After the hesitation and being somewhat intimidated by seeking out some professional support. I have to say, the relief I felt after the first meeting was wonderful . I had interviewed several therapists, but halfway through the first session knew this was going to be a great fit. She worked hard to establish a safe environment and intuitively was able to gauge my comfort level and seamlessly adjusted the dialogue accordingly . Within the first month of working together I felt supported and truly appreciated her openness to where I was currently in my life and where I wanted to be. I never once felt any judgment only lift it up. She made great inappropriate suggestions for some books and other material to work on at home. I truly felt she was just as committed to my having a better higher understanding of myself As I was. Over the years she has worked diligently to accommodate my ever-changing and demanding work schedule. If you are considering seeking out a therapist. I could not encourage you enough to take a meeting with Christine. With her support I am truly living a much more involved version of myself in my current life.

I was a patient for around a year working through some issues in relationship and work. I found her helpful to begin with but over time I noticed some manipulation and personal defensiveness on her part, I felt maybe some of her political and personal views were getting in the way and manifesting as hostility. Over time I became uncomfortable with her demeanor, which became what Id call defensive and closed after Id brought these issues up in session. In the end I had to look elsewhere for treatment. I later met another prior patient with a nearly identical problem with her... and also met someone who loved her and is still in her care, so maybe it just wasnt a good fit for me.

I have been seeing Christine for about four months now. I felt hopeless, scared and angry after some changes in my personal relationship, but Christine helped me realize that part of my problem was that Id long forgotten to take care of myself. Throughout the time Ive seen her, shes helped me get perspective, shes renewed my hope and shes guided me through this time of transformation. I am truly grateful to her and recommend her to anyone who needs some help overcoming a tough time.

I first met Dr. Cantrell in 2003. I went to one session with her, before I moved out of state. She made a great first impression for me. In 2007, when I moved back to Michigan, I began to see her again. I saw her off and on for over 2 years. She is a remarkable woman and doctor !! She helped me with many of my lifes challenges. I highly recommend her. She is professional, intelligent, warm, kind, and caring. - Nick (w/ Cash)

I have only seen Christine once thus far. I got a very warm, friendly feel from her. I decided that being honest would be what was going to help me best, so I told her a lot of things that I would not normally tell people and was very pleased that she did not seem to be judgmental or "put off" by anything I told her. I made another appointment and am already very happy with my Drs recommendation to her.

Ive tried a few different therapists over the past decade, and made the most progress with Dr Cantrell. Ive found that the help she offers is a good balance of personal candidness and clinical opinion. She also does a good job of giving you homework and clear goals to work towards. That’s a big help, because your progress will be much slower with a passive therapist.

Dont know how to describe it, just felt unsafe. Not physically unsafe, just didnt feel like a friendly therapist, instead of listened to, I felt judged.
