If only there were an option for less than one star.... I found this place through my insurances website for vision providers. I called to make sure they took my insurance and they said they did. The appointment was for my 10 year old son and they told me they were experienced with children. Really? What kind of experience? Because the doctor was absolutely AWFUL. He seemed really annoyed by my sons questions and was overall short and very cold natured. Then, he dilated my sons eyes (who had never had it done before) WITHOUT asking parental permission OR warning him that it would burn...he did it very quickly and without saying what he was doing, so there was no chance to protest or ask questions or anything. then he just walked out of the room while my son was upset and his eyes were burning. Most places require parental consent to dilate a childs eyes- apparently not this place... Im not sure of the laws on this but I will most definitely be looking into it! How dare they have the audacity to work with children! I dont know if theyre better with adults, but I doubt it. Then, when it came time to pay, there was some confusion because they dont take our insurances vision plan.. ONLY the medical plan- luckily, medical covers pediatric eye exams, but on the phone they didnt differentiate- and this was *before* I told them it was for a child... so if myself or my husband had made an appointment for ourselves, we would have been stuck paying out of pocket. Seriously.. are you kidding me with this place?! NEVER again and I will leave bad reviews everywhere I can!

My experience with Dr. Stewart has unfortunately been a strained one. At first he did a good job of helping me with a simple eye exam and scheduled me for a repeat appointment at one year. His secretary called one week prior to confirm, I asked that they cancel it as I was to be out of the country at the time. Shortly thereafter I received a bill in the mail for a missed appointment with more recent threats to send me to a collection agency over the $25 fee the have levied on me. Attempts to contact have been met by a secretary who has made it clear to me that my concerns are not a high priority to her. The service they provided for my eyes was fine, but the service they have provided since has been unacceptable in my book. I wont be going back.

Although the receptionist took a photocopy of my insurance card, I obviously failed to read my card to her and say, "the card says to mail VISION claims to THIS address"!! The claim was filed under my Medical insurance instead of my Vision insurance and Dr. Stewarts office has a ridiculous policy to never re-file a claim if it is in the previous year. Blue Cross appeal process was of no help either as they took the Providers side. I ended up paying over $500 out-of-pocket. Best yet, turns out I didnt even need new glasses. My prescription HAD NOT CHANGED and I was not told until I picked up my glasses and noticed no difference once I put them on. Bad experience all around!!

I found Academy Eye Center off of google for my son who is in a major need to be seen. I told them he had medicaid, no mention of that they didnt take that certain insurance. I wait two weeks for the appointment, just to get there (after taking a whole day off from work) with my two young sons (2&3 yrs old), filled out paperwork, went up to the front just to have them tell me "oh, we dont take medicaid." Hm- seems like whoever scheduled the appointment didnt bother telling me this. This was a month ago and Im still trying to get my son seen by any other place but here. The soonest appt I can find is in June. DO NOT GO HERE!

I went Academy Eye Associate on a referral from a friend. Everyone was really polite and professional. I did not feel rushed; they took the time to go over every procedure even though is was far from being my first eye exam...all that was missing was lollipop at the end. I recommended this place to parents and brother, and anyone one else looking for a place for their next eye exam.

My experience hasnt been that bad... Nothing exceptional, but the place is close to where I work and I can always get an appointment at a good time. Theres usually a wait on the day of the appointment, but they arent cranky if I get there late.

Ive been coming here since I was 10 years old and have had a good experience every time. The receptionists know me by name and are always helpful/very personable. Dr Stewart is great, too.
