Ive been a client of this business for close to 3 years. The doctor is great. I dont have any beef with the doctors. They all seem competent and sympathetic. On my latest visit, the visit that prompted this review, the doctor (Catinney) even volunteered to see my dog at my home on his way home. Thats a good guy! This review is not about people or personalities, it is about the business. It is with the business that I have a beef. Ultimately I am client of the business, and I have time management needs that I feel cant be met by this business. If you dont have a problem with consistently waiting 30 minutes to be seen for a scheduled appointment, then you can stop reading this review at this point. I tried to be patient about the 30 minutes (minimum) to an 1.5 hour (max) wait for a schedule appointment, but I cant do it anymore. I have other scheduled appointments that I have to keep, and I cant have my whole day thrown off by any one of them. I feel Ive tried every trick to manage the long wait, including being the first appointment of the day; no luck, but even as the first appointment of the day I would find myself waiting. I even tried assuming the appointment is really 15 minutes after I scheduled it, on one visit I showed up 20 minutes after the start of my scheduled appointment in order to see if that affected my wait time; no luck. The problem is systemic and exists even for drop off services like pet boarding, although the wait time for those services is significant lower. On average, I found that it can take roughly 10 minutes to 15 minutes to have someone come out (after being called) to take the leash and walk the dog back to his crate in the boarding portion of the building. Likely that person was doing something that they couldnt just drop, but why does that need to become my problem? It is clear that there is no [serious] acknowledgement of the problem they have with booking and keeping appointments. I dont think they know how to estimate time per visit, or manage emergencies in a way that minimizes the impact to scheduled appointments. Either they lack the skills or the will do do anything about the problem. For them, they have a good problem, too many customers. But for me, my problem is that life is too short to waste it in a waiting room for a scheduled visit. UPDATE: Heres the best part, they sent me a bill two weeks later for services that they would have rendered, except for the fact that I left, and thus they never rendered them. Taking another star off the review.

Hands down, I would recommend this to anyone. Drive past other vets to get here. While they are usually packed and you can sometimes wait, the staff is always very friendly and open. We usually see Cattiny, but the other staff vet (Simmel?) is also superb. They are thorough, patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. We have an elderly mixed-breed dog with a variety of conditions, requiring several medications and a special diet. There is never an issue getting what we need, when we need it. Above all, they do try to keep costs in mind and will work with you if you express concerns over the financials. They will meet prices from online sources, to assure that you are getting top-quality; they will offer alternates if the primary is not feasible; they are honest about what needs to be done vs what should be done vs what can be done. I dont work for or this this organization,, and have no vested interest in providing a review. I am so consistently impressed and pleased with my interactions at Pompton Lakes Animal Hospital that I wanted to leave good words about them. Pet owners know, sometimes you worry this trip to the vet is the last. Cattiny & crew always reassure you, make sure you are comfortable, and makes sure your pet is comfortable and treated well. They are the only humans on earth that allow our dogs to trim their nails. Go here, stop wasting time and money other places.

Dr George Cattiny is very knowledgeable and caring as well as his staff members. I also adopted my cats and dog from his facility. My cat Neo develop a cyst inside his rib cage, Dr. Cattiny right away took X-rays, blood test and a sample tissue of the cyst to be tested and he told me Neo needed to have surgery to remove the cyst immediately. Neo was schedule right away for surgery. When I went to pick him up at 6:00 p.m. the same day of the surgery, Dr. Cattiny told me the cyst was benign ( Cancer ) and very extensive, he remove as much as he could and we needed to wait for Neo to see if he was going to make it for a second surgery if needed. Neo had a great recuperation after the surgery, a month later Dr. Cattiny examine him and found the cyst had comeback fast and furious. Neo was schedule for his second surgery immediately. Dr.Cattiny was able to remove part of the rib, new tissue and the benign new cyst. Neo was up and running the same day of the surgery, Dr. Cattiny recommend maitake mushroom in form of a chew and once a month visit for check ups. Its been 3 months and Neo is cancer free. I cant thank him enough, he looked at all the alternatives for Neo and make sure I was aware of everything. There is no magic cure with him but definable he knows what hes doing. I highly recommended him to anyone who needs an honest, knowledgeable Veterinarian for all kinds of pets.

Although for the most part I have been very happy bringing my dog, an epileptic golden retriever, and doctor cattiny is a wonderful vet, I was nothing less than appalled by what I experienced last night. My dog was having cluster seizures, which dont typically stop without an injection of valium. I called the office at 5:45 and told the girl the situation and asked if we could bring him in. She responded with an annoyed sigh and told me to hold on. After nearly 10 minutes of holding ( all while my dog was still seizing) I hung up and dialed again only to have them not answer. I feel the situation could have been handled differently. If they were too busy to see an animal in distress ( I know if I had an appointment and an emergency came in I would be understanding of the fact that I would be pushed back a little longer so the emergency could be dealt with) then they should have directed me to go to the emergency vet. However, since we had wasted so much time already we could not waste the extra 35 minutes it would have taken to get to fairfield. We wound up taking him to Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital where they took him in without question and they are now our new vet.

George Cattiny was referred to me by a good friend in the dog sport world. My previous vet moved, but I also required OFA clearance testing for one of my dogs. He was knowledgeable, thorough and went above and beyond in both examining my dog and didnt question my own philosophies that are specific to how I raise them. He performed a comprehensive exam, testing, and vaccination, as well as taking radiographs for hips and elbows. Dr. Cattinys office staff are also professional and work effectively in managing a very busy office and do the best that they can. Even though there was a slight wait, Susan was sensitive to my need to keep my day moving and got me in with the doctor as quickly as possible. Thank you, Susan! The office itself did not smell like dogs. In fact, the practice was not only very clean, but was up-to-date on technology and everything one would expect in a veterinary hospital. I will definitely continue to use George Cattiny for general vet care. His prices were fair, and his knowledge and common sense is priceless. WIll go above and beyond to recommend his practice whenever I am given the chance. Thank you again!
