This review is way over due, but better late than never. About 6 years ago, I brought my kitten in to the awa to have her spayed. Athe the time they were doing a deal for spay in neuter that made my cats surgery only 25 dollars, if I remember correctly. What I great deal! I remember being in the waiting room not long at all. When they called me back to get more information on my cat, that went very quickly. I almost wish it would have been slower. I mean, my very loved cat was getting surgery. I wanted to say good bye, but didnt really get the chance lol. But i guess thats not really a big deal. Her surgery went well, and she recovered fine and healed without any issues. Ive never adopted an animal from there so I cant give my feelings on that. But Ive met a lot of their staff and volunteers through working at petco in turnersville years ago. They were all very friendly and knowledgeable. They seemed very passionate about the animals in their care. Ive been calling their lately to get information about their pit bull fix program, and possibly having my dogs hernia repaired at the same time. Much like other reviews are saying, they didnt answer the phone when I called, but I let a message and they got back to me within 2 days. I missed their call, but they left me a very informative email. I called them back to schedule the appointment and ask more questions, again no answer, but they called back and answered the last of my questions on my voicemail. Ill be calling again to schedule the appointment. Not being able to get to the phone isnt a big deal. People are busy. Im thankful they left all the info I needed on my voicemail.

At first glance they give a good impression. But when we found a dog to adopt that was not available yet (understandable) we were told to "check the site" to know if the dog was available. Any other time we called or came in for info on the dog we were told "im just a volunteer you need to wait for a staff member" or "check the site". We checked every day for 10 days straight. Dogs are not available to be adopted until noon so we made sure we would check the site before noon everyday so we had time to get there. So the day we "checked the site" at 11am and even recieved a courtesy call saying our favorite dog was available we rushed to the shelter! A COURTESY CALL! We were so excited! We got there by 11:45 so we expected to wait until noon but the dog had already been adopted out! .....how you ask? I have no idea. Then we were told the dog was on a 24 hour hold. If they dont pick the dog up by the same time the next day she was ours. We drove back over by 12:30 the next day. The dog was still there. But the "24 hour" rule really means until the end of business the next day. They picked the dog up by 4:45pm the next day and then we recieved another "courtesy call" saying our dog was no longer available. thanks for the disappointment. Of course im upset about losing out on a new member of our family but im also disappointed in the was the staff handled situations and their lack of training across staff members and their lack of consistency on all accounts.

I wanted to leave my review on their vet clinic. We adopted a beautiful kitten from the VAO and they had the AWA look at Bailey( who was once Chloe) The AWA misdiagnosed her with Pectus Excavatum. In there words the worse case they ever seen. I was told Bailey was going to have an extremely short life. Well the AWA was wrong!!! I got xrays to see how severe her condition was, and she didnt have that P.E. In fact , Bailey has had 3 x-rays and not one of them showed up with Pectus Excavatum. Even though, they were completely wrong, I wasnt upset. However, i called the vet clinic, and told them I would like to have her spayed, since Bailey would have been spayed as part of her adoption fee. They didnt spay her because they were wrong with her diagnosis. I was told they will not touch Bailey to go somewhere else. Bailey deserved to have a great start in life, and wasnt given that opportunity, because of the irresponsible vet who misdiagnosed her. They also turned there backs on her, which to me makes them not true animal lovers. I found a clinic who will be spaying her. She has had blood work and everything came out fine. They saw a sick kitten, who they wanted no part of. I would never bring another animal to there clinic. They dont even deserve one star!!!

I came here a couple times looking for a small dog. Everytime I came or looked for a dog, it was already adopted. So I saw a little chihuahua online and went with my aunt. Come to find out he was going home that day. My aunt asked if they have anymore Chihuahuas if they would call us. But no they lady up front (workin August 27 12pm) was real rude and said they "dont reserve animals" umm who said reserve?? All we wanted was to know if and when they got more chihuahuas... BUT its OK for people to put a "24 hour" hold on an animal??? The dog I wanted was online and available.. If he was going home why did they have to wait a whole day??? Why couldnt they take him off the site?? We also came 10 mins early and the lady was ignorant and didnt even wanna talk to us because they didnt "open" till 10 more minutes....I will never step foot in here and ill be sure to tell everyone. These people work with the public and are rude as ever!!!!! Dont come here its not worth the hassle!!!

We went to the clinic with our puppy to get his first shots. Everything went well and we ended up returning the same day because we saw worms in his feces. We dropped off the stool sample (on October 10th) and were told we would hear back in a day with results. On October 11th we received no call so we waited and then called. No answer. We called the following week and were told the vet had to leave for an emergency but still not status update. We kept calling and calling and got nothing. Finally, in the first week of NOVEMBER (3 weeks later) we went there to confront them and they ended up telling us there were no worms and said no news is good news. Absolutely horrible. The dog still has worms as we see them moving in his feces when he goes. STAY AWAY.

Horrible. I went everyday for a dog i loved. They didnt let me put in my app. Just kept saying check the site. I called & never got info just more run around. Finally i see the dog online so i go. Well im 10 min too late at 12:22 because the dog was adopted. Oh, they also said my b.f and son had to be there to meet then do the app. Well funny because the adopters never had a child there but was shown in adoption pic. Also they give dogs away they dont want to who "arent adoptable" to animal orphanage. Ill never go to awa again. They treated me terribly and just gave me the run around. I guess they knew who they wanted for the dog..family friend? Only 2 women there who were nice enough to speak with me in kennels so theyre only reason i gave 1 star.
