Joe Bavonese, PhD, is one of those rare people with keen intelligence, strategic thinking skills, caring professional therapy skills and a great love of fun. Ive known Joe for the last 10 years, working closely with him to build by own psychotherapy group practice. I can truthfully say that I have followed his advice consistently over the last decade, and in every single case, it has been helpful, practical and strategic. Joe is the real deal. His Relationship Institute has given hope and renewal to 1000s of couples and individuals with serious issues such as infidelity, anger, depression and anxiety. Ive had the great privilege of knowing Joe Bavonese for a couple years now a group practice consultant.What Ive really admired is that Joe founded the Relationship Institute in 1992 and since that time has expanded to a group practice with 23 psychotherapists working in three offices in southeastern Michigan. Joe has been a key player in the development of my own psychotherapy and counseling practice serving individuals, couples, teens, children and families. We met with Shirley Bavonese on roughly a weekly basis (though our vacations/travels sometimes interfered with that). Shirley is easy to talk to and creates a very comfortable environment in which to talk things through. The approaches to communication that we learned have been invaluable in resolving conflict, feeling more connected, and understanding one another. In addition, the office staff I spoke with regarding appointments and billing were also helpful and professional. Both my wife and I would recommend Shirley and the Relationship Institute to anyone in need of couples counseling.
