When I found out that my gerbil had a tumor in her scent gland, I was referred to Dr.Nelson at Skyland, by Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, and I cant even explain how amazing she and the whole staff were throughout the process of healing my baby. Dr. Nelson did the surgery, removing my gerbils tumor and scent gland for a price $200+ less than other animal hospitals wouldve charged (I called around before being referred there). Beyond that, when Mia got out of her bandage and I panicked, the staff were always so kind and empathetic to me and Mia. My anxiety really started to affect me and they started watching her for me while I went to college every day, even when Dr. Nelson wasnt working, which took a major stress load off. What should have been a two week recovery, turned into a two+ month recovery (my girl is feisty), and Dr. Nelson and the staff at Skyland helped me and Mia through it the whole way, including eventually getting a little cone for Mia (like a dog cone, but for a gerbil!). There was even a male doctor that re-bandaged Mia on a day when Dr. Nelson wasnt working. Once Mia had the cone on, we had to smash up her food, add water to it, and hand-feed in to her in a little bowl (gerbils eat with their hands and she couldnt get her hands to her face). Dr. Nelson was the one who came up with this way to feed her. :) And the staff would feed her while I was at school, several times a day. Overall, I cant recommend this animal hospital enough. They did all of that for me and so much more, and their level of care and commitment is incredible. They are all truly kind and wonderful people.

Wow, what a seriously wonderful veterinary experience. I am always a little hesitant and wary when I first go to a new vet, having had a number of truly negative experiences in the past. But Skyland is seriously good, everyone there is so nice and they really care about the animals. Ive had a really hard time finding somewhere to take my three pet rats, but I know where Ill be going from now on. 5 stars, no exaggeration, absolutely love it, they know their stuff. ---- Update: Yep, still amazing. Cant believe I ever went anywhere else. Skyland is hands down the greatest, I feel like they care about my animal babies as much as I do, which is the most reassuring feeling in the world.

They "removed" a tumor on my dog and I was very displeased. They also told me the highest price it could be to remove the tumor before surgery which was fine, but somehow managed to charge me way more over that budget AFTER THE SURGERY. The front staff is great but the vet doesnt know what shes doing. There is a huge scar that is very bumpy and pointy, they didnt remove the stitches properly and I had to pull some stitches out at home. I will never go here again. UPDATE: They decided (with out telling me) for no one to handle my sweet dog without sedation. Which is EXTREMELY unacceptable. They are horrible people and dont treat animals humanely at all!

We moved here in February and in March had to put our 14 year old cat down. The entire team was so very thoughtful and helpful. They even made a casting of our dear cats paws for us. Moving forward to July we have two kittens two months old that we got from Brother Wolfe. You would think this amazing team had never seen a kitten. Not only do they love our kittens but they are knowledgable and patient. We are smitten with our kittens and the Skyland Animal Hospital team. If you need a vet and want excellent and loving care call Skyland Animal Hospital.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. This place cares about our dog. When we first came to Skyland, I was impressed by their friendliness. The doctor even squatted on the floor to help our dog feel more comfortable. They gave her an excellent physical, which no vet had ever done for her before. They have really good people-skills here, which is nice too. We had to take our dog to the emergency vet a few days ago. And what does Skyland do? They call to check on our dog as soon as they hear. Skyland seems very well-organized and well-run.

We took our pet rat in to be neutered yesterday here. The office was clean and organized. The staff was friendly, gentle, loving and goofy (which i love lol). The vet was smart and gentle. The surgery itself went extremely well and so far he is healing well too. But one of the high points of this was not only did we get amazing service, but his bill was way worth it and more. It is the best and best priced vet for rats weve ever been to or heard of. Well be going back every time for any future visits/surgeries!!! :)

I cant say enough good things about the entire staff here. Our dogs were fearful of the vet before we moved to Asheville, and the staff at Skyland were kind, patient, and super helpful. Now my dogs love coming in to see everyone. A complete change in my dogs. I am very pleased with Dr. Nelson, shes amazing, and the entire staff is fun and wonderful. Ive moved just outside of Asheville and still drive my dogs in to Skyland. Id give them more stars if I could!

The entire staff goes above an beyond to see that each customer and their animals are taken care of to the absolute best of their abilities. They are a compassionate group of care givers who truly love their jobs and the animals they help every day. I recommend the fully and hope new clients will bring in their loved ones for the best care in WNC!!

My cat and I were treated very well! It was our first time at this vet clinic and they did everything to make us comfortable including putting us in a separate room away from all the barking dogs in the waiting room. I am waiting to hear from the doctor (she should call tomorrow, she said) to hear how my cats testing came out. I would highly recommend this clinic to other animal parents!!

Could not be happier very friendly staff. Im in Ashville with work and they were able to see my dog on a Saturday morning without an appointment I feel like he was given exceptional treatment and at what feels like half the cost of my usual vet in Charlotte. Even though there were other patients it was still quick and I cant stress enough how friendly everyone was.

Our old sweet dog Stella has suddenly become ill with a chronic condition. Dr. Warner has been so kind and concerned for our lovely Stella. She has returned my call countless times and always been patient and helpful. I highly recommend this practice. The whole team at Skyland have been professional and caring.

The team at Skyland Animal Hospital was fantastic. We are new to the area and my dog was due for his vaccinations. The vet and her staff were friendly to both me and my pet. They were thorough in their examination and the facility is clean and welcoming. I wouldnt hesitate to take your pet there.

My dogs and I were clients of Skyland for many years; when Dr. Steve (Freeman) retired I was so afraid of what we would get; Great surprise!! Dr. Nelson is as good as it gets. We (my dogs and I)will remain clients at Skyland forever. Dr. Nelson is an excellent surgeon.
