DONT TAKE ANY ANIMALS HERE! The prices are cheaper for a reason; you will end up paying more to fix the damage Heye did or end up with a dead pet, or both! All the people who left good reviews got lucky. I took my then 4 yr old cat who had always had perfect health there to be neutered 1 yr ago. W/in days of him being home it was obvious something was wrong. I called and he told me it was probably a UTI since cats often develop UTIs after a neutering and to call back in a few days if he hadnt improved. My cat who was never very vocal was screaming in pain. Ive since found out that most vets now give you the option to buy pain pills after fixing your pets, but I wasnt given that option. He sprayed the wall, but instead of spray, blood w/ chunks of hard pus came out. I brought him in, he felt his stomach, said he couldnt feel his bladder so he wasnt worried. I called again to tell them he had trouble walking & couldnt lift his legs high enough to get into the litter box. It wasnt until 10 days after surgery when he couldnt walk @all, just laid there panting & screaming that he took me seriously enough to agree to see him again. When I arrived he was yelling @the office girl in a very degrading way, I have since seen her working @ a different vet; I suppose she quit. He grabbed my cat & took him to an exam rm w/o me. He came back about 60 seconds later & said he didnt see anything wrong around the surgery area. That night a huge abscess burst leaving a puddle about the size of 2 pillows of pus w/ streaks of blood. I called but it was after hours & there was a number on the recording to an animal hospital that wanted $200 to see him, plus they estimated between $600-$800 more @ the least to treat him that I had to have that night. They rudely asked me if I could borrow a credit card from someone. So I had to wait for the vet to open. I rushed him there in the morning & he cleaned the abscess out & gave me a spray to use 3 times a day. The hole in his groin was big enough for a golf ball. Months after he healed he developed problems urinating. This has been an ongoing problem since then. Ive been told that damage to the urethra can cause cystitis & simular problems. Right now he is at a different vet fighting for his life. *UPDATE: He died the night after I wrote this* They also blinded my co-workers dog giving him a flea dip, & has since killed my friends dog with an infection that occurred from a grooming accident there. I would like to note that there used to be a female vet, Himes, that worked there who was great. I heard she was his daughter and that she quit to go work at a mobile vet, probably because she didnt want to be associated with him. There is a new female vet working with him; if you have to go there make sure you see her. I have since found out he has an awful reputation. Ive been to most of the vets in Oldham county; if you are working on a budget I strongly recommend Countryside. They have a stellar reputation. Ive always known that, yet avoided them because they also have a reputation for being expensive. But after my recent experiences with my cats urinary blockage I can honestly say they were the most affordable, the most compassionate & reasonable, & willing to work w/ what you have. The vet at countryside will not charge you more than he has to, or do more than whats necessary, unlike everywhere else around here that just wants to bleed you dry with no regard to your pets safety. He is straightforward & brisk, no b.s. or sugarcoating. By far the best vet around! Go to Countryside and save money and heartbreak! P.S. Having a pet fixed is normally a safe, responsible act. But if I hadnt had him neutered there he would still be alive. I had a gut instinct that day not to take him there, but I ignored it because I let a relative bully me into it due to his cheap prices. I have to live w/ that remorse. Dont make the same mistake I did. I spent just under $1000 trying to keep him alive compared to the $20 more it wouldve cost to have him neutered elsewhere.

Took my dog there after acting very strange, vomiting, whimpering unable to keep her balance and not being herself, brought her in and they said best case scenario dehydration worst poisoning. Said they would like to monitor her overnight. Called later that day and said shes still lethargic and hasnt used the bathroom at all and they Dont know whats wrong. Called the next day and they said to come pick her up that she was still acting the same. Asked If they did ant blood work since that would tell us if she was dehydrated or poisened but they did NOTHING, literally nothing besides put her in a cage all night. Also told us shes probably backed up in her intestines and Dont feed her because she may vomit due to antinausea meds and give very little water, that they hadnt gave her any!! Also said she still never went to the bathroom and said the only thing I needed to do was call them when she had a BM to tell them what it looked like. I was in shock, then when they brought her out to me from the back she had vomit all over her neck , they didnt even have the decency to wipe her off!. Charged me 100$ for nothing. Brought her home gave her small amt food and water because I know she will get dehydrated if she takes in NOTHING. Its been 24hr since shes been home and still hasnt improved, taking her to Country side Vet in Lagrange tomorrow. The vet said this is no surprise with LAH and that it sounds like poisoning but that they will run labs and blood work on her and even offered to come in for an emergency if it got worse. I will never even consider taking another animal to that hell hole who just want to do the least for the most money. I will be sure to tell anyone who asks my issues. And on a side note not to mention about 9 years ago we took our dog there to get teeth pulled, took him home and we never saw him again, he went off to die I suppose, he was an older dog. Called Dr Heye to tell him what happened and ask if there were any complications with surgery and he would never return any of our phone calls....now I wonder what really happened that day in hindsight. :(

I have over the past 12 years taken all of our dogs for veterinary care and boarding to LaGrange Animal Hospital. Dr Heye and Dr Hines, as well as their staff, have provided wonderful care and I have recommended them to friends and neighbors who now use them as well. Their references for specialists outside of their facility has been excellent when dealing with our older dogs, and they have been exceptionally considerate when we have had to lost or had to make decisions with older pets. We have taken 6 different dogs to them over the years. While not a pet resort type facility, I have always felt more confident boarding my larger dogs at the vet. Whether I have been gone a weekend or 10 days, I know that my dogs will be well cared for and safe. As for the review suggesting that her dog was not cleaned at the facility, our pets have always been cleaned up before they were brought out to us. When we had longer haired pets, we did arrange for a groomer to come in the day before we returned as they are certain to get somewhat messy when contained, especially when boarded for over a week. La Grange Animal Hospital is not a fancy facility as far as decor, but then they are not pricy either. I would rather their focus be on care of my pet, rather than all the bling (aka cost) of a pet resort type facility. Dr Heye has a sensible, logical approach about him; some people require more attention and may be better suited with a fussier vet. I however will continue to use LaGrange Animal Hospital and continue recommending it to everyone I know. - T Miller
