Our 5 year old son was diagnosed with several cavities. Raleigh Pediatric Dentistry recommended a single general anesthesia session at a major hospital versus three in-house sessions using local anesthetic. Given our insurance this was a 10K more costly option for us. On his prior visits (and leading into this discussion) they said he was a good patient. We pressed them on why we couldn’t try at least one session with a local anesthetic to fix one cavity; if it worked we would proceed with the next sessions; if he was not able to stay calm in the initial steps of the procedure we would stop, bare the cost of this session and then do the general anesthesia. In the room Dr. Betsy said that this was reasonable but she wanted to talk with Dr. David. Upon returning she said that our kid was too much of a risk to stay calm and Dr. David would not do three sessions on a single case – our only option was general anesthesia. We got a second opinion from Wake Forest Pediatric Dentistry. The general exam went as expected; high-marks for our son from a calmness/behavior standpoint and Dr. Buddy scheduled 4 sessions. We were done in 3 sessions, my son was not traumatized, Dr. Buddy was not traumatized – they told him he was patient of the month for his behavior. We saved thousands of dollars and didn’t put our son through a higher cost / higher risk procedure. We asked our son if he’d like to go back to his old dentist/dentist office and he said “no”. Raleigh Pediatric Dentistry appeared to be a little lazy – preferring the method that was easiest for them. As I’ve read and Dr. Buddy displayed – it’s sometimes about how well you work with young kids.

I have taken my daughter there 3 times. The doctors were all nice enough and the hygenists were as well. Too bad for them that they have ridiclous business practices! The last appointment we went to was at the end of March and I paid what they wanted when we got there, before she saw the dentist. I have dental insurance and the girl at the desk told me what I needed to pay, and she also told me I had a credit because I had over paid them the last time I was there. Sometime in June, they sent me a bill for fifteen bucks. Okay well no big deal right I can pay that when we go in for our next appointment, or so I assumed. Especially since I had a credit at the last appointment and it wasnt a big deal to them to send me my money back. August 10th, I got a call from some woman over there and she informed me that in the 4 months since I had been there the fifteen dollars had turned into twenty eight and some change.... They have a different billing interest than any other doctor... how in the heck did it go from 15 to 28 dollars and where is my interest on the over payment that they kept from me???? so needless to say I cancelled my daughters next appointment, which is when i was going to pay whatever outstanding balance and I am now looking for a new pediatric dentist that wont charge me one thing when Im there and then send me a bill with interest 4 months later. THIS IS WHAT THE REST OF AMERICA CALLS BAD BUSINESS!!!

FANTASTIC Dr Dave!! Unfortunately you have to deal with the front office at every visit. I always book my kids appointments 6 months in advance so that I can work it around our very busy schedules. After my last visit they said that I now must have every other appt scheduled in the am. I was not informed of this until it was time to schedule... I told them that would be fine- after my next visit I would start the every other am. They were COMPLETELY against giving me one last pm appt. I do not find this fair. If someone else waits until the last minute to schedule their appt then let them have to do the morning. I am a preschool teacher, if I am not at work I do not get paid. I cannot lose a days pay for my 2 children to get their teeth cleaned. I have taken my records and chosen another pediatric practice.

My two kids (4 and 8 now) have been going to Dr. Dave since they were each 2. I have never seen children so happy and excited to go to the dentist! They make it like playtime, with choices for everything from what color glasses to wear to what to pick out of the treasure box after. In addition, the doctors and staff are kind, friendly, and careful with my kids. My oldest has had a couple of procedures, and each time, they were as painless for him as possible and he was comfortable and cared for. Seriously, their last appt was postponed due to snow, and the kids were as disappointed as if Id told them we couldnt go to a park to play. I recommend Dr. Dave and this practice to everyone I know.

I have 4 boys, and we have been seeing to Dr. Dave for 10 years. At no point in that time was I ever less than impressed... Dr. Dave is just the best ever. He always greets us with a smile, asking about soccer games and vacations. He makes the boys feel very comfortable, and is endlessly patient. My oldest just had SEVEN teeth extracted at the recommendation of orthodontists, and was SO nervous about it. Dr. Dave put him at ease, talked him through it, and was all-around fantastic. (I also contacted another dentist to compare prices, and Dr. Dave was less expensive). The hygienists and front desk staff are also friendly and so nice. I recommend!!!

My kids LOVE Dr. Dave and staff. My little guy had a one hour appointment with Dr. Dave today. It was kind of a big deal for a little guy but Dave and his staff made everything so pleasant. When one of my children has an appointment and the other doesnt they are actually upset! This is how much they love the dentist. What more can you ask for? Dr. David Olson is a wonderful pediatric dentist and a very caring person. I highly recommend Raleigh Pediatric Dentistry and Dr. Olson.

We have been coming to Dr. Dave since he started the practice 10 years ago. We love him and Dr. Betsy. He makes kids comfortable and keeps them from being scared. He did great work on a cap my daughter had to get and a filling my son had to get. Another dentist diagnosed those problems, yet refused to do the work for various reasons. Dr. Dave did a wonderful job. I recommend the practice highly. I have never had a problem with the front desk either. Very professional.

CROWNS----> Do NOT take your child here to Dr. David "Dave" Olson to have DENTAL CROWNS placed!! My daughter just had crowns placed on the top four front teeth and they look like HILLBILLY TEETH- these four top front teeth PROTRUDE and are CROOKED!!!!!! I am VERY UPSET about the quality of Dr. Olsons dental work. DO NOT LET DR. OLSON PERFORM SURGERY TO PLACE DENTAL CROWNS ON YOUR CHILDS TEETH!!!!

We have been going to see Dr Betsy for four years now and it is always a positive experience. Never a wait, great hygienists who are so sweet with the kids. Clean and colorful offices. My daughter has had several cavities filled and they put her at ease, distract her with a movie and the whole process is quick and painless.
