I am 23yrs and have been struggling with deep cystic acne and clogged/stretches pores for three years. Ive tried natural remedies, change of diet, thrown hundreds of dollars at OTC products, moisturizers, treatments, face washes, scrubs, masks, noncomodogenic makeup (which I dont wear make up except weekends), the list goes on... nothing Ive tried has helped so I finally scheduled a dermatologist appointment August 2016. I couldnt get in until late October, but I couldnt wait for it, I thought I would finally receive treatment for this painful, scarring, embarrassing dilemma. I arrived and was notified that the doctor was running a bit behind schedule, which is fine, I understand were only human, but apparently a "little behind" lead to a 40 minute wait for my appointment. I was okay with it because I felt any wait was worth diagnosing the root of my acne. I would have been okay with waiting all damn day in that office just to find a cure! The nurse was wonderful, much more informative than the physicians assistant I briefly met... When Garbowitz entered the room and seemed rushed, she gave me a maximum of maybe five minutes, wrote off my issue as "hormonal" with out any questions or analysis of my typical environment, skin care routine, eating habits, stress, potential allergies or digestive issues, etc. and prescribed me Differin gel and said to schedule the follow up appt at the check-out desk and shot outta that room like she had much more important things to do. The nurse finished up explaining how the treatment worked and how it will get worse first and basically causes the clogged pores to "purge" and I wont see a difference for about eight weeks. Okay Ill give it a shot, im desperate as heck. Well they fn purged alright and my face is drier than the Sahara Desert. Its been about six weeks and literally patches of cracks and raw skin cover my face in the midst of countless erupting whotehead zits, purple and red scars, scabs, and cysts! I can barely smile or touch my damn face because it hurts so much and when I do touch my face, flakes of dead-ass skin float off all over the damn place. I cant even cover it up with make up because of how dry my face is. I bought the expensive recommended moisturizer, I dont use harsh detergents or exfoliants. I used a soft washcloth lightly on my face in the shower to try to schluff off the dry flakes and it literally just removed a layer of my skin and looked/felt like road rash on my cheeks. I put neosporin on my face at night and tape gauze bandages over it hoping to heal my skin to no avail. I havent used the product in days now because of how horribly painful it is and I do not want to aggravate my skin any more than it already is. I can barely smile, thanks! My follow-up appt is Dec 28th and I cant wait to Show her how wonderfully her half-assed treatment regimen has worked. Any physician should be entering that field of work for the sake of helping others and demonstrate their capabilities to their patients. I cant say people schedule appointments just for fun and to spend their money. Take care of the patients needs and actually put your education and mind to use to analyze the issue and properly diagnose it because thats why people go to a professional for help, we are not just another block of time in your schedule. This has been very beneficial to my self-esteem and social life. Youre lucky Im not interested in dating currently because this "progress" would sure be a confidence boost to get ready for a date! "Hormonal" my ass, Garbowitz!

I feel bad leaving a negative review because I never had a bad experience when I was in. The reason for the bad review is my skin issue was never resolved. I came in about a year ago because I had very dry, flakey, blotchy patches of skin and wanted to get it checked out. I saw a physicians assistant and almost as soon as she stepped foot in the room she diagnosed me with cystic acne. I was prescribed some kind of face cream($120!!!! I literally just about cried at the pharmacy) that was super harsh to my face and really just made everything much worse. I stopped using the lotion after a couple of weeks because I was still itchy and blotchy all over. After that I just about gave up trying to find any answers because I had already wasted so much money and still had no relief. This was until recently that the itchiness was too much to take that I set up an appointment at Dr. Marek Stawiskis office on Michigan. As soon as he saw my face he said it was eczema and he prescribed me a steroid cream that has helped tremendously and recommended an otc cream for the future.

Very disappointed in REBECCA M. JANSEN, MD, FAAD. I took my mother to see her hoping to get some answers. She has been struggling with some sort of small skin parasite for 10 months. Dr. Jansen looked her over, did one scrap in one spot, but did not dig deep enough to get a bug as my mother had asked her to. Jennifer said she would go check out the sample under the microscope and be back. She left the room for 1 minute and was back in saying she only saw skin tissue and asked my mother if she wanted a name of a psychiatrist to see. She also asked my mother if she had a good support system~ meaning my mom was crazy. Then when my mother wanted to ask Jennifer some more questions Jennifer said she had given us all the time she could for this appointment and she would see her again in a month. I have never gone to a doctor that just leaves before they satisfy a patient. On top of that my mother paid $50.00 just for the co-pay! She left there crying, frustrated, and feeling as though the doctor thought she was making this up.

My husband and I had back to back routine skin checks with Dr. Dapprich recently. On our drive home I mentioned to my husband that I felt the doctor was afraid to touch me. He basically had me stand up and did a visual of my front and back sides and said everything appeared fine. When I asked him if he was going to check my scalp, after mentioning that my sister had a huge cancerous spot removed from the top of her head, he just looked at me and told me I had a lot of hair, as though he was overwhelmed. My husband told me that he received the same type of exam and that he felt that the doctor appeared afraid that he might get cooties from him. Please consider the fact that we are normal, healthy, fit and clean 60 year olds. We left thinking that we could have done just as good of job looking each other over. We will not be returning. This exam was a total waste of money.

Most unethical office I have ever been to. Bold faced lied about fees and costs for service. The costs were outrageous. The procedure was done incorrectly and had no effect. The office manager acknowledged that they quoted the wrong price and did nothing to adjust it... In her words, "Sorry we made a mistake, but we are running a business so we will not be adjusting the cost." By the way, the charge was $200 for $3 of Kenalog, a one minute procedure involving less skill than an insulin injection. I was quoted a maximum of $79, if insurance paid nothing. Incompetent staff from my experience and an office only interested in taking your money. I would steer clear of Dermatology Associates of West Michigan.
