After several years of struggle for my young daughter, and after attempting to see several psychologists who would never answer the phone or return your phone calls, and after seeing two other psychologists before her, the heavens finally opened and we saw Dr. Shoemaker. Dr. Shoemaker is the first psychologist that my daughter felt comfortable with and felt she could open up to. She is the first one who really let me, the mother, talk and she actually LISTENED instead of me having to repeat my story and my daughters issues EVERY SINGLE TIME I WENT. She is the first one to suggest cognitive and behavioral therapy FIRST, instead of just jumping straight to medication. She really is kind, patient, professional, and she knows her stuff. Her demeanor is quiet and unintimidating. You cannot possibly fathom what a breath of fresh air she has been to us. I am so thankful that we found Dr. Shoemaker. She has helped my daughter immensely. If you are a parent struggling to help your child overcome some mental or behavioral situations, I highly urge you to give Dr. Shoemaker a chance. She will help lift this burden that youre carrying and bring some relief to your childs heart & mind, and therefore, to you and your household. Look past these other reviews and give her a chance. I promise, you wont be disappointed. She has helped us so much and I truly believe that God directed our steps in her direction.

I did not even make it past talking to the receptionist. The woman has no idea how important her job is. She is the first person people going through some of the most difficult times in their life talk to, and she was incredibly rude and obnoxious. If this is the kind of staff Dr. Shoemaker has chosen on staff, I would not put much faith in her decision making.
