This was an absolutely the worst dental experience I have had. I read the reviews before and I went somewhere else previously, and I needed to go again and Aspen was the most convenient. So I scheduled and thought maybe the bad reviews went true. THEY WERE! I get there and the front desk lady was beyond rude and seemed like we were an inconvenience. So I go back to get my x-rays and the lady kept talking to other workers while I sat there with the mouth things that put in my mouth while she has a conversion about her New Years plans. Then, I head back to the room, and I was expecting a cleaning. Well the assistant said that the dentist would come in and look at my teeth. Okay, strange that he would see them before the cleaning, but sure. So he comes in and says that I have like 7 cavitys and will need a crown and root canel and a mouth guard. WHAT?? let me say, I have not had a cavity before, and then he says this. I thought, mmhmm, you are just looking for money. So he leaves and then the gum lady come in. Talks about my gums. Then She said the finance lady will talk to me next. (okay, just wanted to get my cleaning people) So I waited for 30 minutes in the room and finally I walked out of the room, and asked the front desk if I was done. The oh so friendly front desk person I talked about at the beginning of this review is back again and she was having a conversation that she was probable upset I had to interrupt, because she just walked over to me, and didnt say anything so I said, I was in the room for 30 mins and no one came, so wondering if I was done. So they said oh yes, the finance lady will be right in!! SERIOUSLY? so I went back to the room, then the finance lady came in after about another 5 mins of waiting and told me it will be $2000 total, and $800 up front. (mmm I dont think so..) so I said, I am assuming I am not getting a cleaning today correct, she said that is correct and I would have to schedule that again. I walked out of there and am telling everyone to not go there! Absolutely terrible service and they want to take your money!!

Had my initial appointment to have xrays and a consultation done for my wisdom teeth, no cleaning or anything. The front desk staff and xray tech were very nice and helpful. It took over 30 minutes for someone to get me to complete my xray then the dentist wasnt ready yet so I had to wait another 15 minutes in the lobby before getting back to see that actual dentist. The dentist looked at my teeth gave me a laundry list of things that need done and had me go back out into the waiting room so I could have a meeting with the office manager to discuss the cost of the procedures. My main concern is my wisdom teeth as they have become quite painful. The office manager gave me a quote with no information on it beside cost of procedure, how much insurance would pay and my out of pocket cost. The cost of procedure included all of the dentist list of work that needed to be done. I asked what the actual cost of just the wisdom teeth extraction would cost she said I would have to drive to Waterloo or Iowa City to actually have the procedure done and after insurance I would need to pay $1500 up front....for removal of 4 wisdom teeth!!! I emailed the office manager a few days later asking for a break down of the procedure so I knew what exactly I was paying $1500 out of pocket for as everyone I talked to who has the same insurance as me told me that was way high compared to what they paid and the office manager said give her until the end of business day the following day to ensure all the information was correct, two days later no response. I kindly emailed her back asking if she had a chance to review the information yet and still a month later have not received a response. Very disappointing.

Hi wow, my name is Jessica Driscoll, I am a real person & I am NOT a employee of Aspen Dental. Im genuinly SHOCKED with these negative comments about Aspen Dental for REAL!!! I dont recall being told a "scare speech" I only recall being told the TRUTH about the condition of my teeth. We opted to go for full dentures. It was an emotional time for me, and the staff could tell & was so emotionally supportive with me. I was offered financing because otherwise I could not afford treatment & NOTHING IS FREE in this world!!! They were nothing but willing to work with me from day one!!!!! The doctor who I call "doc" I cant pronounce his name, is the only dentist that I have EVER felt comfortable with! He is HONEST about the condition about your teeth b/c he cares. I was made a high quality denture & the dentist made me take a good hard look in the mirror before I left to make sure I loved how I looked. What impressed me the most was how personable the dental staff was. In fact, one of the assistants had noticed I had an engagment ring on my finger & she was in tears when I got fitted with my permanents b/c "I was now officially ready to walk down the aisle" that meant a lot to me. again, Im just shocked with these comments, wow. A+ in my book, they have done NOTHING NOTHING NOTHIN but work with me & help me achieve the smile of my dreams!!!! I would recommend them to anybody who wants a caring staff & good quality work!!!!

I went to Aspen Dental because they were only one of two dentists in Cedar Rapids who took my insurance. I have never had ANY dental problems...not even a cavity. I just wanted a routine cleaning/exam but they make you go there for a "free consultation" first. I had to wait 30 minutes to be seen even though no one was in the waiting room. Then they took a panoramic xray (which I have only had for braces) and 30 xrays. Almost one per tooth. I then saw the dentist who ran through an entire list of things I needed including a $450 mouth guard for teeth grinding (which I have never been told I did) and a filling for a cavity (I am curious to how I have gone 30 years without a cavity and now I have one). My grand total came to about $2000. I then met with an office manager who went over a "payment plan" for all of this. I never went back and went to see a dentist at U Iowa. He told me he saw no evidence of a cavity and no evidence of teeth grinding. Do Apsen Dentals dentists work on commission? These people are salesmen not healthcare providers. Practices like this should be banned.

Nice facility (seriously one of the nicest Ive been to) and everyone in the office was polite. Short story is I have no bleeding gums, soreness or any issues whatsoever. I just need a cleaning is all. At the end of my first exam Im brought to the "financing office" where the first thing Im told is no joke: "Mr.Rosenberg, you have OUTSTANDING dental insurance! " then Im offered an application to finance the remaining $3,000 for Invisalign braces.. (didnt want those) I explained I just wanted me teeth cleaned... "oh were past that.. you have a bacterial infection blah blah.. " the Dentist told me Im already past gingivitis and Im at risk of losing my teeth.. The whole thing just seemed like a scam. This is a dentist I guess... but its also a business. This place is trying to scare people with good insurance into getting extra services they dont need. Who do you think is paying for the nice office and equipment? Im off to get a second opionion because I really doubt my teeth are as bad as they say.
