Ive been going to the VA since i got out of the service, and Im still alive. I mean, obviously that means something, right? Lol.. They havent got me yet. I think the VA hospital staff does a great job considering all the crap they have to put up with. Honestly, I wouldnt put up with a fraction of the stuff that these people deal with on a day to day basis... while serving Veterans. I think that speaks volumes that the government couldnt pay me enough money to do the jobs that these people do every day. In my humble opinion, all of these hospital workers all play a vital role in the process of service to Veterans, and each role is just as Honorable as the Veterans service. These people are serving their country too. So a few months ago I went in to have this weird looking thing cut off my leg at the specialty clinic. Now, I would have cut the damn thing off myself if I could reach it... but I couldnt reach it. So..this lady named Robin Vinson had the pleasure of cutting this disgusting black growth off my leg. During the procedure she had to "Cauterize" a section of my leg, and that smells pretty damn gross. Honestly, I wouldnt do that for most people, and I am glad that she is willing and able to do that for me. I think stating that she did a great job is a fair assessment of that situation. I mean, what would I have done without the assistance of Robin and her staff? I cant afford to go to the civilian hospital, its not something that I could have taken care of myself, and it would have taken a significant amount of alcohol for me to trust one of my buddies to do the procedure... So, I think the people that work at this VA hospital are doing a great job to accommodate and keep the local Veterans healthy and alive. I couldnt ask for a better job if I wanted to. Thank you all for helping me out. I geniinely appreciate it.

I waited till I was 46 years old before taking advantage of my VA medical benefits. This was primarily because I was under the impression that VA healthcare was third rate and full of incompetence. Wow, what a mistake. I have received some of the best care possible in the past four years. I have developed relationships with numerous staff that I believe would be impossible at any other healthcare facility. These are healthcare professionals in every sense of the word. They are competent and compassionate and go above and beyond in so many ways that there is not enough space in this review to adequately describe all of my positive experiences! Yes there have been some moments where things may have been handled better but we are talking about a few isolated instances in a government run facility that happen from time to time. But overall I cant say enough just how much better my life has been as a result of turning my healthcare needs over to the VA! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Roudebush VA Medical Center. I am forever grateful to have this facility and its services available in my life!

I called last Friday to get an appointment, they have me under my previous married name, the lady was on a hurry to get my info, said I was her last call of the day. She gave me a number for scheduling-Chriss said he would call me back Monday morning. He didnt call, I called him at 2:22 pm. Said I was seen there in 2006 for my out-processing physical so I asked why I was under a name I hadnt used in well over 20 years, my last name was Hodson when I processed out. He didnt know. Made me an appointment for May 23, then he said I would have to speak to folks down stairs, said I wasnt in the system yet so the appointment was no good. Tried to call health benefits...no answer...had to leave a message, again! Wow...retired with over 25 years of service and its like pulling teeth to get an appointment. I need to be re-evaluated sooner rather than later. Once I visit the clinic I will re-assess my evaluation.

My 86 year Father in law was shot in Korean and had wounds that made him permanently disabled. The 1st day we went to VA in Indianapolis we could not believe the care and the organization this hospital had. He had an illness last summer that he was taken to the IU Medical center, considered to be one of the best facilities in Indianapolis for his Gaul Bladder issues. IU released him way to early and had to go back to the hospital within a few days after being dismissed. He was sent to the VA hospital in Indy and had far better care than was provided by the IU Medical Center. These people seem to care and they did a very good job of improving his health to the point he could go back to the nursing home. Thank you to this medical center for all you have done for him.

The doctors and staff at the VA hospital saved my life, my foot, and my career. My experience at the hospital was totally positive. I contracted necrotizing fasciitis and every team necessary ( gen. surgery, wound care, Infectious disease control, Plastic surgery, and Physical therapy) went to work on my case. I cant thank everyone at the hospital enough for saving my whole way of life. Indy vets will be glad to know that these doctors and staff members are totally competent and able. I do have to say though that the food is terrible, but youre not in the hospital to eat. Thanks to Janet Gauze, Dr. Cole, Fred (wound care), the nurses on the 7th floor, Dr. Lowenstein, Todd (social work), and many others whose names I cant remember. Thanks for everything.

I need to be honest, every single time I have been here, I have not gotten the care that I need. I have ended up walking out of the er because the Dr neglected my need. Then I scheduled an appointment with my provider and they didnt do anything. There are too many people here all the time and I dont feel like Im getting my need met because Im waiting all day for everybody else. The service there is not timely by any means. I hate coming here but I have no choice. The va either needs to expand and add more staff or people are going to die while they wait. Im a veteran too and my need is just as important, but apparently everyone elses takes precedence. We need prompt service. This is ridiculous and I hate it.

Dr. William Baker in the Allergy Clinic is the most courteous and thorough M.D. Ive encountered in a long time. I was very impressed that he took time before our consultation to review my medical records and I felt he genuinely wanted to help me resolve my condition. At the end of my exam, he made sure all my questions were answered, gave me clear information on the next steps, and even took the time to point me in the direction of the blood draw clinic. Ive had good experiences with the VA Medical Center and usually find the staff to be friendly and helpful. However, this is the first review I have felt compelled to write as I believe Dr. Bakers professionalism merited such.

I have been trying to get an appt since feb 2017, they first tell me I can get approved for the choice program so I wait for them to send the required docs over to the choice program. That took over 5 weeks for them to do that. Then the choice program never makes the appt in the allowed time frame, so then the va cancels me in the choice program. So I call the va to see what they want me to do, now they say Im not approved for the choice program. But my nurse wont make the damn appts I need! I cant deal with the va anymore, Im going to buy insurance and actually get good med care! Now I know why vets die on wait lists! This place is a joke!
