I had already been giving her the pumpkin and he just replies with "huh.. that sound have loosened her up" and walked out. AGAIN not even acknowledging my dog. I went to a second vet to get another opinion and turns out she has an impacted colon and an infection in her uterus. She is scheduled to have her spay surgery as soon as possible. If I had not gone and got a second opinion, my dog would have DIED due to his negligence and not taking my concerns seriously. I will never go back to this office again! He relies completely on his vet techs to do the diagnosis and does not listen to the owner, at all. I ask you this : Would you take a child to a pediatrician who ignored your concerns and barely acknowledged your child? I absolutely would not.

We had taken our dog to this vet once. That visit was for routine checkup and shots. We were tired of paying huge bills to other vets, and this place was recommended as reasonably priced. The building is older and the interior is simple, but I didnt really care. I want my money to go for care, not overhead! The receptionist and vet tech were very kind and friendly. The dr. was direct and no nonsense, I was told pretty directly that my dog needed to lose weight. But, he really did, so the recommendation was right on the money. A year later our 12 year old dog seemed to get drastically ill very quickly. I called and made an appt. for the first day I wasnt working- 2 days out. Later the same day it was clear he was pretty sick. I called back and was able to talk to the vet and describe the problems our dog was having. The vet said I neeed to bring him in sooner than the appt. We took him in the next morning and left him there for the day for the vet to examine. The office staff called and left a message updating me on my dogs health. The vet didnt suggest lots of pricey tests- my dog had a temperature so he was treated for an infection. I was able to ask questions and get answers that were direct and focused on the health of my dog. We took hiim home and watched him as the antibiotics kicked in. It took several days, but our dog soon was back to his old self! I really appreciate the quick, reliable care they gave our dog- and the information that I was given by the doctor and staff to help treat my dog for his illness.

Ok, so they arent in the most beautiful space, but they the best place weve EVER taken our own pets (4 cats and 3 dogs) as well as many, many fosters over the last 6 years. In fact, many local rescues go to Dr. Johnson because he is all about making sure you can afford to take care of your 4-legged family members, NOT nickel and diming you as other reviews have stated. Would love to know where these people have gone before, because as a former client of Broad Ripple Animal Clinic, and Michigan Road, I can honestly say Ive recieved better service and for waaaay less than we were ever charged before. Dr. Johnson is a bit brusk, but he really does care. As for those whove lost a pet, I truely am sorry. However, anytime anyone is put under anesthesia (2 or 4 legged) there are always risks.

I do not recommend this pet hospital for any services. Extermely rude and beligerent staff toward not only me but representatives of my vet and the vet herself when seeking clarification on a proceedure. Records requested by vet on monday are completely different than the set sent on friday when a treatment was questioned. Falsifying records.. really??!! Just because theyre animals DOES NOT mean they deserve substandard care! Not to mention we were told ears were fine and no hearing issues yet the records show absolutely NO documentation showing ears were checked. Had they been checked like they claimed, the severe infections in both ears would have been caught! Save yourself the agravation and take your pet elsewhere.
