Continuously poor service. Some of the people who work here are kind, and try their best...but I continue to leave the vet at Great Plains SPCA with disappointment every time. I came to Great Plains today after receiving a recommendation from Rockhill when I was unable to afford their higher prices. So I show up right at 7:20, wait for the doors to open, walk in...and the moment I arrive at the desk and say "my puppy has diarrhea and is vomiting," she promptly and rudely says "we dont have any available appointments today." Either shes never worked in customer service, or Great Plains doesnt care to employ polite people to work the front desk. Ive been to this clinic before with my dog Bear (formerly Turtle, because surprise surprise, I adopted him from Great Plains back in October) and they had no problem when I didnt have an appointment; I just waited all of 20 minutes before being seen. But I show up first thing in the morning to this kind of greeting, after my puppy hasnt been able to keep food or water down for 24 HOURS, and I just lost it. I started crying, because no one had been willing to work with me and help my puppy get better, as she was visibly worsening as the MINUTES rolled by. Finally, this stupid girl working the desk says "well I will take her back to see if her vitals are steady enough for transport." So they ended up taking my puppy (Fallon) back to be seen, and sure enough, she was put on an IV and tested for parvo, because, what do you know, they had time/availability. I am appalled that this girl has a job when she thinks so lowly of it (or me? not sure what I would do to warrant her treatment but okay). Im pretty sure it was the same girl that, on my last visit with Bear, demanded I pay another dollar or so remaining after my card covered almost all of a close-to-$100 bill. For some reason, my card was approved, but failed to cover the last dollar and change remaining (dont know how that works, as I thought cards would be declined if they couldnt cover the full balance, but thats what happened). When I said I dont carry cash and couldnt pay the remainder, she just gave me this blank, bitchy look. She actually made me go out to my car, rummage around for change (which still came up short), all before she told me I would literally have an account open with the remaining 45 cents or whatever due next time I came in. Literally, this girl wouldnt forgive 45 cents. Yeah, either this girl is rude to people unbeknownst to Great Plains, or they dont care at all who they choose to be the face of their vet office.

I adopted a puppy back on September first I was happy with the facility and how the pets were kept. The thing I was unhappy with is that he wasnt neutered yet so that was a surprise and an inconvenience and somehow when they put the Ecollar on his third eyelid was lacerated (not sure how else that could have happened) which I had to take him to the vet for, he had tapeworms which they gave me medicine for, and I noticed before I took him home he had scabs all over when I mentioned this I was told it was probably due to fleas well.... his skin just kept getting worse and now it appears he has demodex again another vet visit. This skin issue should have been noticed before he was adopted out, the neuter should have been done before he was adopted out and when I see tapeworm segments in his stool on his first bowel movement that should have been noticed too.... just not to thrilled with the vet care he got before I adopted him and really wish I could have had him neutered somewhere else since they didnt do it cause I hate the tattoo.... just wanted to give some honest feedback just incase anyone wants to listen

WOULD RANK LOWER IF I COULD Place is a total joke. My best friend and I just went in to adopt a mature very friendly cat. However another lady wanted him but said she had her eye on another so to go ahead and take him. The old lady volunteer that followed us around was very rude and suggested against since we had a small Pom puppy at home However admitted knew nothing of this cats background. And when I said even then I would like to give it a try since my puppy is well trained and keeps to herself. This old lady refused to allow us to adopt and got her manager when we became upset. The lady ORIGINALLY interest jumped in claiming she had told the old volunteer she had a 7 month old German Sheppard and she hadnt given her nearly as much attitude.. Never coming here again. Trying to do a good thing for an abandoned animal however because of the terrible people working there we were told we wouldnt be able to adopt any cats due to them not allowing us to adopt

Havent experienced their adoption center but their vet care is very disappointing. Took our chihuahua in for a dental consultation and he returned with Kennel Cough. When we attempted (they would not answer or return calls within 24 hours) to contact the vet care center they informed us it was not their fault, that is had to be something at our home. They then followed up the "blaming" with a comment regarding our intelligence. All we wanted to ensure was that after the surgery, that we put down half payment for, they would return our dog in a healthy state. With the lack of response, we also wanted to be sure we could get a hold of someone once our dog was admitted into surgery. Unfortunately, we will no longer be participating in any Great Plains SPCA pet services. Although they may have money saving specials on their rates, its not worth it in the long run.

Originally I gave this place five stars and my reasoning is still below. I am now changing my review to one. I recently called in for concerns. The tech I spoke with said there was no appointments available for over a month. Over a month?! She followed up with stating that there is another vet starting soon. If you are that busy obviously there is room for expansion. Who are the decision makers and why are there no appointments for over a month?! Veterinary care is sometimes for the best parts of our family and lives. Unlike other vets that I and my best have visited, Great Plains are much more fairly priced. They provide the same care as the others for less money. To me that says more about a business. As long as they stay this way, they will have a customer for life.

I really enjoy the graciousness of the staff here, from the docs & techs, to reception & billing. Dr Little & tech, Brittany, are the best. Ive had a tough couple months with my furr babies, & they have both been available & beside me with difficult conversations & end of life decisions. The compassion of this facility shows in their actions, beyond what words can say. The pricing has been reasonable for the services Ive utilized, consult, x-rays, meds, labs, euthanasia. The spay & neuter pricing is a bit high compared to other Animal Hospitals in the area, but if want to keep all your services under one roof, your furr babies will receive excellent care here.
