My dog suffered with allergies for years. I was going to Oceanlake and getting the standard Antibiotics and Steroids which seemed to make the condition far worse after each treatment when the steroids and antibiotics wore off. Finally they told be about a drug called Apoquel, though they said it wasnt yet available at Oceanlake. They said it was only available though Allergy Vets. So fearing the expense not to mention likely endless testing procedures, that allergy vets tend to suggest, I kept the course with the steroids etc. Finally a year ago or so I contacted a Salem vet and sure enough the first one I contacted had Apoquel and they were a standard (non-specialty/allergy) vet. When further talking to this vet explained to me that ALL vets from the onset of the availability of Apoquel were free to order the drug. Many apparently did not opt to do so which later caused a backlog. While I thought this was dishonest, of Oceanlake, I let it go thinking it was some sort of confusion on their part. I continued to frequent Oceanlake for the last few years for dog shampoo and I would pick up a great topical antibiotic which I would use on her skin. Today I was told I was "way out of compliance" with vet appointments which made no sense since I had been getting that medication regularly for years without a vet visit. No other explanation was given despite my confusion and explanation. I had a bottle of 30 dollar shampoo and planned to buy the ointment at a total cost about 65 dollars. I am sorry if that expense wasnt enough for you. I work with a lot of people in the community who have told me of their negative experiences with Oceanlake. Coupled with those reports, Oceanlakes initial dishonestly regarding the Apoquel not to mention the RUDENESS of the front desk person, I will do my business elsewhere forever more.

I have been going to this veterinary clinic since 2013. I absolutely love them. I have taken three animals to them and have had wonderful experiences. My cat Trouble had hyperthyroidism & Dr. Malter introduced me to new approach on managing it by changing his diet, which in end, saved me more money than paying for a daily medication. Troubles TSH level was the best I have ever seen it once I changed his diet. Trouble passed away in 2015 and the staff at this clinic were fantastic with the process. I was clearly an emotional mess and they were so supportive and understanding with the process. I also appreciated that they sent me a card with their deepest sympathies and each staff member personally signed it which I thought was very nice. My lab, Lana absolutely loves going to the vet. Lana has allergies and Dr. Malter introduced me to Apoquel and I love it! The second I took Lana in, Dr. Malter knew immediately what was going on with Lana due to her terrible yeast smell. Lana has been on it now for a little over a year and has had no issue at all with it. Also, I love how compassionate the staff is with Lana. Most importantly, I love that Dr. Malter and the techs will sit on the floor with Lana and love on her while we discuss Lanas health. I can always tell that they love what they do. I fully trust this veterinarian clinic and would recommend it to anyone. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. You can tell that the staff communicate well together. You know how much I love this clinic when I am willing to travel 25 miles to it verses going to one of the three clinics in my current town. :)

Five stars, 10 wags and 100 woofies for everyone at Oceanlake. First, BooBoo cat was attacked by a raccoon and had a 2" gash in his neck. I took him our vet in town where they sent him home with a gaping wound, un-bandaged and bloody, and obviously no pain killer. It was almost 5 PM and when I called the new vet in town, Oceanlake. Dr Jen was tending to two dogs who had unfortunately tried to play with porcupines, but if I brought him right over, the tech said, Doc would certainly take care of Boo afterwards. I did and she did. Later, Dr Jen called way late, around 9:45 or so, and took a half hour to explain what she did, why, and that I could get him the next day after she checked him over for discharge. He was very sedated, asleep, had a drain, stiches, thick bandages, and was in la-la land, but would recover nicely. He did. Boo was old, and when his quality of life was just too darned painful, she helped me through the dreadful time of letting go with love, compassion, and quiet reassurance. Not long after, I got a rescue dog, Mello, who *loves* his Vet and her helpers. Weve moved to Portland a year ago, but Im going to take the old man back in for a general, thorough physical and a general Howdy. When you find love and great service together, its impossible to just disappear if you can help it. Thanks, Dr Jen and your whole staff. (And, as Ive often said, Id rather have Dr Jen for MY doctor, but I just cant seem to grow fur and a tail.)

I will just say a few things and let this nonsense go 1. What sort of professional person would call a client like you did with me after I posted my review to reiterate your "points"for nearly an hour till I finally had to hang up on you. I am not being dishonest in anything I said period. 2. What short of professional person in any business post their responses on their clients reviews. WHO DOES THAT?? Im sure this will seem bizarre in and of itself. Reviews are for customers or clients of a business not a debate forum involving the owners. You also commented on another customers review that was somewhat negative. 3. Again as you stated you insist you were following the law by not filling a minor antibiotic ointment which i only used topically on my dogs skin. if you are indeed so concerned about the law you may want to revisit HIPPA confidentiality laws that do apply to vets in most states. I can disclose my medical information you really should not. 4. Lastly, clearly your defensiveness is inappropriate to everyone. IT WAS JUST A REVIEW GET OVER IT.

So my ferret has Insulinoma . We took her to OCEAN LAKE VETERINARIAN CLINIC. After the experience there I recommend not taking your ferrets here without researching and talking to other owners with the same issues. I have a pup and kitten that I havent had issues with, but they tried to tell us that we should not put her on a raw diet or let her be around ferrets on a raw diet because the medicine she is taking will make her more pron to bacteria and she could die. This was not her intentions and what she says is not necessarily untrue. She could get sick and die from the bacteria, but getting her on the raw food diet would benefit her in the long run. Holistic ferrets, are research, and all the lil ferrets running around on a raw food diet and thriving with insulinoma prove it . Its understandable if you want to stay on the safe side and Im not sure were vets can and cant get there information from. So PLEAS before taking your ferret there ask around and do your research. THANK YOU FOR READING AND HAVE A FERTASTIC DAY!
