Ahh...They are the BEST...Id walk my family pet to the Vet before I had my own to bring in 1974. I grew up in Harper Woods..Ive lived all around Metro Detroit. I now drive 100 miles round trip for the Best Veterinary Doctors and Staff. I am an exhibitor/ dog breeder. When breeding there is always health testing compliance, hip Xrays for certifications, reproduction advice, anything supporting a responsible breeding program. They also support when something goes wrong in the whelping box. We are a multiple dog and cat family. You notice some of us are long time clients..Though the staff has changed over the years, many are long time employees..That says a lot regarding their business practice within. As faces changes within the practice another great member fills the void. This Veterinary practice does cater to us owners and our pets. I get better care and consideration from Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital than I do from my own Healthcare professionals..Such a caring and sportive group of people. Vaccines, diagnostics, surgery, dental, health testing. Great care and support when making a final decision..

Could not determine what was wrong with my dog when I brought her in. Suggested foreign body surgery after getting her x-rayed (there was no foreign body), Needed payment in full on the spot for surgery. I did not have the excessive amount asked on the spot. Where the vet proceeded to encourage me to euthanize my dog, 2 years of age. Enough was enough, I took my dog to a far more reputable vet where they quickly identified the problem and began treatment within hour, regardless of financial situation. I was required to pay over $500 at Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital for false negative tests, no treatment, and the encouragement to put my dog down. I would suggest finding somewhere else to treat your furry friends, and if something seems fishy, definitely search for a second opinion on the problem. Not only is my pup very much alive and healthy. There was absolutely no need to cut her open at such a hefty price. I strongly recommend going elsewhere if you care for your pets well being.

I have been taking my 2 cats to HWVH for a few years (ever since my vet, Dr. Nancy Pillsbury moved from another practice). The facility is clean and modern. What makes this practice outstanding for me is Dr. Pillsbury. She is extremely competent and down to earth. She takes time to explain all diagnoses and procedures in layman terms and answers all questions patiently. One of my cats is seriously ill with cancer. She told me immediately that he would need specialized care and gave me referrals to oncologists. She has called to check up on him several times and is a truly compassionate and caring human being. Whenever I call with a question or concern she returns my calls immediately, even on her day off! I have recommended her to several friends and they all love her. The prices at this facility are competitive and fair. Highly recommended by a very indulgent and protective cat mama! :}

I have been a client of Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years. My cats always receive excellent care. The doctors and staff are wonderful. I recently rescued 5 kittens. I was able to get an appointment that afternoon with Dr.Katlein. The kittens had an exam, flea treatment, deworming and a 1st immunization. I recommend Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital to all my friends with pets. Recently I took my 18 year old cat, Winkie, for dental a procedure. She had an extraction and cleaning. She is already eating more and feeling better. Recently I rescued a young, female cat. I was able to be seen within 30 minutes of calling the office. Dr Wright saw Bunny and we decided to have her spayed the next day. She stayed overnight and Dr Wright worked the procedure into a full surgery schedule. Bunny is now up to date with necessary shots, and she is home sleeping in the sunroom.

Ive been bringing my pets there since 2006 and they have been in business since 1954! Ive seen Dr. Katlein and Dr. Barnes and they both have all been great with my cats and dogs!! They are great with explanations regarding allergies and wont give them any vaccines they truly dont need. The technicians are great too and patient with my problem pets (one is very wiggly). I lost my dog Dustin to congestive heart failure at the age of 14 1/2 and I received a sympathy card in the mail from them. I feel that they truly care and even though I moved farther away I will continue to drive the 25-30 minutes to bring in my pets for their annual check ups and for any situations that may come up along the way.

We have been coming to Harper Woods Vet Hospital since I had my very first pet 45 years ago. Even though the Veterinarians have changed by retirement through the years they still have the absolutely best vets around. We also continue to move farther away from the office and I still will make the trip so that my pets can have the absolute best care. Dr. Balaj, Dr Katlein, and Dr. Pilsbury are absolutely awesome. They care for your pet like it is their pet, taking into account cost versus outcome. Dr. Balaj is absolutely the best surgeon in the area. As long as I live in the area and have pets they will go to Harper Woods Vet.

I was referred to Harper Woods Vet Hospitals Dr. Balaj in 2000 when I moved to the Eastside. I have loved and respected him ever since. All of my animals feel comfortable with him and I value his advice completely. The hospital is equipped with the latest tools and all of the vets in the practice are wonderful, hearing nothing but excellent comments about the practice. They are all very giving, working with a few rescue groups as well. And it helps that the Emergency Vet is right next door. Can not say enough wonderful things about this veterinary practice.

I have been a client at HWVH since 1973. In that time I had 1 cat and 5 dogs. Each pet has been treated as a family pet by the Doctors and Vet Techs. When we moved 15 miles away I went to a new Vet facility and was very disappointed. Not only did they ignore us in the waiting room, but they relied on hand-written records and did not send email notifications or have an interactive web site. HWVH excels at accuracy and personal service and communication with clients. I will drive the extra distance to continue being a client at Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital.

Took my son Roberts rescued Pittie Rocky to meet Dr. Balaj & the crew at Harper Woods Vet. Rocky was found wandering the streets of downtown Detroit as a pup, & consequently, had SEVERAL issues (broken pelvis, foreign objects in his stomach, two back legs severely compromised that remain as such today) True to form, Dr. Balaj was on the floor in no time, with Rocky in his lap, accepting kisses from the pup. Cannot say enough good things about these folks; I have been with them thru five (Count them!) dogs & two cats. Thats an awful lot of lovin!

We have been going to Harper Woods Veterinary for 20 years or more. Everyone there has treated us well but more importantly, our pets are treated better than I have experienced at doctors offices. You can tell they all love animals. From viewing only two negative comments, I can see why they treat animals so well. Many of the same staff members have been there for years. I have never seen any trace of racism or mistreatment of anyone! It is about the treatment of animals and not looking at the color of their fur ; )
