First off: my mom had called to make this appointment, she originally said 1:30pm & then changed her mind & clearly communicated (within the same phone call) that she wanted to change the appointment to 3pm because I had other appointments that day. Day of the appointment comes around, & I get a call at 12:30pm from someone who didnt really identify themselves requesting that I come in to start my 1:30pm appointment, in a manner that seemed very impatient, as if I was somehow supposed to show up an hour early on my own...? Kay. Whatever. So I get there. & the lady at the front counter sasses me when I said I had an appointment for 1:30 - "well. Its 12:30pm right now." Yeah I know - & I come to find out that the doctor himself had called me to come in early without at all communicating that to the front desk. She also tells me that me appointment was made for 1:30pm because they couldnt check with my insurance on whether theyd cover my exam until 1pm; so I had to agree to pay out of pocket in the event insurance wouldnt cover it before I could start my exam. Zero communication. Again, Kay, whatever, I can deal. So I head back, do the normal intake stuff, & get into the room with the doctor; everything seems normal. Exam starts, the usual "whats better: one or two?" & I answer & quite a few times he second guessed me, like "are you sure?" & seemed uneasy or skeptical of my answers which made me very uneasy & skeptical. Ive gone to Vision Works in the past (not this location, as Im from Maple Grove) so I assumed they would have even like a little bit of info on what contacts they had ordered for me in the past, but he asked me about it, I said I didnt know for sure, he didnt even let me throw out a guess, & he just picked a random brand that offers monthly lenses without asking anything else or even giving me an opportunity to discuss issues Ive had with contact lenses in the past; he also said that -7.50 is the highest power they make in contacts & Ive found evidence to the contrary, so thats some BS.l So I get these random brand lenses, this brand Ive never had before, & request a years worth; the lady who was at the desk when I entered dropped 4 six-pair boxes (2 for each eye) into a bag, said it was $50 a box, & rang me up. Well, she only charged me for one box of each. & I received a phone call a few weeks later that I could come pick up my ordered contacts, which I did not order & dont need since I already have a years worth. So beyond my actual experience there: these lenses are the worst thing to happen to my eyes as they fall out so easily & have actually caused my eyes to become excessively dry & irritated - I wore them for today (this pair has only been worn twice before), did nothing unusual or effecting my eyes, didnt even wear a drop of makeup, & Im currently almost unable to blink because my eyes are stinging & feel so dry; this is a problem I have never once had in my life. Im also pretty sure that my prescription is incorrect/inaccurate because I havent been able to adjust at all to the new glasses (not purchased through them) I got with this new prescription & can not clearly see distances whilst wearing them, even after almost a month of having them. Long story short: horrible customer service; horrible communication; general cluelessness; zero attentiveness to patients needs/concerns; all of which have led to me having extremely dry & painful eyes while I am on vacation. I will not be returning to this location. I would rather pay the fees out of pocket (second exam not covered by insurance) than return to this place to have them mess up my prescription & my eyes again. Peoples eyesight isnt something to screw with. Fair warning: this is the only ophthalmologist in the area within the Medica network. Youll be better off paying out of pocket for your exam to be properly done rather than use insurance & waste money buying glasses & contacts at the wrong prescription that you cant return.

I am really confused with these bad ratings because I am usually the one that isnt happy with anything, but I was having a very bad day due to my glasses breaking and I am basically blind without them. I was told by a couple different vision centers that my frames were no longer available and that I would have to buy a completely new pair of glasses even though I had just replaced my lenses 3 months ago. My wife and I drove all around the twin cities for over 4 hours until I was referred to a jeweler in Crystal whom over the phone told us he would be able to solder them thus saving the entire pair of glasses, but when we arrived unfortunately he was unable to do the repair. I was at my Witts end when my wife happened to look up and see the Vision works sign across the street so already more than 4 hours into our nightmare she said give vision works a call, what can it hurt at this point so I called over there and spoke to Lexa explaining my situation and giving her my #s off my broken frames. I was put on hold for less than a minute and when she returned to the phone to my total surprise SHE SAID SHE HAD THEM, I walked into the store 5 minutes later and was greeted instantly by all 3 employees with smiles on all their faces. Lexi new me instantly by my voice and had the new frames at the front desk and she had my lenses switched within 5 minutes and even filled out our paperwork for our out of network vision care insurance that we had no idea we Qualified for!!! From my initial phone call to them until we left vision works was 15 minutes and was the best experience we have probably ever had and we will make it the only place our family goes for all our vision needs. Thanks to Lexa and the entire staff for turning my very bad day into a great one that inspired me to write this review which I never do. Our sincere Thanks and keep up the incredible work The Martins

I wouldnt even give them 1 star!! The customer service sucks! I called ahead to ask if their office honored free trial certificates for contacts, and the receptionist (if you even wanna call her that) she told me that as long as I had gotten my contact eye exam there, it would be honored. She told me all I had to do was come in with the certificate during the hours the doctor would be in, and as long as he okd it I would be good to go. So I rush over there during rush hour because the doctor left at 6:30, get there and pull out my certificate and she told me, "oh we cant honor this because you would have had to have brought it in within the first 60 days of your eye exam". Keep in mind not only did I call ahead to MAKE SURE!!! that they honor them, I EVEN GOT THE NAME! of who I spoke too and turns out she was one of the people telling me no. When I told the both of them I had spoken with Linda, and why she didnt tell me this over the phone to save me the trip!! And they both where in denial, talking about "no she wouldnt have said that, and she would have told you the right info" . Yea right. I HATE THIS OFFICE THERE GOOD FOR NOTHING! This is only one of the many problems ive had with this office, this was just the last straw. I rather pay for an over priced exam even though my prescription is still valid, then to go back to them!! #donttalktoLinda
