My experience at the Kindred was surprisingly wonderful despite the reason I needed their assistance. The hospital has the most helpful and friendly personnel that I have encountered in a number of years. The kitchen staff was a bit off course but Im sure they tried their best, at times. The first few days were a little rocky as far as eating is concerned but it worked out for the best. I appreciate every single person who worked with me to meet my health care goals. All the nurses and CNAs on the 5th floor seemed really genuine and listened very attentively, to my moaning and complaining lol. It takes team work like they expressed to make goals happen and happen smoothly. So again thanks to all departments of the Kindred from housekeeping to food and nutrition, RN, CNA, LPN, the senior nursing staff, and the entire 5th floor staff, and I really appreciate you all for putting up with me during my good days and bad ones. Best wishes to everyone in their future endeavors, be blessed and I hope not to see any of you anytime soon. XOXO smooches

I had a relative at Kindred in Louisville last month and one evening a patient advocate invited me to share my feelings about the care at the hospital. Sorry it took so long to get to doing this. Due to work, I couldn’t be there 24 hours a day, but the care I saw was great. In the evenings and on weekends when I was there, the hospital was quiet and staff paid attention to our mom’s medical needs. The biggest issue I had while there was two TV remotes that didn’t work – no big deal and of course that did not affect Mom’s care in any way. What DID affect her good results was the care and skill they showed at helping her get better. In a short time she was off the vent and getting stronger. Eventually she was able to be transferred to a nursing home. While it’s tough to be the family of someone who is critically ill, it helps to know there are people like you dedicated to helping them get better. It can’t be an easy job. I couldn’t do it for a day. Thanks to all of you for the care you provide and the careers you chose.

My husband was recently a patient at Kindred Hospital, Louisville, Ky. He was discharged from an acute care hospital to Kindred to receive further IV antibiotic therapy, physical therapy, and wound care. We were there for 11 days, received 10 minutes of physical therapy total; I (his wife) had to instruct and demonstrate each and every dressing change for his wound, and due to not being provided physical therapy, or even the opportunity to get up to a chair, my husband ended up with his lungs full of fluid. After requesting to be discharged for four days and then informing the staff that we would leave AMA, we were thankfully returned to an acute care hospital where we had to be put in ICU for 5 days. This facility is advertised as a long term acute care facility. It is nothing more than a poorly operated skilled care nursing home. I would never take any of my family or anyone that I care about to this hospital.

The nurses, aides and respiratory therapist here are awesome and really good at what they do. Last weekend, the cafeteria was closed and I wasnt able to leave the hospital. The sweetest nurse went down the street to buy me a pizza when her shift was over. She wouldnt even let me pay her back and told me to "pay it forward." Theyve all been so kind to me and my husband but that really stood out to me because who else would do that? My husband has been on three floors here and we are happiest on the 6th floor. Its brighter than the other floors and seems more relaxed. The only complaint Ive had was about my husbands tongue being swollen but the respiratory therapist showed me how to clean and moisturize his mouth which made the swelling go down. I thank everyone for taking such great care of my husband and for treating me so kindly.

Im going to try submitting this review for the third and final time. Google+ keeps throwing me out. Heres an opinion from someone whos been in the bed 24/7 - not a visitor. I was very sick when admitted - I feel everyone did an excellent job in my treatment. I have never been this ill before, nor have I ever spent this much time in the hospital before. Another patient had constant guests; all talked constantly and went in and out past my bed. I was so ill. After a couple of days they moved him and his negative visitors. They had nothing good to say about anyone or anything in the hospital. They were bringing me down. Consider private rooms. Better for privacy, care, and ease of recuperating during illness. Thanks for my care.

The Brown Mackie College instructors and student at Kindred are terrible. The student nurses their leave their patients in feces and dont turn them. The instructors have a terrible attitude toward their students and they argue with the students in front of patients. I was also told that students names are forged in their computers saying they were on the property when they werent. This concerns me because if they would forge student profiles what else do they forge at that hospital. Stay away from this hospital unless you want to catch something. It stinks and is filthy. Everyone their is in isolation. Nurses their dont change their gloves and blame others for not doing dressing changes. Beware!

Our experience at Kindred was outstanding !! Our family was with our dad round the clock for a very extended period of time(due to an unsolvable underlying condition). We came to know and see the staff as only loving ,caring and knowledgeable. They get medical in a way "regular"hospitals cant and dont. The level of care and concern shows deep down dedication..They pick up the pieces, patch up the problems, and continue the care other hospitals discard too quickly. They are forever trying to fix whatever, whenever, however until the last breath or discharge. THANK YOU KINDRED for your care. Debbie and Ron Linhorst

First off....I wouldnt send my dog to this place! It is filthy and smells like urine! The staff is incompetent and they dont care about the patient at all. My son went here after surgery on his abdomen for pain management. They put him in a room unplugged his wound vac and left him there until I arrived and got on them! He recieved no pain meds or a dressing change, which can result in bacteria growth 2 hours after his wound vac was turned off! We left after 6 hours and took him to our hospitals ER to remove the wound vac!!!

I have been so honored to work for Kindred Hospital! They have such a wonderful, caring staff. Im amazed by the teamwork shown by everyone at this location. Kindred Hospital Louisville takes care of a very special patient population. Im not sure its understood what a great service kindred offers to our community. Its truly a unique and inspired family of people working together to enhance patient and families lives during a time of need.

Best in class for keeping super morbidly obese bedbound patients sucking air & living! Anybody else seeking some "rehab" should stay clear unless u want to succomb to a noscomial necrotic flesh eating wound. They do have an excellent wound care team that can "spray on" some skin in a can type stuff should a "problem" occur with those flesh eating wounds. Just cover it up with some spray & maybe turn em every few hours!
