I scheduled a physical with this practice in hopes of establishing a family physician in the Matthews area. Upon seeing the doctor, I was told that a clerical error was made and a physical was not recorded as I had requested, but a sick visit instead. I explained that a physical was what I needed and was assured by Dr. Freidman that there would be no problem. I explained to the doctor that I did not want any test or blood work performed that was not covered by my physical and was assured there would be no problem. After being rushed through the exam and sent over to have my blood drawn like I was in a factory, I was on my way feeling very dissatisfied and somewhat mystified about what I had just been through... Needless to say I received a bill from their lab and office for around $500 after they had recorded the visit as a "sick visit" instead of a physical after I was very specific about my intent after the mix-up upon entering their office. The front end staff tried to ridicule me for even trying to appeal the charge and were very demeaning. Luckily my wife is a nurse and contacted higher level management from Novant to complain and explain the case. We were partially reimbursed, but I will never step foot in this office again and have a very poor taste for Novant Healthcare as a result.

I have tried several times going here and have come out unhappy EVERYTIME. The staff up front is beyond horrible. They are so rude. My husband sees dr freeman and he is pleased with him. I have seen all but freeman bc he is never available when I needed him. When I walk into a dr, I expect for them find out what is wrong. If that means taking blood tests, urine tests, whatever, it should be done. I went today and saw Blount and was unpleased that he gives me a prescription of amoxillion for a sinus infection he 'thinks' I may have. After 6 days of fever, aches, chills, clogged up, etc, there's more to it than that (he even said so!!!). So why not run tests to see what's wrong? Lazy? Maybe. Who knows.? I also asked for a shot of penicillin vs taking the amoxillion for 10 days hoping for faster relief but he had already wrote the prescription before talking to me (rude) and then when I ask for a shot he straight up says no because of all the side effects. Seriously, any amount of side effects I can handle after dealing with this battle. Anyways, I would never refer anyone to MFP unless you see freeman and can deal with the rude people up front.

I have been a patient of Dr. Blount for 30 years. I have seen him in several different offices but for years now in Matthews. He is thoughtful, a good listener, proactive but does not overreact. He gently recommends behavior modification when appropriate rather than invasive or drug treatment. He treats several of my family members and has guided one parent and two grandparents through their last days. He "wrote the book" on family practice.

I was scheduled for a first visit and although it is customary to wait a few minutes. I waited 1.5 hours and when I questioned this they told me that they had taken a patient who came in late for their appointment. Not sure why that should affect me. No apology, just deal with it. Hey we have a life too. If I ever treated a potential client like that I would never see them again, and they wont see me again!

I called at 8 when they opened today, got an appointment scheduled same day for 11. Signed in at 10:40, got called back at 10:50 (before my appointment time!!!). The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and professional. Dr. Goodman had me in and out of there in no time. This was probably the best doc office experience Ive had simply because there was hardly any wait time. Thanks!!

I highly recommend Dr. Baker at Matthews Family Physicians if you are searching for a Family Physician. Dr. Baker is very passionate about her patients and treats you with genuine care. The entire staff in the front office is extremely professional and very caring. It is amazing how everyone remembers me when I return. Thank you all for such wonderful care for myself and my family.

Went in with Arrhythmia - Insurance had a clerical error...person who helped me was no help at all. Didnt give me any options and basically said if I left no one else would see me due to insurance issue. I cleared up the issue in minutes...I have been a patient of Dr Maugal for over 13 years...I will never go back. Staff is heartless.

My family has been seeing Dr. Maugel for about 6 years. The doctors and medical assistants very capable and normally I would recommend them to anyone. The problem is the office staff. They are rude, unhelpful, and very unprofessional. I have brought my concerns to Dr. Maugel, but it seems no one truly cares.

Very disappointed in my doctor visit! Impersonal doctor who didnt take more than a couple minutes doing his job and rushed the checkup and downplayed my concerns. Then had to spend months dealing with Novant to clarify the ridiculous bill for bad service!

They have two doctors there that have bad ethics,they force patients that cant afford the test to have them to get there pills.these to male doctors should be fired and not work in this field.Dr. Malone should lose his license for unethical conduct

New patient visit ended up costing us $300 out of pocket due to the way they coded it. Staff not willing to work with either us or insurance. I get that the system sucks, but recommend that other prospective clients choose elsewhere.

Every time I come here it takes forever. They always say get there 15 minutes early. I cant figure out why. It normally takes an hour after my scheduled time to even get out of the waiting room. Its like they dont realize people work.

Matthews Family Physicians can usually see me on short notice. Im not usually kept in the waiting room for long, and the staff is caring and competent. I can recommend both Dr Stacy Baker and Dr. David Becker.

"Wow" is all I can say. Medical staff is awesome and beyond professional. Dr Friedman is great. Front-end office staff, however, is incredibly rude and unprofessional...so much so that I wont go back.

This is my last visit with that doctors office. They arent the friendly and everyone acts like they have a chip on their shoulders. Im more than happy to take my insurance somewhere else!!
