I live in downtown STL but still drive out to 270 and Dorsett as I feel Dr. Chipperfield is one of the best Vets in Saint Louis. Caring, compassionate, honest, and willing to go the extra mile for her patients (and their owners). She has cared for my 3 dogs and 6 cats over the years through regular checkups to saying good-bye. During every step you can see the love she has for animals and treats them as they were her own. Dr. Chipperfield has a close working relationship with the Mizzou Teaching Hospital (she is an alumni) so when things get serious, a phone call from her can get you in and directly speaking to some of the best specialists in the nation. She is also one of the very few that does house calls which can be a huge stress relief on pets that dont like to travel. I can say from personal experience when it came time to say goodbye to my beloved cat Toes and bulldog Myke, she was there and gave them the comfort for leaving us in the comfort of their own home. I highly recommend Dr. Chipperfield as I am sure my pets do (she spoils them).

I went to Petsmart in Bansfield prior to going to Dr Chipperfield for a cyst to be examined on my shelties paw. After they had me leave my pet there for 4hrs they called and told me that they could not restrain my 33lb sheltie (and he is not a crazy dog)! They charged me $65 and basically did nothing for my dog! They were also planning on charging me another $160 to send out their sample for a cytologist report! Then I went to Dr Chipperfield, and my total visit time there was about 30 min. She was thorough and efficient in her diagnosis, and she did everything in her office (did not need to send out a sample to a cytologist) and was significantly cheaper than Petsmart! She was also very patient and took the time to get to know my pet prior to examining him. I highly recommend Family Animal Hospital for any pet owner seeking quality and affordable care!

Dr. Chipperfield is the most amazing vet. My cat Squealer is very scared of vets, but that wasnt the case with Dr. Chip. She came to my apartment (isnt it amazing she does house calls?), and sat in the floor with him. She took the time to let him sniff her, then petted him before she started the exam. Ive never seen a vet with a more tender touch. She treated him like he was a child. Shes since made another house call for me, with the exact same results. I also took Squealer into her office once, and the care there was just as loving and compassionate as it was in my home. Her office staff, as well as the staff that accompany her on house calls, are every bit as loving as she is. I wish I would have known about her YEARS ago. I now tell everyone about her, trying to encourage them to change to her, and will never stop!!! Shes our vet for life.

Ive got a very special dog that requires a lot of patience and is aggressive when scared (which is most of the time, she was previously abused). These people are awesome with her. They have to sedate but theyre so gentle with how they do it even though it requires multiple people and many heavy blankets. Dr. Chip is great with establishing a familiar relationship with the animal before any examination begins. She also treats my disabled aunts animals on house call and my sister recently had to put down her elderly dog and they did so in the comfort of their home. All the other staff are simply awesome people too. Incredibly accommodating and understanding and when my dog got a horrible ear infection, they worked with me when I could not apply the necessary eardrops, getting her healthy with adjusted methods.

I truly cant say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Chipperfield and her staff. I took my cat, Frankie, to see her last fall and was immediately caught off guard by her gentle approach. He is not at all an easy patient, but she tried several different ways to approach him in order to perform a thorough exam - none of which included handling him roughly, which most vets that we have been to have done. She understands that gaining his trust and keeping him calm is almost as important as the actual exam. The doctor and her staff were so friendly and comforting to Frankie and myself. The name of the hospital is certainly appropriate, as they do treat your animals like the family that they are to you.

Best Recommendation I ever received! I became a first time dog owner 5 years ago, a friend of mine recommended Dr. Chip and it was the best choice Ive ever made for Bella. Dr. Chip is caring, compassionate, great at what she does, and loves what she does, its clear and evident! I lived in St. Charles and went to Dorsett, now I live in Ballwin and will drive to Dorsett - not just because Dr. Chip is the best, but Bella absolutely loves her! My dog will squirm away from the groomers and the "door" at Petsmart - but shell happily wait at the door for Dr. Chip to come in during our appointments. Dr. Chip is absolutely amazing. She is great with my very skittish dog. She doesnt hesitate to sit on the floor for the exam to make my dog more comfortable (vs. getting her up on the exam table). She always offers all of the options as far as treatments needed and does a great job explaining and recommending the best treatment for my very quirky dog. The staff at Family Animal Hospital is super friendly and welcoming and I think their rates/pricing are very reasonable as well.

I cant say a whole lot that hasnt already been posted. Dr. Chip is simply a great vet. She goes to great lengths to provide good care and advice. She is very reasonable and efficient and provides her personal phone for after hours assistance, which is a great asset for an inexperienced owner of a young puppy! I have moved over an hour away since I started taking my dog to her and after seeing a couple other vets, I will make the trip to give her my business. Thanks Dr. Chip!

To keep a long story short, my cat needed emergency surgery and as a graduate student I was in quite a pinch. The staff here helped me examine all options when I was desperate and in the end Dr. Chip saved my cats life by doing the surgery herself. It was cheaper than a specialist and now my cat is back to his mostly normal, but often strange, self.

We met this group while at the St. Louis Pet Expo. I think we pass 4-5 other veterinary clinics as we drive from U City out to their office. However, for us, it is worth the drive. No one cares for our animals the way Dr. Chipperfield has. She spends more time on the floor with them than talking to us.

The tragedy of my doggys passing brought my family into contact with Dr. Chip. Her intuition for my guy was instantaneous and genuine, her care for both animal and human was remarkable. I will never go to another vet-wish Id known about her along time ago.
