This morning I had an appointment with Dr. Malik after having ear pain for a couple of days. This was my first visit to this clinic as my old doctor stopped practicing. My first impression of the office wasnt a bad one.. Its a clean office in a nice building. While waiting to be called back I was turned off to hear the front desk staff talking negatively about a patient that had just called. It was at that moment I realized I was having second thoughts about Doctors First. When I was called back to an exam room a young woman came in to check my vitals and weight. Shortly after another young woman came in to do an exam on my ears & throat. Not once did I actually see Dr. Malik, whom I had an appointment with. Once the exam was complete I was told two prescriptions would be called into my pharmacy. After giving the pharmacy information to the front desk, and confirming they had faxed the prescriptions, I drove to CVS to pick up my medication. Of course they hadnt received anything from Dr. Maliks office. Pretty frustrating. While standing in the pharmacy I called Dr. Maliks office, and of course, they were closed for an hour lunch. While listening to the automated answering machine I pressed the option to speak with a nurse, hoping they would be able to call in my prescription. A woman answered and told me I would need to call back after their lunch break. I asked if anyone could help resolve the issue, and save me a trip back to the pharmacy as I wasnt going to wait at CVS for almost an hour. Again, she rudely responded that the office was closed. The office itself is modern and clean, which is why I rated it two stars. I wont be returning as I dont feel they met my expectations. Although I WILL be checking my insurance claims as Im interested to see how my exam gets billed. Im curious to see the name of the physician rendering services as it certainly wasnt Dr. Malik.

Appropriately named, they put their "Doctors (profits) First". I have been here several times and was blown away. Its not that the doctors are bad, but the entire experience leaves you feeling like you are just there to pay the bills. First of all, each person I have talked to that takes your vitals and blood are all students finishing up their required clinical hours. (money saver #1) Next, the people at the front desk act like they cant be bothered by your issues. They hand you an iPad like tablet with a card reader to check-in/pay. If everyone that comes in here is sick, why would I want to touch that thing? Yes they could wipe it off, but the stylus goes into an internal holder and crap gets in there no matter what you clean. I came in for an eye problem and could not see well and still had to go through 20 screens. After I had input my ailment, the device actually showed me a full screen advertisement for medication that would help with the problems I listed. I had to click "Next" to get past it. I literally laughed out loud. Why is my check-in device trying to sell me drugs? I have worked in Pharm Sales/Education and I know that companies give these to offices so that they can sell their drugs but it was just very offensive. (Money save #2) Again, the whole experience, from the sales pitch on the unsanitary check-in tablet to the the under-trained rotating staff convinced me not to go back.

Although the experience went well, I am now deeply embroiled with CareFirst regarding a preventive maintenance benefit. CareFirst is declining my preventive maintenance benefit award because the person at Rakesh Mailiks office who administered my physical was a Physician Assistant--not an eligible PCMH PCP Doctor! Of course, I did not know this at the time of my physical. Essentially, the PA null and voided my Health and Wellness Evaluation (at least in the eyes of CareFirst) in terms of being able to receive the preventive maintenance benefit. It was the preventive maintenance benefit that drove me to Rakesh Mailiks office. I believe Rakesh Mailiks office should have been aware that I needed an eligible PCMH PCP Doctor to complete my Health and Wellness Evaluation before allowing me to go through the process. I certainly cannot be the "pioneer" for them with respect to a CareFirst Health and Wellness Evaluation. And, for that reason, I am rating Rakesh Mailiks office a ONE STAR satisfaction rating. What a waste of time and certainly a whole lot of headache! If by some chance this case turns positive, then I will come back to change my rating.

I would not give any star if there was such option. BEWARE!!!! This clinic intentionally sent my blood work out of network lab and didnt bother to tell me they were going to do so until I called them to ask about the $150 bill. I called my insurance and they advised me to appeal, which is how I got credited. This clinic will try to take advantage in taking your money any way they can!!!! In addition, this doctor charged me while I came in for preventive care all because I answered his question on how I was doing, and when I mentioned that I had an ongoing throat issue, he started to examine me. Had he notified me at that moment by examining my throat will no longer be a preventive examination, I would have asked to stop. In the end, he didnt prescribe me anything, other then consulting and later on, Im charged with a $95 bill after my deduction.

Dr. Malik has been our primary physician since ten years ago and my wife and I are very lucky to have him taking care of our health issues. One example is that last year I had caught the Lyme Disease and Dr. Malik recommended me to an excellent specialist Dr. Mathur on time and the troubling disease was cured on, for which I felt rather fortunate. Another example is that my wife has diabetes for more than 20 years and she has also been well treated by Dr. Malik and his associates. As a result my wife could enjoy happy retirement life. We both trust Dr. Malik and his associates deep from our heart and we would recommend him/them to all my friends when they need professional help..

I would not recommend this practice, nor will I be using it again.... I booked the appointment on ZocDoc, and knew I would not be seeing Dr. Malik, but one of his associates. The doctor I saw was female, and did not listen to my concerns carefully, nor did she take them seriously. I believe I had been having an allergic reaction to mold exposure, which she dismissed all of my symptoms, and insisted they were fine or nonexistent. Later, during online research, did I learn that my sysmptoms are classic of mold exposure. I will be getting a second opinion...

Probably the worst reception/doctor service in the area. I called 6 days in a row requesting a refill for my mothers BP medication and each time I called I had to tell the whole store again (my mother not well, she is dizzy, has headaches, please give her a damn refill, she is on those meds for years) and no one seemed to have any damn notes about the history of calls that I made. I ended up taking her to emergency. Clearly the staff and the doctor are not concerned about their patients health, not to mention how rude the receptionists are.
