I’m giving them one star only because I cannot give them a lower evaluation. My experience (or nightmare) was specifically at the Women’s Center in Sts Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. I was told to be there at 8 AM with full bladder for two ultrasounds and my husband took me there on July 5th. The time was perfect because we had to go to work and I thought that being seen first thing in the morning would leave us plenty of time to arrive on time. I got at this horrible place with a full bladder and I kept drinking water so the specialist could see better everything in the ultrasound. They asked me to pay $100 towards the deductible. Until that moment everything went downhill. At 9 AM I couldn’t take it no more, I was in pain with my bladder about to burst. I couldn’t find a good position in my seat or stay still. I asked the indifferent receptionist if it would take longer because I was in pain. She told me it should be any minute but didn’t make an effort to get out of her chair and go to find out. I was trying to calm myself and think it couldnt take any longer because I had already waited for more than an hour. As I don’t like to complain, I try to hold a little bit longer. Half an hour later my tears came out in frustration and I had to go to the restrooms. My husband, who is usually very calm and collected went to talk again with the receptionist, at which point she got up and went to talk to someone inside. The woman that finally performed my ultrasound apologized but at almost two hours after the scheduled time nothing she could say could repair how bad I was feeling. I kept thinking that we were paying and there was no reason on earth such an expensive procedure like everything related to healthcare is, had to be so pitiful and humiliating. While I was having the ultrasounds, the supervisor came down to talk to my husband and when he expressed his discontent, she even asked if we would like her to call us later on to follow up. I’m still waiting for the call more than two months ago. Needless to say we got very late to work that day. To top it all off, two days ago we received a bill that we have to pay for the ultrasounds in the amount of $845 for such a dreadful experience. We called our insurance and yes, it seems we will have to pay it all. Thats the price hardworking people have to pay sometimes when they are in hands of careless people. DO NOT go to this place if you can choose another hospital or imaging center.

Overall, the staff was nice, but my main complaint is that I woke up from my procedure and I started sneezing. I sneezed four times in a roll. I then stated out loud that I had a cold. The nurse in room stated no, you dont. Waiting for my husband to arrive, I continued to sneeze and my nose was running. I didnt have a cold when I got there and I didnt have one when I was wheeled into the operating room. I believe this cold and I hope thats all it is, came from that air tube that one of those women put around my face and up my nose. I feel like this virus was deliberately given to me because she removed it soon after she had put it on. Next, my doctor didnt stop by and tell me how the procedure had went. With people being the way they are nowadays, I dont trust anyone to do the right thing. The devil in everywhere and I have had mean, unprofessional, hateful nurses at other places. BEWARE, they are out there.

I spent time at this hospital with a friend who had surgery. I was there several hours and helped my friend. As a nurse, my observations of the nursing care there was that is VERY poor. My friend asked for pain medication which was available according to the nurse. However, after an hour, I went out to ask the same nurse about the medication and she was performing a discharge INSTEAD OF GETTING A PATIENT PAIN MEDS. I never saw anyone ask my friend to use her incentive spirometer or ask to ambulate her. I NEVER SAW ONE PERSON WASH THEIR HANDS, but they used a lot of that hand sanitizer! My friend was on the 4th floor and they never offered to walk her, but they made her walk to her own car at discharge after abdominal surgery. I WILL NEVER BRING A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY TO THIS HOSPITAL. Dr. Suzette Scheuermann PHD RN

Brought my wife due to what I thought was gallbladder, been here 6 hours, dont know anything, wife tried to eat something, made her sick and brought back the pain, ask the nurse for something for her pain, gave her anti-inflammatory medicine. She is laying here in pain, crying, still no answer. Her cousin is bring her a pain pill so she can at least be comfortable. Unless you cannot crawl any farther than this place, go somewhere else, this place is a joke!!!! I guess they figure if your under 50, your just a junkie looking for a fix, mother in law told us to go Baptist....

Went with my daughter to the ER tonight. Not much of a wait at all. Got right into a room. The rooms are a little cramped for space, but they made up for it in speed and personality. The nurses and DR were great! The spent time making sure my daughter understood her condition and letting her ask all the questions she needed so she was clear. They were very thorough to make sure they had the correct diagnosis. All the nurses had a smile and treated my daughter with respect. This hospitals staff is a refreshing change from the hospitals my daughter has been to in the past!

My father was admitted to the emergency room for congestive heart failure and then sent to ICU. He was there 2 weeks and had the best possible care anyone could wish for. Nurse Tony took care of my father as he would his own father and we all actually teared up when it was time to say good bye. Our cardiologist Dr Ummat kept us informed every day of my fathers progress and what to expect. Communication is so important when you are worried about your loved one. I cannot not thank you the hospital and staff enough for your excellent care to my father! Happy New Year

Had to take my husband to the ER and we got in pretty quick due to his heart. Cant say much about the ER doctor though. I believe he sd he was the ER Director. Either way, all the doctors in the ER need to learn how to listen to the patient and loved one who brought them in. We know more about them then the doc. If hes uncertain of what we say, call the patients treating physician. Had I not been insistant on a some things, the cardiologist would have never been seen and the 75% blockage my husband has along w/an aortic anurysm would never have been found.
