We brought our two dogs here in hopes to find out where the aggression arose in our new dog and what we could do to alleviate the tension between all of our animals. Our past visits were great and we enjoyed visiting! But, sadly, that was cut short by lack of professionalism. My boyfriend and I are young, in our twenties, and Im sure on a Saturday with lazy day clothes, we look like any other pair of rascal teenagers that look like we are having problems with our animals due to lack of attention or care. All, which is completely wrong and false, was (Im sure) automatically assumed when our vet tech that accompanied us that visit first walked into the examination room. Immediately, she started to feed our new dog treats. He is extremely food influenced and anyone with a treat would be easy to get his attention, but she seemed to think because he was behaving for a treat, he behaved all the time. Due to him being in a new environment, Id expect a vet tech to understand that the way he acts at home, in a comfortable environment, and the way he acts in public in a brand new environment is completely opposite. As we explained, his good behavior right now is definitely not the case at home where he has attacksour cat and our other dog, along with biting and locking onto us, both drawing extreme amounts of blood from all of us, she continued to argue saying that its obviously not the case. My boyfriend and I were baffled that this woman continued to argue about a dog she just met, not giving us the benefit of the doubt that we knew what we were speaking of. She began to scold us telling us we were punishing him incorrectly, training him incorrectly, and we were the problem. At home, I have done hours of research in different ways to train in obedience and what could stem from his behavior. My lack of knowledge wasnt the case in our dogs behavior and it was quite evident that his aggression stemmed from somewhere deeper. The vet tech continued to talk down to us, then exited the office, which following her exit, Im sure she went in the back muttering to other employees of her "disbelief" that this adorable puppy could be so aggressive towards others and that we were the problem all along. Following other vet techs entrances and them making comments about the dogs amazing behavior and how theres no way he could be as bad as we make it seem, we were extremely frustrated. We were being talked to as if we were insolent children that had a complete lack of knowledge about owning and treating our animals. Unbeknownst to them, Ive owned 200 pound dogs that listened to every single command Ive given them and I trained them to my liking along with many other different types of pets that have been more than enjoyable to live with! After what seemed like an hour of being lectured, I was then told to let our 10 pound dog to attack our 3 pound chihuahua because "dogs will fend for themselves" and "she will be fine". Excuse me? Did you not just hear 3 pound Chihuahua? This women who scolded us our entire visit and then continued to tell us to let our dog abuse and fight our other pets has spotlighted her ignorance more than ever. After this visit and many more details that could make this story much, much longer, I will NEVER think to revisit or recommend this establishment to any living soul. Their own personal opinion overrules any professional opinion they SHOULD have given. Please save yourself the money and the hassle of hearing HEALTH PROFESSIONALS give advice on BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS and go to a more professional establishment that does not let immaturity and ignorance rule over their customers. I have gladly found a different establishment.

I had a cat that was 2 years old. He began urinating outside of his litter box. I took him to the vet (forest park) they said it was just stress. It continued to happen, so i took him back and they sill said it was stress. The vet would not listen to me...i kept saying i didnt think stress was the issue. ( this was saturday) i gave him the meds they gave, any and every cat stress relief possible hoping it would help. I was worried about him getting blockage, but they assured me he wasnt. The next morning i knew something was terribly wrong. My poor guy couldnt even walk. I rushed him to the emergency vet and found out he was completely blocked. They did surgery to put a catheter in but they were not successful, bc his bladder was so full of crystals his urine was like sand. I opted for them to do surgery to completely clean his bladder out, but they were not able to complete the surgery. I ended up having to put my baby down. It was by far the worst experience of my life. His life would have been saved had i not taken him here. For them to not be able to see his bladder was full of crystals, or that he was blocked is mind blowing to me, especially since they supposedly did an ultrasound of the bladder and tested his urine. The emergency vet office was even confused as to why he was sent home the day before! So $2000 later......and i still lost him. Im now confident that if i would have gone to a different vet i would still have him. Apparently thats a very common thing, and usually one of the first things they should check. 3 visits For the same issue in a 2 week time period....and they still didnt figure it out. They kept saying oh its just stress. They did call me 3 days after he passed to talk about his urine culture. Save your pets life and go somewhere else.

I started going to FPVC in the mid-90s with our first dogson. After his death in Nov 2005 we didnt get our dogdaughter until May 2006. At first I couldnt go to FPVC because it reminded me too much of our dogson. After a few years I was able to finally go back as I do like the doctors and feel Dr. Leonard is a great vet. I had an emergency this morning getting ready for work. I look notice a trail of blood, I follow it and it was our dogs back nail, it just came off. I was alone and tried and tried to get it wrapped to stop the bleeding but couldnt. So, I called FPVC, since I had been there recently and they are less than a minute away. Emily answered and informed me that although a tech was there, no doctor was so they could NOT help me. I pretty much begged as all I needed was someone to help hold her, I had my own bandages even. When I realized she could care less I hung up and called the vet we mainly go to but is farther away (and now I remember why we always go there). When Jenn at Cryan Veterinary Hospital, LLC answered and I explained what was going on she immediately asked when we could get there. Unlike Emily at FPVC, Jenn explained a tech could clean her up and bandage her, but a doctor was not there. She also told me what to do to stop the bleeding, something Emily did not do. The only advice Emily had was MedVet. A very expensive alternative, which in my past experience there is more of a life threatening place to go when your regular vet is not open. That is where we spent plenty of time with our dogson after his brain tumor was diagnosed. Moral of my story - be sure the entire staff is as compassionate as the vets. I cant say that to be true at FPVC. We will definitely not be back.
