There are 7 vertebrae in the cervical spine. The cervical spine that attaches to the brain stem is C1. As they move south or in the direction of an imaginary bra line, they increase to the number 7. Then the thoracic spine area begins. The lumbar area of the spine is next. It is important to understand that little data before we explain. I was to have a surgery to correct a ruptured disc in the lumbar area prior; however the state the surgery was to be done in was a significant distance west via plane, etc. I had heard of Mayfield and based on their proximity contacted them. Data was taken by phone and testing done. When the doctor was changed prior to the appointment we called and talked to a polite person and to clarify prior to the trip were transferred to the neurosurgeons nurse. During the conversation, it was asked with regard to the cervical spine if it attached to the brain stem at C1 or a greater number? She finally stated C1. We then asked when moving southward towards a bra line, what number does the C increase to before changing to the thoracic area? No matter how we asked it she continued to be very rude saying the cervical is not at the bra line. After her continued unprofessionalism, we stated to her to please forget about the imaginary bra line. Let us starts at C1. We were trying to count the vertebra. What is the highest number of vertebrae in the cervical spine moving south with south being in the direction of the floor when in a standing position as best as I can do? No matter how asked the number 7 never came only the abusive rudeness. The person next to me shaking their head. Saying how else can you ask this question? Hang up on her and we can look it up on the computer. We could not though because she was the one that had to set the appointment with the correct doctor before making a 4 hour painful trip. Later today, the same nurse from Mayfield called and stated she talked to the doctor regarding our conversation with her a week or so ago in detail. She stated the doctor declined to do surgery. We started to ask why; but decided that she would be verbally abusive again because she could. We think that she also purposely waited until a day of a birthday celebration to strike like a cobra. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! We have yet to meet the doctor; but If someone like her is in the surgery area with even the best doctor, it could be very dangerous. Dont waste your time with Mayfield.

I was very disappointed in the Mayfield group! It took my husband 8 months to get to see Dr, Gridner. He was the most rudest and uncaring doctor we have ever meet. He said there was nothing they could do for my husband. He has a herinated disc and two bugling disc. This doctor must of been on something cuz he told my husband who is not on pain medicines. That he needed to be on subutex. I ask him isnt that what the put people on to get off heroin? He rudely yelled at me and said I don;t know everything! My husband cried and said I dont want to be on pain medicine. He told my husband to shut up! They did nothing for us. The doctor said it was due to my husband triple A. Dr. Gridner told us he would call our family doctor for his pain management and the vascular surgeon for his trip[e A. It was been over a week and the doctor hasnt call any of his doctors. This doctor had a super big chip on his shoulders. when we was getting ready to leave, he said to my husband. You know that doctor who operated on your back !st. Yes, the one who operated on my upper back. When I thought he was to operated on my lower back. Dr gridner well he died in his sleep Feb 17 2016. Well his daughter found him dead. Like it was my husbands fault! If Dr. Mayfield would be flipping out, if he know how they treated people. Dr. Mayfield was the best ever. Its a shame for such a great doctor like Dr. Mayfield. To have his name associated with these doctors. I use to tell people how great they were. I will never say that again. I now tell people to stay way from them. The letter they sent out. Telling us about Dr. Gridner. The picture of on the letter looks like it was taken when he finsihed med school. what a waste out our time and money!

This place has by far been the biggest waste of My time. Almost every one from the first call has been rude, disrespectful, and just non caring. I had my first appointment with them and Dr. Bohinski on 11/03/2014 and Dr. Bohinski walked into the room with a chip on his shoulder and in a rough tone of voice ask "What are you doing here?" I told him I was here for my chiari and he says I told you I cant do anything for your lower back. totally ignoring why I was there. I got him to realize I was not there for my lower back and he says " yes you have chiari and it is very minimal and will not cause you any problems I cant help you" he has yet to do any exam so I ask him about the report saying absent flow and got a confused look on his face and says" you have flow I cant help you I fix mechanical problems" after a few more minutes of discussion he says "look we are not going to spend and hour talking about this" at that point we left his office. 45 minutes latter Dr. Bohinski himself called me and says " if you will come back I will review everything" I guess he did not have time prior or during my appointment. Mayfield then called me for 2 days trying to get me to come back and they set up an appointment with Dr. Ringer who dismissed everything I had to say the only difference between him and Dr. Bohinski is at least he had good bedside manor. over all I am very disappoint with Mayfield and would not and will not recommend them to any one ever....

I am under the impression that Mayfield has some of the best docs in the business -- and I have benefited from one of them. However, recent experience suggests their philosophy around customer care seems wanting. My most recent doctor came across as indifferent, inattentive, not at all curious or probing in his questions. On a return visit, I had to remind him of what tests had been done. He clearly had never looked at the exhaustive patient information sheets you are required to fill out where I had some other health issues that could have been factors. I had to correct him twice on the location of the pain. He suggested I go to a podiatrist for the numbness in my foot even though I told him several times that the numbness was coincident with severe localized back pain. I walked out feeling like it was a waste of several thousand dollars out of my pocket. CEI, by contrast, is equally if not more efficient in their patient routing and process, but you feel you are in good hands in every step.
