September 2016 my brother was in Centerpointe in St. Charles for alcohol detox. Day three he started going into DTs and hallucinating and the staff did not recognize this. They transferred him to the psych ward. Because of his delusions and hallucinations and poor judgment and what I feel like was a lack of proper treatment on Centerpointes part, he checked himself out of Centerpointe. The staff was not properly trained to administer medications effectively to patients with poor judgment and decision-making, which many of these patients have. From what it sounded like to me, the stafd were not professional and they were not respectful to the patients. I did not feel that Centerpointe staff was properly trained to handle these type of patients, particularly the ones that are dual diagnosis. Dont waste your time and effort getting your loved one into this facility. I do not feel that they treated my brother with dignity and respect and they did not know how to properly care for him during his alcohol detox and dealing with his mental health issues that he has. He said he had a lot of free time during the day, which they couldve used for therapy and counseling. They did not keep the patients busy and there were too many smoke breaks and game playing / free time for those who do not smoke, who want to keep busy, and be constructive with their time. Three weeks after leaving Centerpointe, we took my brother to Mercy St Louis because he was so sick, and he was successfully detoxed with proper medical care under the direct supervision of physicians, psychiatrist, psychologist, and professional nursing staff.

I had a lot of free time and qualified for the Outpatient Program run by Celeste Smith and her staff. Theres the cliche, "use your time wisely",,,,I would say I didnt. If you like sitting in a circle of four groups per day, listening to lazy, mostly overweight, individuals who you know arent getting better by complaining about their miserable lives and problems, then my all means, go for it. Celeste and her team is quick to xerox the Medicare/Medicaid cards, knowing that the persons bringing in money for the Center, but its a good show the staff put on in making you believe that youre there for any other purpose, If youre truly stuck in a group home with limited transportation, and need something to do besides chain smoke, I would say to hop on their van. At least youll get a good free meal--salad bars great---if not lousy free therapy

The therapists are boring. The group topics are repetitive, and all you ever hear is the other patients complaining about every little thing. The therapists there pay no attention to the needs of their patients. I was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, and I felt like I was being shunned by my therapist. She was not at all supportive and a little bit condescending.

This place was a life saver for me. My therapist David was amazing and helped me understand things! I have been back and will be returning if needed! This is the ONLY place that has ever helped me! I highly recommend it to everyone! For behavior health, co-occuring disorders, and drug treatment! I have used it for all...

Being able to talk out your issues, and hearing other peoples problems is what group therapy is all about. If this is not your thing, dont come here! It helped me get over my dads murder! Therapy is what you put into it, and what you get out of it.
