I arrived on time was taken into an exam room right away, got basic info and x-rays done quickly then waited 30 minutes before the dentist "dropped in". And Im talking waiting 30 minutes with no one checking in or letting me know what was happening until the 27 minute mark and then it was only "The dentist will be in shortly". When the dentist did arrive he was humorless, barely apologetic and "dismissed" me in 7 minutes. I was looking for options and what they might be. I heard the x-ray assistant tell the dentist that but there was no discussion. He seemed annoyed that I had questions. I MIGHT have gotten a tiny smile out of him at one point but I cant really be sure. Then I got to wait again for 15 minutes before I got to talk to the office manager about next steps and cost. She was very personable and pleasant thank goodness. Apologized for the wait right away. The support staffers were nice and the facility is clean. The TV in the exam room is in interesting addition though way too close to actually watch and if you dont like whats on .. mind the big "DONT TOUCH THE TV CONTROLS" sign and dont change the channel. I had to ask the dentist to turn it off so yes I sat for 30 minutes with a program on that I did not want to watch with the TV way too close to my face. I will go back because it my best option for the oral surgery I require but, since the dentist (not the surgeon thankfully) was not interested in spending any real time with me to discuss what I wanted or what my options where, why couldnt he have spent 7 minutes with me at the 5 or 10 minute mark and been more contrite about having kept me waiting. Meh.. it is what it is. Be advised when they say New Patient appointments will take upwards from an hour and a half most of it will be wait time and not quality time with the dentist getting real advise.

Ive never written a review before but I am so annoyed at Aspen Dental that I thought I might save someone else the aggravation. I am in Valparaiso temporarily for work. I have my own dentist where I live. But I wound up with a broken permanent denture and I was looking for a dentist to see if it could be repaired because I wasnt going home until Thanksgiving. I called for an appointment on a Friday and after a lengthy interview I was given an appointment for Monday. The first red flag was the receptionist showing me a bill for $446 for upper and lower denture evaluation. I asked if someone would like to look at my mouth before handing me a bill and that indeed I had no upper denture issue. So I was taken to an exam room and I explained what I wanted to the tech. The dentist came in, looked in my mouth, and started telling me everything that needed to be done. He said he would need XRays so I had XRays taken. This rather young dentist who really needs to sharpen up his bedside manner, then goes after it again- everything that he needed to do. All I wanted was a temporary repair until I got home to my dentist. Possible?? Ill never know because I left saying I would have to think about it. As I stopped by the desk to see what the charges were, this sorry excuse for a dentist said to the woman behind the desk "Let her go. Shes not interested in dental care." He was right. I was certainly not interested in that kind of dental care. It seemed to me that all Aspen dental was interested in was how much money they could get from me. Never again. Its a big warehouse. You are better off with your local dentist.

I know Im a little late with my review but I.went in about a year ago to Aspen to get two wisdom teeth pulled. It was a decent experience at first. The assistant made sure I was comfortable after they numbed me and made small conversation even though I couldnt respond. But once the procedure began, it kind of went downhill. The dentist, whom Im not even positive is an oral surgeon, got mad at me for crying while he was prepping for the procedure. Now I have never had teeth pulled, I was very nervous and just needed a little professional reassurance that it wouldnt hurt and it would be quick. I kept myself as still as I could while in the chair, the dentist did not seem to think I was still enough. He told me he was going to stop if I didnt keep my head still. Mind you, I was getting two IMPACTED wisdom teeth pulled, so it took him quite a bit of yanking and jerking to get them out, so as for my movements, they were totally involuntary due to the dentist jerking my head around. I just cant believe I was told that my surgery would be put at a halt for his vigorous movements of my head and me not even being able to defend myself was rather upsetting to say the least. I paid out of pocket and did everything I was asked to do, the least he could have done was make it a comfortable experience for his patient as far as his attitude went, considering it wasnt going to be the most comfortable experience physically. Just had to put my story out there because I do need more work done, and I really would hope for a better experience next visit because this is the closest location to where I live and it was "somehwat" affordable.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! If I could give this practice less than a 1 star I would. I came in because Id broken a tooth from my top denture. They replaced the tooth (which I still had and had tried to replace myself), but in the process, somehow made my top plate not fit in my mouth properly. An hour and a half prior to them working on my denture, it fit fine. A hour and a half later, I couldnt keep it in my mouth and when I finally did manage it (with ALOT of sucking), it felt as though it was literally digging into my jawbone. But they said the bite was perfect and sent me on my way. For the next few days I was in constant pain, even to the point where my gum actually throbbed, it hurt so badly. The only thing that would give me a few moments of relief was massive amounts of Ora-jel. So I went back and told them about this. They checked my bite again and said it was just fine and they couldnt do anything about the pain that I was in, that theyd done nothing to make the upper denture not fit. This all started appx 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I called my old dentist - Dr. Brunski of Crown Point (who I thought had retired) and got an appointment. I told him my tale of woe and that Aspen Dental had said there was nothing they could do for it. Within no more than 1/2 an hour, he fixed the "unfixable" and said that my bite was totally off which was why I was in so much pain. And how about that, I walked out of the office with no more pain and am able to eat properly again. Save yourself ALOT of pain and money and dont go to Aspen Dental even in an emergency. Youll come out worse than when you went in.
