BEWARE!!!! Do not use Winchester Veterinary Clinic for any reason!!!! Dr. Martin at this clinic prescribed Rimadyl for my dog with arthritis. A generic equivalent called Carprofen costs $1,200 a year less than Rimadyl. Winchester Veterinary Clinic does not have the generic version and will not give me a prescription to get it at Walmart, Target or many other retail pharmacies that sell pet medications. Tell me why? GREED! NO CONCERN FOR MY DOG!!!!! Winchester Vet Clinic makes up ridiculous reasons like.... they cannot write a prescription because they cannot guarantee the quality of what a pharmacy will dispense. They try to say the vet clinic is responsible for it if a pharmacy gives you a bad drug. Is your family Doctor responsible if a local or mail in pharmacy gives you a bad drug? HECK NO!!!! LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!!!! If my family Doctor can write a prescription and let me chose where to fill it for my kid, why cant I decide this for my dog? Winchester Vet Clinic knows pet medications are legally controlled for quality, the same as humans, by the State Pharmacy Board, this is just a distorted lie they tell to set this scam up. Imagine your Doctor prescribes medication, refuses to give you a prescription and then will only sell it to you at the Doctor office for FIVE TIMES AS MUCH!!!! This is exactly what this vet clinic is doing. They charged me plenty for the dogs diagnosis. The dog does not need a blood test for this medicine until June 2014, but the vet clinic will still not give me a prescription. This is only so they can hold the dog hostage in pain and rip my family off. In my opinion this is a scam between the drug maker and the vet to take as much money from you as they can possibly get by preventing free trade and commerce through this method. They use your pets pain as a lever to get in your wallet. Just one dog, one prescription, and they are trying to extort $1,200 more than the medication should cost for just the first year. My dog will need this medicine for years to come. Imagine how the vet and drug company are doing this to thousands if not millions of families. It makes me sick! I guess they dont care much about the dog really, because after the rude receptionist yelled at me and made up one crazy story after another, they suddenly would agree to write a prescription if I pay them another $25! So, if you have a maintenance medication and are not due to go back to your family Doctor for six months, do they ever charge you $25 for a written prescription? NO, THEY DO NOT! There is only one reason to do this. The reason is the most perverse greed I have ever witnessed. Meanwhile, my dog is out of medicine and has been in pain for days while they try to extort money from its pain. They are not just greedy but display a complete lack of moral fiber. This is the last group of pirates to ever trust your pet or family money to!!!! We have filed complaints with the State of Ohio Attorney General, The Better Business Bureau, The Ohio Pharmacy Board, the Ohio Veterinary Board and local television stations fraud units (6 on Your Side, etc...). We have posted reviews on Google and Yelp. If they have ripped you off, please file complaints too. I am strongly considering a small claims lawsuit for the costs of another vet visit, what they have billed me already and the pain and suffering of my pet. There is a complete lack of professional ethics, and I am probably going to find out this collusion between the vet and drug company is illegal. It is illegal to do this with human drugs so my bet it is illegal to do it with vet drugs too. Go anywhere else but here...

Never will I EVER go to Winchester Veterinary Clinic again. And I will NEVER recommend them to anyone! We took Olivia (Our Labradoodle) there Monday because her right ear had been cut, they put her under and put two stitches in and we picked her up that evening. We assumed everything would be fine, WRONG. We went back TWO more times that night. The first time we went back within an hour due to the fact that the ear that had been stitched came out from underneath of the bandage and was bleeding pretty heavily. When we got there they rewrapped her head and in my personal opinion, they wrapped it entirely too tight. She was going berserk and sounded like she was dying while breathing, I asked them if the bandage was wrapped too tight and the vet responded, "No, shes just nervous." No.. No, she wasnt just "nervous," because she definitely wasnt acting like that or breathing like that with the last bandage. We then headed home, not an hour later her ear came out from the bandage again. I called the on-call vet and she met us at the clinic.. When we got there they took her back and rewrapped her ear again. After bringing her out the vet says, "If she gets out of this one shes a magician. And if she gets out again, Im off at 11, so shell have to go somewhere else." Very unprofessional. But I somewhat understand, it was 10pm and I know we didnt want to be there anymore than she did. We headed home, everythings fine (Besides the fact shes breathing like shes dying)... We wake up this morning, four days later and find her left ear, the one that wasnt injured and the one that was left out of the bandage, totally swollen. I called the office this afternoon and they said I could bring her in to be checked out. I also asked about her breathing (She still sounded like she was dying while breathing), they said that it couldve been caused by the intubation. About twenty minutes ago, we unwrapped the bandage. Turns out, the ear that wasnt injured in the first place is now injured, cut and bleeding! The bandage has been cutting into her ear that wasnt originally injured for the past FOUR days. Im not a veterinarian or anything, but Im pretty sure I can say thats not a normal outcome! And its definitely not something thats expected after paying $250 for our dog to be taken care of by a trained professional. Our Livy is now on the road to recovery, with not many thanks to the vets office. Oh, and ever since the bandage has been off, shes been breathing perfectly fine. Again, the bandage was entirely too tight and had been for the past four days. Im a very understanding person and know that mistakes and accidents do happen, but this all couldve been avoided from the beginning of the job was done correctly.

We have been taking our multiple pets to Winchester Vet Clinic for many years. I had been without a regular vet for a few years because I am very fussy about who my vet is and spent a lot of time checking out many vets before I finally chose Winchester to be our regular Vet. I have seen many different vets in the last 30 years and through my business I come in contact with lots of vets as well. I know what to ask and what to look for. I am not interested in fancy buildings or anything like that, I want someone who truly cares about my pets, but will also listen to me. Winchester has always done that and has always taken such great care of my family. In fact we now consider them all family. I have met other vets who are all about the money. You know, the ones who recommend unnecessary tests, or the most expensive drugs. I have never had that experience here. In fact they can be a little bit opposite and try too hard sometimes to save me money! The prices have gone up in the last few years, but that is to be expected, the prices for everything are going up. Vet supplies and medications are getting more and more expensive for the vet offices too. I dont mind my vet office making a decent living as long as they are taking good care of my pets. And they all are at Winchester, no one is lining their pockets with gold. Their prices are fair and honest. I also really appreciate that they are more than willing to work with OSU (or Medvet) when necessary. They recognize that regular (or what I call GP) vets are not fully experienced with certain procedures or illnesses because they dont see those every day. I would not go to my regular doctor for specialist concerns, so my pets dont either. However, I do value their knowledge and their input when I am making decisions about my pets health care. Every time one of my pets has to go to OSU for anything Winchester always follows up with me and helps me if I have any questions. Lynn and her staff will always go above and beyond for any animal, as is confirmed by how much work they do for homeless animals and the Fayette Shelter. They wont work for you for free, but they will help you any way they can. They have gone way, way above the norm for me and my animals on many occasions, and I cant thank them enough for all their love and kindness. Rest assured that no matter what they are all, always working together to do the very best they can for your pets!
