By far the worst veterinary experience I have ever had. I brought my 2-year-old dog in because of seasonal allergies since he had already chewed up his legs pretty bad. He was incredibly itchy and agitated because of the discomfort involved. I was told that the doctor could not perform a preliminary exam because my dog would not sit still - and when I offered to stay with my dog and keep him calm they said that is not allowed at Banfield. The only thing that they could do to even start the exam was to put him to sleep - which they didnt have time for. So, I was charged for a full exam and a bullshit prescription for Xanax and by the next day my dog was bloody and having trouble breathing. A problem that could have been solved had we simply taken him to a better hospital. The next morning, I rushed him to Animal Hospital of North Asheville (by far the best I have seen, anywhere) and they had a doctor LEAVE AN EXAM just to make sure my dog didnt need immediate help. After he was evaluated, literally in the doorway, they made me an appointment for later that day and by that night my dog was feeling much better thanks to the medication and friendly service we received. Dr. Paul Duncan was awesome! Price Banfield has some "comprehensive" plans that are at a great price. If you are looking for a cheap place to bring your dog, regardless of service - this place may be for you. Staff The staff have always been friendly (we only visited twice) - but do not expect them to remember your dog, or track his problems with any consistency. They do keep records, obviously, but with the sheer volume of pets they see it is hard to receive the personal touch that some pets require. Overall Cheap, but absolutely useless for what our dog needs. Seasonal allergies and hot spots seemed too much for this place to properly handle. And if your dog is agitated or nervous, expect to have it put to sleep in order for an evaluation to take place. We were charged for an exam, but still had to take him to a different hospital the next day because of how useless it was.

My dog has had a Banfield Wellness plan since she was 8 weeks old, she is now 12 years old. Weve used several Banfield location, including this one. We no longer live in the area, so when we needed to get a prescription filled at Bleachery, we were annoyed to have to come in for a visit first (but we did). Fast forward to today (Saturday). We were in town visiting again...I called about filling the same prescription we had filled in April. I was told AGAIN we had to come in for a check up and that the vet that prescribed the meds would have to write another prescription...she wouldnt be in until Thursday. Mind you the vet never wrote the prescription, it was from my dogs specialist as she has cancer. I told them that, but they still wouldnt see my dog until Thursday when that vet came in. The meds are literally to help with her breath (she has oral cancer with less than 6 months to live) and they wouldnt fill the prescription (which I brought in the prescription on my previous visit from the specialist). I called my home vet, since we were heading out (it was easier to get it in Asheville, but...) they filled the prescription by pulling up our records without issue, and one of our friends picked it up for us. Thanks for making things more difficult than they have to be...12 year customer of Banfield and you guys are the worst!

I used the Banfield in Asheville because my dog kept having loose stools. They wanted to run a lot of test and some other things for hydration because she was "slightly" dehydrated. The bill kept going up. So I took out the Wellness plan for her. They said it was pancriatic. All it was, WORMS. After me telling them numerous time I had seen one in her BM. They kept telling me she had been vomiting but she hadnt. I got what she needed to get rid of the worms and she is back to normal but it cost a lot for just worms. Now I have the Wellness that I will hardly use. I took her back for a follow up and I ended up spending money I didnt have because it wasnt covered under the plan. I was thinking about getting her teeth cleaned but I know if I do, I will end up paying for something she probably doesnt need or I cant afford because it isnt under the plan. When the year is up I am canceling the plan. If they dont cancel it..I can and will. Its not worth having!! Get pet insurance, at least most procedures are covered and you get your money back once you turn it in.

My boyfriend and I are very disappointed with this vet. Our 11 week old puppy got worms. We were both a little freaked out because we had never experienced this with our 4 year old dog. I have a wellness plan for my 4 year old but not for the puppy. We called the banfeild on Bleachery Blvd. as well as the one on McKenna Rd. The difference in service was night and day. We knew exactly what kind of worms they were and the one on Bleachery told us we MUST bring her in, which was going to cost us $100-$200 all around. The one on McKenna told us that this is very common in very young puppies, not to worry and come get the meds and it will go away within 5-7 days. If they were still there after, then bring her in. Which the meds were only $8. We expressed to both places that we did not want to bring her into a pet smart or vet because she is just simply too young to be exposed to the germs in the place. All in all the problem was solved for only $8. Go to the one on McKenna NOT the one near Walmart they could care less about your pet or you. Their only concern is the money.

I signed up for a wellness plan for my cat who I brought in with a urinary issue. Two days later, we were faced with a choice of a $3000+ surgery or euthanasia. Perhaps we would have faced that choice anyway, but I feel very certain that this was mostly because of the extreme ineptitude of the staff. One vet told me one thing, the next day another vet told me something else, and again on the final day I was told a different thing about what to do. On top of that, I had to pay IN FULL for the wellness plan that my cat was on for two days, because Banfield as a company is TERRIBLE! I spent an hour on the phone with them and as if loosing my precious kitty werent enough, they couldnt even give me a discount or allow me to put my other cat on the plan to use the parts of the plan we did not have time to use. Do not go to this pet hospital and if you do please do not sign up for the Wellness Plan!!!

This is the worst vet you could choose ! I have taken my three dogs and cat here for five years. Most of my animals are easy with no concerns but my now oldest is 12 and she has had liver troubles that make her under weight along with a couple of other things. Every time I bring her (or any of them in) it is someone new and they NEVER go over her chart to see her history. I have spent nearly $10,000 on her and trying to find the cause of this problem and it is still new to them EVERY visit. This is the Last time I hear "your dog should gain weight" from their staff as if Im going to say "oh I never noticed!!!". This is where the D+ students go to work, the ones who barely passed the tests. If you love your pet, dont put them through this sort of factory style service.
