We had two experiences with this emergency room. Once for myself with what turned out to be peritonitis. After spending a few hours there in the worst pain Ive ever experienced I was told to take a pain killer and go home. I had to beg for something harder and the doctor finally agreed to prescribe a couple of days worth of something. Days later my dialysis nurse had me admitted and I spent the next month in the hospital and an additional 4 months at home recovering. Fast forward just over 2 years. The second time was with my toddler. She complained of pain in the ear. We wanted to get her someplace fast and this is the closest emergency room. We debated about going to the downtown campus. Theyre busier but they seem to take complaints a bit more serious, especially when it comes to children. We should have spent the extra 10 minutes and headed to the downtown location. We found no other patients in the waiting room and the initial nurse saw us very quickly. Fast forward 30-45 minutes for a PA to come in. Ask a few questions. Look in the toddlers ear and leave. We were also told that they would give the toddler ibuprofen for the pain before we left. The nurse comes in. Draws up the medicine in a syringe and administers it. The goes over the discharge information. I ask if we should be giving ibuprofen for any pain complaints instead of Tylenol. The nurse says that both are fine and she just gave her Tylenol... Um, we mentioned several times that we gave her Tylenol 4 hours earlier. I also brought up that the PA said that she was going to give her ibuprofen. I ask how much she was given and was told 250ml. The wife was not happy about that. I wasnt happy either but my disatisfaction was eclipsed by how the wife was feeling. The largest complaint that the wife had was when she was attempting to tell the PA what antibiotics did and did not seem to be effective with the toddler. As the wife was trying to explain the medications the PA just simply had no idea of what they were. I did pull up the medication history for the toddler and we were able to verify that the wife was on the right track. But the wife was a bit confused that the PA would have no knowledge of medications as common as antibiotics. Personally, I dont know if this is something a PA would have knowledge of or not. Im afraid that this will be the last trip we take here if its an emergency. I have to wonder if experiences like this is the reason why the emergency waiting room is so empty. I should also add. total time there. About 3 hours for, what we hope was correctly diagnosed as, an ear infection. With nobody else in the waiting room.

My sister has COPD, as well as many heart problems, so she is a hard case...however...that should not affect what I would consider "the basics" of handling a patient in need of care. 1. If she was not so aware of what medications can and cannot be mixed with medications she is already taking, she would be dead. They have no clue what they are doing when administering meds, as noted by previous reviewers. 2. They will fight you to the death, not wanting to call in the patients specialist/physician for consult, until you force the issue, numerous times! 3. If you are lucky enough to make it out of the emergency room and are admitted, the floor nurses and pharmacy take forever to get your meds, and the correct meds to you ontime. There is very little, if any, sense of urgency on this subject. 4. You have to constantly repeat to the same person (ER Doctor), what meds she takes. He kept saying "okay, so she is on Sodalol, right? And, we continually had to tell him "NO, she is not, she cant take that". After about 7-8 times of telling him that in an hours time, I finally asked him to please write it down, because he kept getting that confused. 5. The overall sense of urgency at this hospital is very low. Do not go here for critical care. My sister insists on going here because it is the closest hospital to where she lives. Another 10 minutes, and she has a choice of 3 different hospitals to choose from where she will get better care every time. Most important thing to take away from this book I have written...be careful of medication dispensing here. Ask what it is before given to you and know what they are giving to you. Ask many questions and dont be afraid to say "wait a minute" before they give you a medication. My sister is now spending 6 plus days in the hospital because they gave her the wrong heart medication and it messed with her lung condition.

Went in because of severe allergic reactions to a medication someone there had prescribed for a tendon strain. Burning tongue and throat, chest tightness. Difficulty breathing, etc. Which were all listed as severe allergic symptoms and to stop taking immediately. While they asked my symptoms they physically left the room before giving me a chance to finish talking. The nurse partitioner said it a symptom of one of my psychological disorders yet I made it very clear they had only started shortly after taking the medicine and that my disorders were very clearly unrelated. They gave me an iv and injected with stuff they would not tell me what it was no matter how many times I asked and mouth stuff for the pain. I told the nurse the stuff was making me feel worse and the stuff didnt numb the pain. Her response was well we are not classifying this as an allergic reaction and youre fine to go. They then gave me a list of psychiatrists to see and I asked why and they said to help with the symptoms of the disorder and I had to again repeat that it was a reaction I had never had before to a medication I had never had before and my disorder was diagnosed only to cause memory issues and stomach pain which I already acknowledged I had meds for and they were not needed during this time. Awful experience and terrible professionals. Misdiagnosed and lack of listening or consideration for anything I said. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS MEDICAL ADVICE OR TREATMENT

i will continue to rate this place one star untill the woman who yanked my autistic son around like a rag doll because he ran away from her and verbally abused us as well is fired. I hope she is reading this and realizes its not a okay to abuse children or be super unprofessional and rude for no reason. I hope she gets caught doing it again by another parent and goes to jail because im sure this isnt the first time she abused a child. nurse here abused my autistic child and threw a massive fit because he wouldnt do exactly what she said when she commanded him very rudely. Most people speak to their dogs better than the way this woman spoke to us and we were very kind. his arm was swollen and red after we left and he said it was still hurting. Yanking a toddler or baby that way can very easily pop their arm out of their socket. Syko child abuser needs fired asap she is a older white woman and i will be posting her picture and my story everywhere til she is fired or charged i do not know her name but will find out soon please make sure she reads this and know the laws coming for her syko evil ass.
