Dr. Michael Setter is one of the most expensive dentists you will encounter in your search. Be sure to shop around and avoid getting sucked in to over paying and over treating by Dr. Setters smooth demeanor. Dr. Michael Setter will smile at you while he explains why your treatment will need multiple visits and excessive antibiotics. You will find that this is not only unnecessary but much more costly as well. Dr. Setter will also over charge you if you need sedation. When his office emailed me my pricing and treatment schedule, I nearly fainted. I called around to see how much sedation would cost if I hired my own anesthesiologist from an agency and it was nearly half of what I was quoted by Lisa in Dr. Setters office. I hate being over charged. When I asked Dr. Setter why his prices were so high over the phone, there was no good answer, just arrogant excuses. Dr. Setter is young, in his 40s, and way over priced for a small marginal facility, I would not recommend him to any one. Dr. Henshaw confirmed my belief that the treatment in question should be done all at once to not reinfect my mouth and to avoid unnecessary over use of antibiotics. The sedation cost at Dr Henshaws office was a few hundred dollars instead of $1,500 as quoted by Dr. Setters office that I would have needed twice if I had listened to him. My treatment with Dr. Henshaw was not only cost and effective ( about 1/3 less than what I was quoted by Dr Setter) but done in one visit and very successful as well. Dr. Henshaw has an excellent reputation and a very busy practice, still they did everything in their power to get me an appointment right away. I couldnt be happier with the service and the fair price I paid to Portland Periodontics, Dr. Henshaw. In summary, it pays to shop around when choosing a dentist or any other health care professional..

From beginning to end Dr Setter was transparent in his plan and cost. I read a review above and thought this guy needed to communicate his expectations a bit better. Im not the type to write reviews in fact I have to get appalling service to say anything on here. Im writing this review for two reasons, one to counter the prior mentioned review and second to state my experience with Dr Setters office. From the beginning we had a plan in place , cost was discussed , payment plans were available and all presented with care and compassion. Furthermore he himself suggested ways to minimize cost for me. His follow up and genuine care for his patients are evident. So i must say he is a periodontist that will deliver top quality care at a quality price and yes, I did my research and shopping around before hand.

After being butchered by South Sound Oral Surgery, I searched for another oral surgeon to remove the damaged implant, repair the gums and jaw, and finally re-insert a new implant. Dr. Setter was through, patient and compassionate. He always waited until the area was fully healed. He did not charge for the repair work to undo the failed implant. He may not be the cheapest oral surgeon, but I have but 1 mouth. I will not go to any other oral surgeon. His work had NO problems, all healing was very fast. He gives you his cell phone number after procedures and personally calls you that evening. Im sure you can find cheaper, and if you do, I wish you luck with that. If you need oral surgery, I recommend that you select the best. Oral surgery is serious, and you should take it as such.

Dr. Setter is as kind as he is competent. The entire office is compassionate and caring. Dr. Setter will be partient and thorough. I highly recommend him.
