Read both reviews to hear the BS.... Notice 80% of the reviews for this place are 1-2 stars. Tells you something.. Review 1 -- Ok, Ive been to Vets for the last 30 years in several different states with a dozen different animals. Within the same office, like clockwork, 80% of the vets there are upselling scams. They act like they dont have a clue whats wrong with your pet and will suck your credit cards dry to the tune of $1,000s if they can. 20% of them, went to school to learn whats really wrong with animals. AND charge ONLY for that. My experience with Small Parkway, I was fortunate to get Dr. Periat who was in the rare 20%. Great service, great price. Skipped uneeded tests. 5 out of 5 stars. But knowing the odds, I cant vouch for anyone else there, and wont. Review 2 - Ok, Dr. Periat was not in, so I went to Dr. Lee. A younger Asian girl. Shes in the 80%. The ultimate upseller you will find, period. TOTAL SCAM! My dog had mucus in his eyes from allergies that turns into an infection. Hes had it at least 7 times and the cure are basic antibiotic eye drops. I usually walk into the vets office, the vet prescribes the eye drops and were done in 5 minutes. $40 plus the eye drops. Not with Dr. Lee! We talk about how both of our dogs have similar allergy problems that basically have no medical cure. We also discussed how Ive been using these eye drops the last two weeks and the infection is 80% gone. So its working... Then she has the aid present a bill where she wants to do eye tests, test the wax in the dogs ears, and a few other tests I didnt even bother to read. The bill $240!!!! She said something about if the dogs eye is scratched the eyedrops could make an ulcer on the eye. So she needs to do tests. Stupid. 1. She knew, Hes been getting the eye drops twice a day for the past two weeks (i had some left from his last vet visit). Wouldnt he have an ulcer by now if he was going to get one??? 2. She looked at his eyes with a flash with a magnifying glass. Wouldnt you see a problem with this??? And I wasnt even there for the allergy created wax in his ears? WHO CARES IF ITS YEAST OR NOT. Theres no cure, its allergy related. And hes had this for the last 5 years! If it was bacterial hed be dead already!! And you want to charge me for tests?? The lady is TOTALLY full of S***. She had to go to school for 8 years, but she acts like she has the intelligence of a high school dropout! Well actually, she hopes YOU DO so she can leech you out of your money. If she cared about my dog, she would have gladly given me what has already cured him 80%. But shes in the 80%. Money hungry, greed, could care less if your dog gets the help they need if youre not going to pay her TRIPLE! AVOID this woman at all costs. Shell say and do ANYTHING for that money! Looking at the reviews and my personal experience with this place, they need to just close the doors!

For the lifetime of my pet rats, I brought them here. The staff here took excellent care of my pets and the health problems they began to accumulate as they aged. When my girl needed a spay, they took excellent care of her and gave her plenty of medications that kept her pain free during her recovery. Then, when she aged and began to develop mammary tumors, they took care of those as well. Unfortunately, it became clear (through a biopsy) that she had cancer, and that no amount of surgery would keep up with the tumors. During this time the staff was supportive and kind, and when it became obvious that it was her time to go, they were extremely gentle with her. Likewise when it was my boys turn to go shortly after from extreme respiratory illness, they treated him with kindness as well. Afterwords I received cards both from the clinic and from the staff themselves, including one staff member who, despite never meeting me, gave me her phone number to speak to her as I dealt with the grief. I still keep the cards close. Oh, and its worth noting, before my girls time came, the employees put a great deal of effort into looking into treatment options for her, including looking into new treatments. They also were very good about answering questions when I came in asking if certain options were a possibility in treatment. Its very difficult to find locations that specialize in small animals and exotic animals. I notice a lot of the negative reviews are from people who were bringing cats and dogs to Parkway... there are plenty of veterinary clinics in the world where cats and dogs are seen, but not many where small animals like rodents or exotics like birds and reptiles are seen. Im thankful that Parkway exists as a place where small animals and exotics can be taken care of by people who are educated in their care. Thank you, Parkway.

Ive been takingall my pets to Parkway Animal Hospital since they were located in a humble little building in Mount Clemens. That was in the early 1990s and, overall, Ive been very, very satisfied through the long years. The new building is very spacious and pretty, but I did not find that increased the price by very much (to my surprise). I like the doctors because they are up-to-date on new medical information, plus they sometimes offer natural cures. They helped all my animals; I can honestly say they never made a medical mistake. My beloved cat was our only pet who did not make it while treated there (her disease was not easily curable and she was in an oxygen tent), but they let my daughter stay long after closing time while we made the decision what to do. They were very compassionate and did not try to force their opinion on us, like some vets do. I think Parkways vets have a lot of knowledge and really keep up with new medical info. My only complaint is that just lately it seems some of the techs seem a bit rushed and unfriendly at times - perhaps from overwork? To its credit, Parkway is open seven days a week; I find that very convenient especially for emergencies. As for the people complaining about the price, I must say Ive sadly never known a reasonably priced vet! I would say their prices are good to average, certainly not higher than normal for this area. Ive recommended Parkway to my own friends, and they were recommended to me by my dogs flyball team - everyone on the team seemed to go there and all the dogs were fast and healthy!

My daughter and I have been clients of Parkway Small Animal & Exotic Hospital and Dr. Thomas Bankstahl since he practiced veterinary medicine on Harper in St. Clair Shores. His practice has since become very impersonal and profit driven. A kitten died that may have been saved if the reception staff and Dr. Katherine Engel had shown some consideration and been more responsive. We had a scheduled appointment for one cat and brought in two and half week old rescue kittens for examination as well. We explained that one of kittens was in distress and the other two appeared to be stable. The two reception staff members pointed out there was only one appointment available and they could only see one kitten. They both spoke to us in very derogatory manner because we had not called ahead time about the kittens we had just rescued the night before. The vet saw our cat who had the scheduled appointment. She then gave us a very long lecture on scheduling appointments prior to the days visit, was very condescending, curt and rude. She never even gave the kittens so much as a glance. She told us that there where 5 emergencies ahead us and that we would have to wait to have the kitten examined. The kitten died less than a hour later. She and the office staff had clearly determined that a two and half week old kittens were a very low priority and that we where not valued clients. I will take my business the The Kitty Clinic on Garfield two miles away. The staff there has always been excellent towards my daughter and her cats.
