Horrible... to the point of being comically bad. After driving 4 hours to an appointment that was schedule nearly a month in advance, I was informed that the staff had failed to schedule the necessary nurses to be able to complete my procedure, so I would have to reschedule, which I did. Upon arrival at the rescheduled appointment, I was seen by a nurse that was woefully unprepared and clueless as to the proper procedure necessary to prep me for my PDT laser operation. She nearly miscalculated the dosage of intravenous drugs I was to be administered (thankfully another nurse caught her mistake), was literally reading directions in front of me as if she had never done anything like this before, stuttered and stammered around any questions I asked, and was incapable of using the IV pump to administer the necessary drugs. Additionally, the laser that was actually going to be used for the procedure was nearly broken and required "jiggling" the on/off switch to keep the unit powered on! After seeing all this, I asked them to remove the IV (prior to any drugs going in, since they couldnt get the pump to work) and I simply walked out. Additionally, the staff did nothing whatsoever to prepare me for the procedure. When I asked directly what was involved, I was told "ehh, we just shine a laser in there for 45 seconds and youre good to go". What they failed to mention until I was already in the door for the procedure is that my skin would be INCREDIBLY light sensitive for 2 days. To the point that I would need to wear long sleeves, gloves, a hat, wrap around sun glasses, and have someone else drive me while I sat in the back seat of a car. Additionally, even halogen light bulbs were dangerous! Obviously this affects my ability to work and function normally, much less drive myself home after the procedure, but not a bit of this was conveyed to me prior to the visit.

Dr Keith Wallace did my 11 year old daughters 3rd eye surgery for strabismus and we couldnt be happier with the job that he did and the results. My daughter went from being a very shy, self conscious little girl who hated to have her picture taken and sometimes wouldnt even look strangers in the eye to after surgery shes starting to gain some confidence, shell look at people when she talks to them and she doesnt get mad or try to run away when I try to take a pic of her and sometimes shell even take selfies herself. To see my baby girl not feeling so bad about herself has made me a lot happier as well because noone wants to see their kids feel bad about themselves and when she was younger some kids were mean and would make fun of her so Dr Wallace changed her life. And noone can say well any eye doctor couldve done that because the doctor who did her first surgery messed her eyes up by leaving undissolvable stitches in her eyes for 2 years and he told us that they would dissolve and it was the 2nd doctor that did her surgery that had to take a long time to fix the scar tissue. He also explained things very well and he talked to her directly and made sure she didnt have any questions which I felt like that was just amazing to not just treat her like she wasnt there and took the time to let her know that he cared about her and wanting to make sure she didnt have any questions. I think Diedre was the only one I talked to on the phone but she was great too, always friendly and understanding if I had questions or needed to reschedule. As far as checking in and out, the staff were always very friendly and helpful and the wait time from checking in and out was always pretty fast. Im very pleased with Dr Wallace and his staff.

Pediatric eye center. Well lets just say that the doctors and nurses are wonderful. However the wait time for a standard eye exam to see if my daughter needs glasses is crazy. I was not prepared to be waiting here for 2 to 4 hours. None of that was mentioned before hand that Id be here this long! I dont see why it should take this freaking long! I have already been to their "child friendly"(if you want to call it that, adult talk shows on tv, not cartoons as it should be and one little bead toy that aint big enough for 2 kids to play at) waiting room 3 freaking times. It did not take this long at my sons first appointment at his eye doctor in Creedmoor. I am livid. Mt daughter who is five is starving and I cant even go get her anything because they dont alow food back here. But said if we miss being called that we will need to reschedule a whole new appointment. My kid is screaming she is hungry and you gonna tell me no food and Im gonna need to make another appointment after waiting 2 and a half hours already. Yeah bullshit. Not happy with the Duke Pediatric Eye Center so far.......

Great eye care. Several years ago I had an accident and should have lost the sight in my right eye, they were able to repair the damage to near normal. Now I am returning to have surgery on my left eye to repair a detached retina in my left eye that Ive had problems with since my early youth 35+ years ago. Numerous surgeries on that eye from other surgeons, now Im back at the best place where I should have gone to start with, live and learn. If they fix or improve the sight in that eye Ill be impressed, Ive written that eye sight off years ago.

Duke is a great place for all healthcare needs. Dont get me wrong. However, the wait times are HORRIBLE. For every LASIK follow up appointment that I had, I waited at least an hour from start to finish. My physical time with a tech and physician lasted less than 10 minutes. One time my appointment was at 3:00pm, but I did not finish until 5:30pm. Even in the new building, the wait times are very long, especially in the afternoon. Im not aware of how the mornings are. Just be prepared for long wait times for a simple appointment.

Scheduling appointments is very tough. The people in the scheduling office dont really seem to have a clue whats going on. The level of care once seen is good, but getting an appointment to see the doctor at a reasonable time is like pulling teeth. I had an appointment schedule for January that I made in september, only to find out I had been sent to the wrong doctor who could not even help me. I then wasted a day off work, and had to reschedule.

i arrived early since it is my first visit and I wasnt sure if i needed to complete paperwork. My appointment was for 2:30 it is now 4pm and I have yet to see a doctor. It does not take 1.5 hours to dilate pupils. Urrrrgggghhhh I am so irritated right now...update it has now been two full hours of waiting.
