Being a farmers son, and a lifelong dog owner, Ive witnessed many different Vets treat our livestock, and family pets with whatever has ailed them. All of them have a similar level of professionalism and care, knowing that the animal youve brought to them means something to you, whether it be companionship or livelihood. But Dr. Nelson and her staff has shown more care and concern for my lab, than Ive seen shown on any animal weve had treated. My dog Riker, a 103lbs Chocolate Lab, needs a monthly shot to treat his Addisons Disease, which hed prefer not to get. But instead of the brutish treatment I had seen, Kelsey will kneel to Rikers level and give him a big hug to keep him still. There are other examples, to many to list. But those small things they do, are the big reason why I will keep going to NMAH for as long as Riker needs me to. TL;DR - Go to NMAH, your pet will thank you.

This vet is very professional and they are extremely organized. I dont question the quality of their work in the least. The prices are a bit high, but I would rather pay more for quality care for my fur babies to make sure it gets done right, so thats not an issue. What I have an issue with, is that some of the people here seem like they are in so much of a hurry that they dont even explain to you what theyre going to do or why theyre going to do it before they just go ahead and do it. If my pup is due for vaccinations, so be it. But when I go in specifically for vaccinations, there is absolutely no reason to do a bunch of lab work unless its necessary. And if they reccommend that lab work be done, they need to ask me before they just do it...that unnecessary lab work doubled my bill that day. I dont take my pups there anymore.

I took my cat Bella to see Dr Nelson for a yearly checkup. When I called and scheduled the appointment I explained to the receptionist that Bella has FIC and has required quiet. I asked that We could get into a room as soon as possible when we arrived. When we arrived, we got in a room and the paperwork was done and I shared all the paperwork I had on her. Dr. Nelson treated Bella with great respect for Bella and her condition. I have had to call for an issue that cropped up at a later time, and got the attention warranted for the issue. I will be taking Bella back for her next yearly checkup and also my other cat TyBee will be going for her checkup. I have already recommended Dr. Nelson and my sister has taken her dog in for a yearly checkup.

If you are looking for a good, no great vet for your pet, Dr Nelson is the best you can find. I have looked for years for a vet to help our Scottie and Dr Nelson took the time to listen and was able to get him healthy again. Recent experience...my sons dog, a Husky mix was vomiting for days and we had no idea what could be wrong. Dr Nelson took him in the day we called and with an x-ray and blood test, she was able to diagnosis his problem and within two days he was back to his old self. I cant say enough good about this wonderful woman! We really appreciate her and recommend her to anyone looking for a vet that really cares about the animals she treats. She is located at the North Mankato Animal Hospital in North Mankato MN.

I strongly do not recommend this clinic! I brought my puppy to this clinic to get spayed. The operation went well and the veterinarian informer me that her stitches would dissolve from the inside and that a return visit would not be necessary. Well a few weeks went by and I noticed 3 long threads were protruding from her abdomen, and it wasnt long after redness and a large blister formed. So I called the north mankato pet hospital and explained the situation and scheduled a time to come in. When I walked in I was ignored and felt very unwelcomed. They insisted I still pay 60$ for them to correct their own mistake. They sure as hell didnt take any responsibily but they did take my money.

I adopted my cat Smokey over 2 years ago & when I got him, something wasnt right. I brought him to a vet in my hometown who told me it was just a UTI. After a thorough exam & an xray, Dr Nelson found a lot more going on including a previous fractured pelvis that didnt heal right which all his problems arose from. He needs to be on a special diet for it. Without her care, Smokey may still have had problems or worse. I wont bring my cat anywhere else. Dr Nelson is very nice & answers all of your questions & provides great care! Definitely recommend North mankato animal hospital!

They are closed for one week with one weeks notice. This should be realized at least a month in advance. We now have to take our pet to another clinic to get a checkup and refill a prescription that only this clinic knows what worked. Our dog would likely itch through her fur causing many open wounds if we wait a week. Your answering recording provides no reason why you are closed and gives a number that routes to eden prairie. You have passed on an expense for us that results in finding care elsewhere; regardless if you are open or not.

Our 1 year old puppy Thor loves Dr. Nelson and the staff at North Mankato Animal Hospital. Dr. Nelson is always available to answer questions by phone as they come up, and has helped Thor recover from two infections recently. One of those infections was tricky to diagnose, but Dr. Nelsons differential approach helped her figure out quickly how to make Thor feel better. So in addition to regular visits for shots, I trust Dr. Nelson to help us in an emergency situation. We are lucky to have such a good vet so close to our home!

Our cat Hairy Pawtzler got sick while we were visiting Minnesota. I checked online and North Mankato Animal Hospital has a 5 star rating, so thats where we went. Dr Nelson and her assistant went above and beyond in helping us find out what was wrong with Hairy. Dr Nelson had a wonderful way of interacting with Hairy. She answered all our questions and treated Hairy that day spending extra time with us. The hospital was very clean & professional. We would highly recommend North Mankato Animal Hospital!

Our puppy is our everything and we feel so fortunate to have come across such a great vet for our Riley. Riley loves Dr. Nelson; she is very gentle with him, and always has an answer to any question we have. We always feel like he is in great hands when he gets his check-ups, when he was neutered and any other reason he might be there. I cannot imagine Riley seeing anyone else! I highly recommend North Mankato Animal Hospital; theyre all so wonderful!

My cat got out into the garage and stepped on a glue insect trap. He was hissing and howling in pain when I would attempt to remove it. So I called them to see if they had time to see him today. Talked to vet and she was so kind and helpful with her advice of using vegetable oil. She also said if that didnt work call them back and they would be able to see him. The vegetable oil worked perfectly! So grateful for her advice and willingness to help me!
