On Dec 22,2014 I was sent to the emergency room by my doctor ..I was in very bad pain and didnt know why....I was treated by emergency room persons and hope to the good Lord never have to go there again....I am 70 yrs. old because X-rays showed nothing my pain m must have been manufactured...they gave me three different medications for the pain ..since they werent working I was accused of medicating myself at home an had to be taking some strong stuff..they implied this not only to myself but also to my daughter...maybe if I had been given one dose of proper pain meds and dosage they would have worked...not only that , blood was taken left on my bed and when I moved it fell to the floor, i retrieved it and called for assistance and no one could give me the correct answer as to why it had been left on my bed...you see the male nurse who took had come in and told me he was waiting for blood results and would let me know when they got back...all the while the blood was on my bed ..taken by him...amazing he also gave no answer for this error ..a nurse than told my daughter that some OLD people look for attention like this because they re lonely...i LIVE with my daughter 4 grandchildren ages 14 thru 23 and believe me am not LONELY...there are more things I could say but I am sure you understand where this is going I feel very insulted to think nursing staff would insinuate this al because of my age...it is scary..I thank God my daughter came and was witness to this I feel for the elderly with noone they are definitely in trouble ...this staff should go back to school...learn respect.caring for SENIOR CITIZENS and because a test doesnt give an answer to accuse the person of doing drugs and mental capacity being limited is a disgrace...I am not mentally disabled dont do drugs of any sort (Tylenol) and lead a very active life ...I have never been so disrespected .hurt..and insulted before... I use to refer people here because they treated my husband so well before he passed...Never ever again...Barbara DM

I am only giving 1 star bc the wait was not long. I fell Christmas Eve and pulled a muscle in my neck causing severe nerve pain radiating down my arms and into my hands. I also thought I broke my forearm. I was triage and taken back quickly. I told the first nurse that was having nerve pain and felt a pull in my neck when I fell. He ignored me and focused on my hands as bruising although I clearly described nerve pain. I told the Dr. (Santiago Muzones) the same thing over, over and over again. They took me back for x-rays and I told the tech the same thing about my neck and that I pulled something in my neck, which was causing the radiating nerve pain and needed a Cspine x-ray as well. No one listened. No one did a neurological workup AT ALL!! The diagnosis given was hand contusion which was not true. I followed up with my pcp and talked to my mother who is a NP and it is a cervical strain/sprain which is what I suggested and suspected. I am following up with a neurologist, having a MRI and possibly physical therapy. I know that it was a holiday and the staff did not feel like working (bc the first nurse was on her phone when we entered the ER...checking social media pages) but if I was someone who did not have some sort of access to proper medical knowledge or care I would be in chronic pain or relying on pain medication, under the impression that I had a bruise in my hands. I will never visit this facility again although it is close by!!! Who knows what would happen if it was a life threatening injury. Lazy and incompetent are two words that should not be in the same sentence as ER medical staff. I hope no "cares" for their loved ones the way they cared for me.

They charged $9.2k ($8k for hospital, $1.2k for physician) to my insurance for a chest pain emergency visit where they did an echo, a head scan and some blood test. They found only that I had high blood pressure but no explanation as to why or what to do to resolve it. I ended up sitting there on the bed in the hallway for over 5 hours. Then they had a nerve to ask me to stay overnight, so that they can do more useless tests and to have an opportunity to rob me blind, all while having a stupid smirk on the face when I told them no. Overall, no major service or explanations were provided to me and the cost should never cleared over $1k (even cash). My insurance eliminated some of their charges by agreement, but paid the hospital around $2.5k (more than enough for minimal amount of work they had done), but left me to pay another $1k ($500 for each bill). My insurance (UHC) did not seem to review itemized charges for being accurate or if the charged amounts are even fare. When I called them, they refused to budge on any of the charges, even though they got paid more than plenty. So the only option remaining here is to take them to court and ask to get a full investigation going into unreasonable amounts they over-bill for basic services as well on-call physicians. To be continued.. I want to make sure others are aware of their practices to provide useless service without explanations or results, overcharging for basic services, and finally having a nerve to extort for huge, unjustified sums of money. Avoid this hospital and the emergency room, unless you are dying and dont care anymore.

I first went to the emergency room, and was treated immediately. I was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains. Afterward is was decided that I had to stay for further testing. Naturally I didnt want to, but I and my doctor needed to find out what the problem was. I was brought up to my room on the second floor, where I was greeted by the nicest people you could ever meet. Now Ive read some of the very negative reviews and yes there are some problems at the hospital. What I mean is, no its not the nicest looking hospital, but this looked to be an old building. However, those who complain need to understand that Raritan Bay isnt a vacation resort. If I had any complaint, it would be about the food. But once again, Im not staying at a 5 star hotel. The most important thing is the professional service thats given to you. With every changing shift, the quality of the nursing staff was exceptional. Nurse Pipitone and nurse Mendez, were absolutely fantastic and on top of there game. In fact all the staff I came in contact with were awesome. Another nurse, Tara ( I cant remember her last name ) was also very much the professional. The staff treats you with care, and total respect. Now for you folks who tend to complain about everything, take into consideration just how hard it must be to take care of everyones needs at the same time. These nurses, nurses aides are constantly on the go. Give them a bit more slack. This is a profession I could never, ever do. Im forever grateful to these folks, and the hospital.

This is the worst hospital. I had to go to the ER twice this past year, once for a herniated disk and then for kidney stones. Bother times they did the absolute bare minimum and o lying gave me pain killers and said go find a outpatient doctor. When I was in severe pain with kidney stones during Christmas, they gave me oxy and said to go home and find a outpatient hospital. They did not want to admit me for such a minor procedure and only get small fees. Please do yourself and loved ones a favor and dont go to this hospital. They just want to bill you and leave and dont give a crap about your health. With my kidney stone, they were force discharging me and I said I can barely walk and the pain is aweful, they said, then just come back to the ER tonight if it continues to hurt. They refused to check me in and wanted to make more $$$ by admitting me again in ER. When I asked them to check me in and do the procedure, they laughed at me and said, this is the ER, we do not cure you". Such an aweful hospital. Two bad ER experiences in a row and I am done. Cant believe they would not do simple procedures to cure us and instead want us to go to their outpatient doctors. Just a aweful hospital.
