Horrible, horrible, horrible. My grandmother went here following a fall and cardiac arrest from Community Hospital. She had recovered very well so far, and was doing so well when she was first moved to Kindred. After just a few days, you could see her health was declining. The first time I went to visit her she used the call button, and we waited. After five minutes, no one, after 10 minutes, no one, and finally fifteen minutes rolled around, and still NO ONE. If Im not mistaken these buttons are supposed to be taken with some urgency. My grandmother was on a puréed diet because of risks of aspiration. So, what would happen if she was aspirating and hit that button, fifteen minutes is a little late to arrive. So, I headed up to the nurses station, and guess what, all the nurses are standing around talking, laughing, etc while my grandmothers call light had been on for fifteen minutes. Well then her health declined more and she was moved up to the special care unit. She was still not getting better. My family and I had many discussions with the case manager, nurses, and doctors and got absolutely no where. Not to mention not a damn one of them sounded like they new what the hell they were talking about. This past week and a half she had very much declined, and we had told them we were going to be moving her because she wasnt making any progress, and the doctor insisted we give them a few more days to let the new medicine kick in. She was barely staying awake when I visited, wasnt eating anymore, wasnt barely drinking anymore. And every time I would come she would say "help me". I never once seem a reaction like this from her when she was at Community. My grandmother has just passed away this week, and although Im trying not to place blame, I find it hard not to place a pretty decent chunk of blame on this so-called "hospital". Please PLEASE take your family member some place else! Ive never seen one good thing come out of this place!!!!!!

This facility has NO communication with family nor with the primary physicians of their patients. They do not tell the truth when they give tours to prospective patients. We were lied to about how many Medicare Days our family member was allowed. We asked many questions up front so that we could assure that we were picking the right facility for our loved one. Had we been told the truth we would have know that THIS facility was not the right one. It has been our experience over the last 2 1/2 weeks that our family member has been at this facility that they have no sense of urgency for the patients. I have personally witnessed the length of time that it takes for the nurses or aids to attend to a call button or an IV alarm. The length of time that it takes the staff to respond to these are usually upwards of 30 minutes. Because they dont respond in a timely manner all sorts of things happen. They have doctors that are rude and condescending. One particular doctor told our family that our physician was 10 years behind the times. Our family member can speak, many of their patients cannot. Additionally we are present with our family member a majority of the time during the day. I truly would hate to see how they would "treat" a person who does not have a strong advocate for them. Please do not send your family member here. They do not give good care. And they do not care about their patients.

The nurses are great, the doctors will lie straight to your face. Two doctors who both call themselves kidney doctors trying to practice on a patient with lung, heart and kidney failure. Doing things Ive never seen any other doctor do in our long battle with these diseases ultimately causing death however the NURSES revived him. Then these two clowns (the doctors) still would not fix the issue (fluid retention causing lung and heart failure). After repeatedly trying to convince the family they were "working on it" while we were watching his condition worsen they did nothing about it. Had to have him moved while on a ventilator out of their care and into the care of doctors who when they first seen him said "ummm where did this man come from and shook their heads in disgust". NOT A RECOMENDED PLACE FROM OUR EXPERIENCE

I know from personal experience that the CEO, director or quality management and nursing staff, consider exceptional patient care, PRIORITY ONE! I was a recent patient at Methodist hospital. I can name about 4 things that made me really mad. After talking with the charge nurse, she promptly apologized and corrected the problems. There are issues everywhere. Some can be corrected and some cannot. Some people are sicker than others. Unfortunatly, not everyone recovers. Not everyone "REALLY" understands the process of healing a wound or getting someone off of a ventilator unless you do it on a daily basis. It might look easy, its not! The staff in this building work hard to heal everyone. THEY DO CARE!

Its nice to have access to doctors on almost a daily basis. The doctors and staff listen to what you have to say. This is the first time that I am getting proper and correct care in the last six months of being in and out of other rehab / nursing facilities. University Heights felt more like a studio apartment and while the nursing staff was decent and caring how ever very short staffed and there were too many patients to nurse ratio. But the doctors were almost invisible. Kindred is like a breath of fresh air and I am finally going in the right direction in my healing.

Worst place you can put a critically ill patient!!! They allow an incoherent patient to pull his trache COMPLETELY OUT because they are too stupid to put restraints on him, even after the family requests the restaints. He also pulled out the catheter, the IV and the feeding tube! You dont need a degree to know he needs to be restrained as long as he is incoherent!!! And after all of this, they are still refusing to restrain him!!! If you live your loved ones, DONT SEND THEM TO KENDRICK HISPITAL.

This place is horrible! They have treated my mother horribly the whole time she has been there. The nurses are far too busy to wash her hair or even clean her up when she has a fistula and her stomach acids are leaking out onto her skin. The nurses have treated me and other members of my family like we are stupid when we ask a question or say that my mother needs something. I would not suggest this facility to anyone, ever.
