Dr. Barta took such good care of my 3 Labradors while we lived in Shelby Twp. He was able to find out that my oldest lab, Peanut had high blood pressure, even though several vets before him couldnt figure out what was wrong. He treated Peanut for K-9 lupus and a bleeding ulcer as well. He lived to be 16 years old (which is really quite old for a 100 pound lab) and I am convinced his longevity was due to Dr. Bartas care. He is by far the best vet we have ever been to. He would get right down on the floor to examine our dogs instead of making them sit uncomfortably on an exam table. He would pet our dogs through the entire exam, calming them down, and making a positive connection with them. You can tell that he really loves animals. We had to move out of state in 2008, and the thing I miss most about Michigan is Dr. Barta and the team at Veterinary General. I have been searching for a vet in Florida that is as awesome as he is, and I havent found one yet. He is truly 1 in a million.

Worst experience ever i took my dog here in February because he was limping on his front right paw they told me that there was nothing wrong with him 2 days later i brought him back the limp was worse they told me he had arthritis and sent me home with a bunch of medication about $437 worth a couple days later brought him back the vet asked me what i wanted him to do well you are the vet what should we do. So i took him to Richmond Veterinary clinic best vet ever was really nice and told me that my dog had cancer and was not going to make it wasnt about the money it was about the well being of the animal this place i really dont think they know what they are doing and the vet here is really weird like serial killer weird dont ever take your pets to this place if you care about them they are just here for a pay check

We went here with an emergency with our cat. They they sent us to an emergency clinic in Rochester because the vet tech could not determine the issue. The veterinarian was not even available. The Rochester veterinarian gave us a less than 50% chance of recovery after a 4K+ surgery and after the money we paid for the tests here. Second time, brought our dog there with a mass on her abdomen. Vet was not comfortable working on it. We had to go to Animal Hospital of Chesterfield to actually perform the surgery. Long and short of it, if you have the most basic shot or annual treatment that needs to be performed, go here. If your animal needs something more in depth, go elsewhere. Dont waste your money here just to get sent elsewhere to a veterinarian that can actually do the surgery.

Staff was unprofessional at every level. My pet was under an unknown persons name, wrong phone number and address. Dr Barta used outdated procedures and collar then blamed my pet for chewing his sutures and charges us additional to fix them. Dr. Barta offered no apology or understanding for the trouble we went through due to several mishaps on VET Generals part. This was the last thing a pet owner wants to worry about, the competence of the staff. Dr. Barta did offer a "good faith" refund as he recorded our last phone conversation, but since I REFUSED to agree that they were NOT at fault, it was quickly reversed and I received NOTHING! What kind of Dr RECORDS phone conversations???? One that has LOTS to hide.

Veterinary General has two very caring veterinarians, Dr. Barta and Dr. Lisa. The staff is always friendly, One of the things I like about this practice is that I never sit waiting and waiting in a room full of dogs. This is great if you have a dog that is reactive like mine. They are ready for you when you arrive and you are immediately welcomed and put in an exam room. You even pay for the visit in the exam room which is so much easier than trying to control your pet and pay at a counter. I highly recommend Veterinary General not only for the great care my pets, 3 dogs and a cat receive, but for the ease of the appointment too.

Dr. Barta and the staff are wonderful with my three cats. Even though the cats are semi-feral, the techs and the doctors can easily handle them. At another place I went, my cat was able to scratch me and the tech because the tech didnt know how to hold a cat. I first went to Veterinary General because it was close to home, but I continue to go there because I think they are wonderful. They were very informative about extra care I need for outdoor cats. (Yes, I know theyd be better off indoors, but they are still quite feral, even though I can handle them, they are not house cats.)

Today was our first time at the clinic. They were very understanding and helpful during a really hard time in our lives, dealing with a loss of our puppy. They took the proper steps to reassure me that my Golden Retriever was safe and protected from the illness our puppy contracted. For that support and attention we are grateful! Great staff and clean environment too! I wish I was able to leave a second review-- to state how thrilled I am with Dr. Barta. What a great clinic and wonderful dr!

Dr. Barta is a very good and caring Vet. He has taken good care of my Clifford from teeth cleaning to shots. I like the hours they are open because you never know when you have to see the Doctor. The whole staff are friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a Vet. I would recommend Dr. Barta and his staff. They operate a very clean and caring environment.

By far the best vet, doc barta is very informative and he understood and helped us figure out a way to help our dogs skin issue and not spend a ton of $ all at once..which ment so much to us, past vet basically took us for all we had and did nothing for our sweet shepherd..

Dr. Barta is the kind of vet I love. He listens , spends time with your pet . And listens to me, cause we all know our pets better than anyone else. My dog walks right in his office , without fear.Lucky to find him. The girls and techs are very friendly and sweet.

I love this veterinary office. The doctors and staff are super friendly and always happy to help! I love the patient portal for easy medication refills and reminders. I take all 4 of my fur babies here and couldnt be happier. I highly recommend them.
