After 20 years my vet retired! At Knapps, the vet/vet assistant (?) (they did not introduce us) took our cat from us through a door to the back to give her the shots. They had asked me about her claws and I told them they were OK, I had done them and was training my cat to have them trimmed. Upon return, the vet/vet assistant (?) told us that they had gone ahead and trimmed up her claws and also said "we hope you do not mind, but we shaved her belly a little bit to see if she had already been spayed". They did this WITHOUT our permission and KNOWLEDGE. At the follow-up appointment (we kept the appointment because they knew what she needed), my husband followed the vet/vet assistant (?) through the door to the back and when they told him they normally did not have the owners with the animals in the back, my husband told them that he wanted to make sure that they were giving her a shot, and that they were not doing anything else we had not authorized. We will not go back. They did not like that. We want to be present with our pets and do not want anyone doing anything to them without permission. We were NOT at all happy.

My wife and I adopted two project cats from Cat Welfare that had been there for a couple of years with no takers. Weve been using Knapp vet since we took them on board and have been very pleased with the overall experience. Our cats have needed several visits for a slew of different issues and all of the staff at Knapp have been very compassionate and kind. Our cats get seen by Dr. Craven, who always thoroughly explains the diagnosis, she clearly cares a lot about our pets and its more than just a job to make them better. Our appointments are sometimes quick and sometimes long, but we never feel rushed through the practice. Procedures, medications and the associated costs are laid out before we make a decision and it we are never forced in any particular direction (as much as we love our pets, some treatments are more expensive than others; the doctors at Knapp get this). We have been seen at very short notice on more than one occasion and the level of care and consideration is outstanding without variation.

My cat hurt his tail on a Friday and my regular vet couldnt get him in until Monday. So I called Knapps Saturday morning because my family has taken their pets there for a couple decades. They were able to see my cat right away and got him all fixed up. Unfortunately, a couple months later my cat had a freak accident jumping over a fence. They had a staff member in the waiting room for us when we got there. They saw him immediately, went over how much everything would cost and even stayed late to do surgery. They called me late that night to let me know how things went. Long story short we ended up having to put him to sleep. They were extremely kind, caring, and compassionate. They gave me the information I needed to do the right thing. I would recommend Knapps to anyone. I have made them my regular vet. To the staff at Knapps Veterinary Hospital I want to say thank you for your help with Pooper. I appreciate it more than I can really say.

Unfortunately, I must update this review. Last week, while my dog was in need, I tried to refill his prescription for anxiety. The doctors receptionist told the pharmacy not to refill his much needed medicine until he and I came in for his annual visit. After being a patient of the hospital for years, I called them and asked them to tell their supervisor I would never come back. While waiting hours for the medication for my dog who was going crazy due to the sudden noise of construction outside house, they wouldnt even give us two pills to calm him. The decision was not based medicine or care. It was based in anothers need in getting more business.

I love this vet. I brought my cat here many years ago when one was very sick and they helped me through the process for which he passed. With the first feline Ive had since then, an eight months old kitten with a dire eye infection, my first thought was Knapps and I couldnt have made a better desicion. The professionals here are just that but with huge hearts to match their expertise. With Dr. Cravens help, weve made a care plan for my little Beefy. Thanks so much animal lovers!

This place is great. Its right in the heart of Clintonville, which is super convenient for us. They have appointments regurlarly available after 5pm for those of us who cant take off work. Our vet is also amazing. He explains everything, answers our questions patiently and understandably, and is always providing us with life hacks for taking care of our doggos without breaking the bank. We will never go back to Banfield again!!!!!

Last October I had to have my cat Fats put to sleep after 15 great years. Dr Schiefer, was very kind to both me and Fats & I got to stay with him during the the whole thing. I now have a new buddy named Marmalade & I will continue to take him to Knapp Veteran Hospital for all his needs the 1st picture is of Marmalade and the 2nd is Fats who is now gone, but will never be forgotten.

As always, professional, clean, friendly, quick. Dr. Schiefer was very skilled and compassionate with my dog who was in pain. She quickly and efficiently diagnosed the problem and sent me home with 2 different meds for infection and pain. I so appreciated them getting me in at the last minute as well. Top-notch practice and very reasonably priced.

I rescued some kittnes and they were happy to see the kittens and give me special treatment through cat welfare. I owe them a lot , my regular vet threw me under the bus and would not see them as a group. Very patient and kind, staff so friendly I wish it was not an hour drive or I would change vets,

This rating is based only upon my last visit. It was a very emotional visit, so take the rating based upon this fact. I feel the way paperwork is handled if have to euthanize an animal is not performed professionally or with much tact. I honestly am hoping that my situation was an anomaly.
