I have checked out just about every Veterinary Hospital in Bergen County and personally called at least 60% of them to interview the Vet about various protocols and procedures. I have also "tried out" 7 of them and while they may been okay, with each one of them found a reason to continue to look further. With Dr.Jill I have someone who most definitely puts the health and safety of the pet first. She has never offered me any unnecessary testing just to add to my bill and understands the fact that in some instances I do know my own dogs better than anyone else. Equally as important is the fact that she respects the fact that as someone very involved in Veterinary research I do know about different health protocols and respects the choices I have made. Although I have not yet encountered any health issues particular to my breed that she was not aware of, I have no doubt that she would not hesitate to admit that there was something she was not familiar with. Most recently I had a young dog that I first thought had suffered a stroke because she could not stand at all and when I tried to prop her up she fell limp to the ground. As I watched her I began to believe that it was a serious back, neck or spine injury. When I called for an appointment she called me back to ask me to describe her specific symptoms so that she could have an opportunity to do some research before I got there. When I did I was impressed with her ability to feel where the problem was and did not even suggest the necessity for x-rays. She made some minor adjustments and then prescribed a course of treatment. She kept in touch by phone, gave me her email address in case I had any problems and asked me to come back in 2 days for her to take a look at her (for which there was no charge.) Wouldnt it be wonderful if every pet owner had a Vet they could count on like I do? I am pleased to share this review on as many veterinary review sites as I can find and encourage others to keep looking until they find one for themselves. By the way, I am not someone who often writes reviews and this may be the first positive one I have ever posted. P.S. My dog had a full recovery.

Dr. Shiffman is hands-down, the most skilled and compassionate veterinarian we have ever seen. Our pets are our babies and Dr. Shiffman treats them as if they are her own. She is honest, sincere and shows great integrity in everything she does. Even when our dogs have had ailments that were uncommon or a "mystery", Dr. Shiffman never stopped looking for answers. She will do extensive research and will consult with specialists on her clients behalf, in order to identify a problem. She does not give up. Her honesty is unwavering, and when it is time to make that final, most difficult decision, Dr. Shiffman is with her clients every step of the way, showing a level of compassion that is unparalleled in her field. We travel a significant distance to see Dr. Shiffman, and frankly, we would drive to the ends of the earth to have her to treat dogs. Carol Chapman

I was first introduced to Bergen County Vet Center because my foster (failure), Sebastian, was being treated there by his rescue group. I have since transferred my other dog there as well. The reception area and offices are immaculately maintained and they provide complimentary beverages & snacks while you wait. Every single staff member I have come into contact with there has been wonderful, especially Robyn!! Ive seen both Dr. Shiffman and also Dr. Gess and they are wonderful. They get right down on the floor with your pet and make them feel at ease. I have never felt rushed there or like I am being upsold. Their prices are reasonably as well. I would highly recommend Bergen County Vet Center!

Being one of Dr. Jills first patients we have watched her blossom into one of the most Loving and Caring Veterinarians we have ever met . Now in control of her own destiny with her own practice she should really be able to shine and impart her knowledge and gifts with her new employees and colleagues. We could not recommend her more whole heartily. Her dedication, fair pricing and candid approach to your pets needs are extraordinary comforting in this day and age. The Saddle River Valley is so lucky that Dr. Shiffman has decided to bring her compassion and skills to a Brand New built from the ground up facility in Waldwick New Jersey. Congratulations, Marilyn , Michael and Midnite

The BCVC was recommended to me by my sister and Im so happy I took her advice. My Himalayan Bailey was having breathing problems and even though I was a new client her staff squeezed me in to see Dr. Shiffman. She prescribed medication and Bailey is breathing much better. She also recommended a surgical procedure that could be performed that could very well solve Baileys breathing problems. This made so much sense to me and no other Veterinarian ever even suggested it. Dr. Shiffman had both Bailey and I hooked when she sat on the floor, played with him and offered him a treat. I think Dr. Shiffman and her entire staff are great.

I am very happy to have found such a wonderful caring place to bring my dogs. After a long relationship with a previous vet I needed to find someone new; and I couldn’t be more pleased with Dr. Schiffman and her staff. Dr. Schiffman is delightful and apparently enjoys her profession. I have been bringing my dogs to BCVC for a couple of months and I am totally confident with the care provided. Visits are never rushed and always thorough. Their main priority is the well-being of your pet. The office is run quite efficiently and the staff is always professional, pleasant and friendly. Absolutely a wonderful vet center.

I recently became a client of Bergen County Veterinary Center, and couldnt be more pleased! The staff, doctors and vet techs, are very caring - they spend a lot of time getting acquainted with their patients, and take their time in going over all the medical issues very carefully with you. They carefully went over every vaccination, discussing why my dog did or did not need it - the doctor stated that she does not wish to "over vaccinate" which, to me, shows consideration for the client and the individual circumstances of each dog. The office staff is pleasant and efficient. I highly recommend this practice!

Dr Jill is an excellent Vet - she is especially good with shy animals, getting down on the floor to examine my retired puppy mill breeder rather than making her get on the table which would have been terrifying for the dog. She was able to listen to my concerns and was professional enough to look at the dog in a complete enough way to determine that the dog had other, more pressing medical issues that I knew nothing about. She is an excellent diagnostician and was honest and compassionate about sharing the information I needed to best care for my dog. Highly Recommend.
