SHORT VERSION: 6 month old daughter cut her foot and had lost a lot of blood. I called to ask for help and whether or not I should take her to the hospital. They told me she wasnt a patient and they couldnt help. I had to talk them into telling me which hospital was the closest (we are new to the area). Come to find out I am a patient there and my name is in their system. If they arent going to help you when you need them the most, then why would you choose them as your family Dr.? I would never use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone. FULL REVIEW: This family Dr. was recommended from our pediatrician. I had gone in for a few appointments and Dr. Hempy herself is great! The problem I have here is that our 6 month old daughter cut her foot and the bleeding wouldnt stop. My wife called me at work and I immediately left to come home and try to help. On my way home I couldnt remember who our family Dr. was (we are new to the area) so I tried calling North Liberty Family Health Centre thinking this was where I had already gone for some of my own appointments. The first problem was that when I called they asked if I was a patient there. I explained that my daughter was home and has been bleeding for about 10-15 minutes. I told her I just wanted to know if we should bring her in or take her to a hospital. She asked me to spell and respell my name and nothing came up. She then said, "I apologize sir, but you are not a member here. You will have to come in and register for us to help you out." I then said, "Well maybe she is in the records". They checked and said, "We dont see her in our files." I told the receptionist that I needed to talk to a nurse, that our daughter had lost a lot of blood already and we were just wanting to know what we should do. After being placed on hold a nurse answered the phone. I went through the same process with the nurse and she said, "Unfortunately since you arent a client here I cant help you." I laughed and said, "My daughter has lost a lot of blood, can you at least tell me where the nearest hospital is?" We live in North Liberty and didnt know if we should go to Cedar Rapids or Iowa City. She told me to wait a minute and placed me on hold. Im curious, why do I need to be a patient for you to help me with an obvious bad situation? She got back on the phone and said very rudely that Im supposed to be a patient to get help, but that the closest hospital would be the one in Iowa City and hung up on me. This entire process took about 10 minutes while I was driving home from work. I would assume that people in the health profession go into the profession to not only make money but to also help people. It seemed to me that there was no interest in helping a young family out with an emergency. We took our daughter to the hospital. There was blood all over. The Dr. told us that the cut was the perfect level with the capillaries that the bleeding doesnt really clot. The placed a sponge on her toe where the cut was and it finally stopped the bleeding. The irony of the story is that when I called back the next day, I told them about the story and told them that I was a patient there. They confirmed and I told them I would be looking for a new family Dr.

I have been a patient at the North Liberty Family Health Centre for about 6 months. Recently I had been feeling under the weather for a while, the fatigue and feeling all over terrible finally caught up with me. Therefore, I called the clinic to see if I could be seen at the office. I spoke with a nurse who took my symptoms. The nurse said she would see if she could get me seen that day. An hour later I received a call directly from one of the Doctors at the Clinic who wanted to follow up with a few more questions. After our chatted she asked if I was free in 45 minutes to get seen in the office. I said yes, and proceeded to the office for a check-up! I was in and out in a timely manner. While it is never great feeling sick, it is nice having a clinic who will take the time to see you with a last-minute notice. I have to say the negative reviews do not make sense to me because every experience I have had with North Liberty Family Health Centre has been great.

Worst customer service ever! Took the morning work off to get an annual exam. Showed up 5 minutes late because they had moved and they turned me away. Well be looking a another physician!!!

I have been a patient for more than 15 years. Dr. Cheryl Johnson has delievered both my daughters and has always been tremendous! Highly recommend!

The care has been great! Everyone was so nice. It was great that they actually took time to explain the care I was given until I understood it.

I love this clinic. The staff is courteous and helpful. My Dr. is wonderful. Parking is great!
