Looks like Im not the first person to have a puppy die after trying desperately to get some care from Rockhill. I took my puppy in to Rockhill yesterday because shed been having diarrhea for at least four days, but finally lost her appetite and was throwing up clear liquid when I took her out of her kennel yesterday morning. As someone who only makes enough money to get by, I dont take my animals to the vet unless Im sure something is wrong, and since I only got the puppy last week I thought it might be the transition to a new house/food/etc. that might have caused her loose stools. The vomiting and loss of appetite made it clear she needed attention, however, as she was all of a sudden lethargic and wanted nothing to do but sleep. I take her to Rockhill and get her examined by a nurse/doctor/etc. They take her temperature and say "okay well we dont know whats wrong with her but heres all the tests we can do to see what might be going on." They handed me a gargantuan list of tests, with none of them being more "likely" or "comprehensive," which left me with basically $700 worth of tests that were all recommended in order to find out what was wrong with her. I simply didnt have the money (I only had $150 in my bank account yesterday) and had come to their clinic after reading very positive reviews and hearing they were affordable. They recommended the Care Credit that I always hear so much about every single time I go to a vet office, but all the times I have applied for it, Ive never been approved. ISNT VETS/CREDIT/ETC. SUPPOSED TO HELP PEOPLE GET THE CARE THEY NEED WHEN THEY CANT AFFORD IT. NOT SLAM THEIR DOORS IN YOUR FACE? So instead of doing anything to help me, they took her temperature, gave me absolutely no information at all, and charged me $50. Guess what? Today, my puppy died because of parvo. Thanks a lot, Rockhill. You should be ashamed at your business practices. Letting someone go...no, its not even about me, but letting a SICK and DYING ANIMAL go because you cant get your money is absolutely SHAMEFUL. I will tell everyone I know to avoid you like the plague. Any medical office that operates like this should be shut down. $50 to be told they cant do anything...disgusting.

My family has been taking our cats to rockhill for year and years. They have always treated our animals like family. When our cat was suffering, and I struggled with making his end of life decisions, they were kind and worked with me until I was ready. Two staff members came to my house for the procedure so that my senior cat did not have to be stressed by going to the vets office. They talked to Sherlock and reassured him. It was so comforting to see how much they cared about my cat, when they see so many and have to help with hard decisions so often. I didnt feel at all like they were rushing to get away to the next thing or worrying about the next task. They took the time to come to my house and to truly be present with my cat and I through a painful moment. They even cried with me. A couple years later, a male barn cat at my work was suffering from UTIs and urethral blockage. The first time I took him to his usual vet, who prescribed us some pills and sent us on our merry way, but the problem kept coming back and I didnt like the way his vet treated him like just a barn cat. So I brought him to Rockhill and explained the situation. That he isnt my cat; the owner would rather euthanize than deal with his vet expenses; lives outside. They treated him like a valued family member and helped me get his UTI problems under control. Knowing that he wasnt my cat yet, they worked with me financially so that I could afford to get him the care he needed. Because of Rockhill, hes alive, happy and has been adopted my family. Hes feeling extremely grateful to be an indoor cat now after his near death experience. I cant speak highly enough of Dr. Stewart and Dr. V., Allison, Debbie and the rest of the staff. Their personal connections to the patients, their respect and care is not at all a facade. They work extremely hard every day to make sure the patients and the owners feel cared for. Its clear that theyre in this profession because they love animals, but the patience I have seen the staff members exhibit is really what makes this team so special. For as long as my family has cats, well be taking them to Rockhill.

My wife Jan and I have been taking our little dog, Bimmer, to Rockhill Pet Clinic since he was a small puppy. They have been the most caring, loving and knowledgeable vet clinic we have ever used. Bimmer was attacked in our yard by a large dog and when I called the clinic at closing time, they said to bring him right in. When we arrived all the staff was still waiting for us as Bimmer is a pretty special guy to those that work there and they chose to stay. He was in very bad shape and they arranged for us to take him to an ICU unit in Overland Park. They were waiting for us at the door and took him right in. We were told it did not look good but Im happy to say our little guy is a fighter and after many prayers went up he is still with us today. We also had a black lab, Jake, who was also cared for by Dr. Stewart during his last days with us and although it was a very difficult time for us, the staff was so understanding and comforting it made the loss easier to accept just knowing we had made the right decision for Jake. We then found a little stray dog and took her into Rockhill to be adopted. Dr. Stewart gave her all her shots and checked her out. We found that she had heartworms and knew no one would adopt her so we decided to have Rockhill proceed with the treatment. Today, Libby is still with us, free of heartworms and a pal to Bimmer. Thanks Rockhill Pet Clinic for the loving care you have given not only to our pets but to us. The doctors, staff and care received are exceptional. One more reason, that although we now live in another city, we still take Bimmer and Libby to KC for boarding and all medical care. We know they are always in good hands.

Had a new born rent pup, just a few days old, that wasnt doing well. This is my first experience with puppies. I called the clinic looking for some advice during my hysteria, to save my baby. They made an appointment, and said they would call me back after she had spoken with a manager about finances. I had moved 2 days before the pups were born and exhausted every last dime and resource I had. I get to my appointment, with my puppy in a warm sock, clinging onto life. A different lady approaches after I begged for someone to help me. Bawing my eyes out, trying to save this defenseless little baby, she hands me a sheet of paper with other clinics (not anywhere near my area) and turns me away. Someone could have even billed me. I just didnt have the cash upfront. I was desperate and used up the rest of my gas just to get to the appointment. I have never in my life been so disgusted with humanity and felt so alone in a situation I knew little of. I will NEVER let them see any of my animals. They showed how much they cared about pets in general when they let me cry in the lobby, begging for help, and did nothing. My baby passed about 12 hours after our "appointment", if thats what you would even call it.
