I ordered the Organic Acids Test for my son. The problem is doctors dont know what to do with the findings. Great Plains Labs was of no assistance in recommending practitioners who value and understand their tests. At the end of the day, they are providing expensive tests for which insurance companies dont reimburse and nobody knows what the f... to do with. At a minimum they recommended a lot of useless supplements, and of course they referred me to one of their favorite providers. Unless you can find a physician who can utilize the test results, its like having a degree that is worthless. This is another company selling complimentary tests that are practically useless. One thing I have learned about the alternative medicine community is that it too often markets and sells products and services for which there is no scientific evidence. While they are willing to invest in the manufacturing and promotion of these things they will not work with universities to have their products/services independently tested. For those of us, and there are millions, who are looking for alternatives to drugs and invasive therapies, we are suckers for alternative medicine, but we deserve more than useless and expensive tests, supplements, and unproven protocols that are often being sold by individuals who are not medical doctors or scientists.

I called their customer service number because I was trying to get help finding a physician in my area and I spoke with a very nasty woman on the phone. She acted like she was so exasperated when I called and repeatedly asked me, "So what do you want?" She told me that she didnt understand what I wanted, despite me making it perfectly clear several times that I was trying to find a physician in my area. I asked her if she could look up physicians in my area and she did so, but was extremely nasty about it. She could find no physicians in my area and told me with an attitude, "There are none here [in my area]." Finally, I just sighed and said, "Fine." and hung up on her. I emailed Great Plains later on to complain about her and never received a response from them. In a way, my experience with this woman was a blessing in disguise because I ended up not having to waste any extra money or time on testing with this company. My experience with this woman was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I am not "confused", as another user mentioned, about how I was treated on the phone. I would never recommend this company to anyone who is looking for alternative medical help after the way I was treated.

Great Plains Laboratory offers functional health testing that provides extremely valuable information. These tests are different from what you get at a doctors office, since they are not tests to diagnose a disease that requires a drug or surgery. This is probably why some of the other comments here on Google Reviews seem negative or confused - it is important to understand why these tests are valuable and best interpreted by a functional doctor, Naturopathic doctor or nutritionist. I am compelled to write a review having read these other confused reviews. I have a clinician account with this lab and help my clients find problems with bacterial imbalance, yeast overgrowth, heavy metal and environmental toxicity, food allergies and sensitivities, and more. Customer service is excellent!

Great Plains Labs offers excellent test. The OAT (Organic Acid) is my favorite to start with patients. In order to interpret the results, you will need a practitioner that is well versed in biochemical pathways and functional medicine. With a good medical history and these tests, I can assist patients recovery from otherwise unresolvable issues. It takes you beyond a the traditional medical practice - and needs a practitioner that will dig into your history and take the time. I love helping people feel better and they are amazed at the results. Thank you, Great Plains Lab, for your dedication and honesty.

So I got tested by Great Plains through my doctor. They do a good job. 11/2 years later I needed to see my results again.. for a new doctor. I tried to access my files and they were "purged from their system". After contacting them, they wanted $25 per test result. I had 18 done at a cost of almost $500. You do the math. 18X25= $450! AS MUCH AS MY ORIGINAL TESTS!!! Watch out for this scheme and require them to "send your results by mail".

I got my results from my physician but he didnt advise me on the results. Theres a phone number to call for a consultation which is great but Ive scheduled a consultation twice and I havent received one. I got two additional bills but havent received the full service promised to me. I have been waiting for someone to get back to me since February! Its July now and Im still waiting...

Their website said theyd take our insurance for the "out of network" price. But they didnt, and wouldnt work with us to pay the cash price for the out of network service. They wanted us to pay the full price despite telling us originally that we wouldnt have to pay the full price. Watch out for their schemes to get as much money out of you as possible.
