I came here with my service dog last week. They accepted him with open arms and everyone loved him. They made sure meds were taken at the same time every day and seemed to get everything right with me. There were many groups each day to go to that were simple and not very long, which I like because Im agoraphobic and get overwhelmed easily. I felt much better after spending a week here. But thats where the positives end. The staff is absolutely atrocious. A lot of people who may be from a country that isnt a big fan of dogs were obnoxious around my service dog. Sneaking around him, staring at him, screaming at the sight of him, and even running from him! It made him very nervous and annoyed me to no end especially when I was walking up to them to ask a question. Many of them even said horrible things like "in my country we just KILL them. Id kill him if he came in to my property" (which I informed him was illegal) or "in my country we eat them". They looked at him like he was garbage which made me as a handler uncomfortable. The patients LOVED him though. He seemed to be great therapy for them. I only got to see the doctor ONCE that entire week. You will not receive any individual therapy. The psychiatrist will come by once or twice a week to ask some generic questions for about 6-7 minutes. The social worker I was paired with was robotic and did NOT care what happened to me at all. She did not show any sympathy about my concerns and she would not work with me on a personal level. I was just a number. The nurses and aids treat you like you are inferior or mentally retarded. Im sorry if that offends anyone but thats the only way I can explain it. Youre ignored, NEVER taken seriously, and they act like theyre SO annoyed with you. Like, why do you even work here??! Really! A staff member who had to stay in close proximity to a patient was especially obnoxious. She was rude to the patient, gave her dirty looks, and even got up and walked away from her while the patient was telling her a story. It broke my heart to see someone treated that way! Not only that, but 5 of us were watching TV and she started complaining about the channel so she just got up and changed it. Like EXCUSE ME DONT YOU HAVE WORK TO DO. I gave her a look and she threatened me. Totally unacceptable. The next day, she gets in a physical altercation with a patient who was upset that she was pushed. Then, when I was panicking and wanting to go home the day I was told I could, they LAUGHED at me and ignored me. I felt so trapped and alone. So yeah, the staff is terrible and absolutely ridiculous. Oh, and they LOST MY X-RAYS.

I wish I could give it zero stars! This place is Hell on Earth. The "doctor" doesnt listen so you end up being misdignosed and having unnecessary drugs pushed onto you. The nurses have no idea which of those drugs you are supposed to have or when. At almost every med pass, the nurse either had to double check something or would offer me the wrong medication. I actually got into an argument with one of them over medication I didnt even want because they are so incompetent. They also would either sign off on meds they didnt pass or not sign off on meds they did pass. They dont have their own pharmacy or any type of real therapy sessions. The nurse are bullies and threaten patients with "the shot" if they refuse to take their meds. They have almost nothing for people to do to help pass the time with just half a shelf of books (some of them travel guides -_- ) some puzzles and a bunch of incomplete board games. We never went to the gym or to the "courtyard" as pictured on their website. When we did go outside it was a tiny, fenced in strip of grass on the side of the building (against the street where all passersby can see us) with some benches and a tiny garden waterfall thing. More often than not, patients end up taking care of and counseling each other. It amazes me that this place is being renovated/remodeled. It needs to be bulldozed. The only saving grace is that some of the aides are actually kind of nice and pretty personable. Other than that, this place needs to burned to the ground. Also, apparently none of the aides are trained in basic first aid or CPR. My roommate was choking at breakfast and one of them waved it off saying she was "just coughing".

I was admitted here for a "psychotic break." This place helped add to it and triggered more of my symptoms and PTSD after being a client for a few days. When I was first admitted on the night shift, I watched one of the workers strip my new bed and did not disinfect the plastic mattress, pillow, or bed stand at all; he just reapplied new sheets. The "ICU" portion was insane. It had men masturbating in hallways and people screaming throughout the day and night. It was extremely understaffed and I felt like we were treated like cattle or inmates on the locked down unit. Although it was beautiful outside and they had an distinct area for us to be in, we were not permitted outside. The staff were cold and often more agitated than the clients. The nurses were especially bitter. There were no groups or individual therapy to help our minds heal. I was later transferred to the ABU (Adult Behavioral Unit) and had a much better experience where I was actually treated like a human being. I finally was able to receive some group therapy, but no individual therapy. The nurses were more kind and warm and the aides did a wonderful job. I thankfully was discharged and released to my own psychiatrist and therapist. I do not recommend this Hospital at all just because of the ICU unit and the lack of group and individual therapy.

The nurses are lazy and careless, The aids are aggressive and thieves[stealing patients stuff] and they dont respect patients rights! You will be forced to take a combination of pills [up to 8] that can damage your brain and organs- and the doctors dont care! They treated my brother back 2012 like an experiment and had we the family not threatened a lawsuit and wrote letters to the doctor-he might have died in there! He was worse off after being in there than before we brought him in[ with catatonia]. My whole family and external family had to raid the place and make alot of noise b4 my bro was released and taken to OSU hospital [Harding Hospital of Psychiatry] that was 250 times better than this place!!! OSU saved my brother and corrected all the mess OHP made! OHP should be burned down to the GROUND!!!! OHP is a disgrace to the health department and Psychiatric care!!! OHP is like a fake hospital from hell-were demons are present to kill the patients! OHP is like a horror movie were you know you walked into the wrong place from the first 10 minutes you get there....and the doors lock up immediately you step in!!!!! You must experience at least three days of HELL once you bring a sick loved one there!!!!!! Evil Place!!!

Do not take anyone you care for to OHFP. Management is not at all involved and do not appear to be concerned that their patients and families are not satisfied. They take advantage of the fact that their patients are adults. As a patient you are on your own. If someone you care for is a patient, stay on top of their care. My advice is to go to another facility. I read and heard they keep you there as long as your insurance will pay and I believe its true. The doctors may be decent , but they have too many patients and cannot offer the help their patients need. A high percentage of the employees are not at all caring, not very knowledgeable and not at all conscientious. They do have some good, caring employees, they wont stay long. The turnover is high. Not much is expected from the workers. I saw a lot of careless employees, breaking visitation rules (let patients use cell phones, see children under age). I was told a supervisor is always on duty. Well, they must wear blinders or are powerless to do anything.
